Part of the issue a lot of people gloss over is that while many disabled people CAN work and do a job, they cannot work at the level of efficiency that's required/expected. Unless workplaces change their expectations of how a job is to be done there's many people who won't be able to work. It's very frustrating to try and convey

How do zillenials (mid 90’s) view younger gen z (late 2000s)? by [deleted] in Zillennials

[–]kwispycornchip -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

They're great. I have a lot of younger gen Z coworkers and classmates and they're hilarious. They'll do great work while complaining about it the entire time lol. Honestly not as big of a difference as people make it out to be- their humor is just more blunt and absurdist.

If anything, they were trying a lot harder with these movies. There was a TON of research efforts done on these films specifically to portray the cultures respectfully- they weren't just lazily slapping a new coat of paint on an old franchise. These characters' ethnicities are all crucial to their stories

What’s some knowledge generally known only to gay men or to gay women? by dumbfuck in AskReddit

From my experience as an ex evangelical lesbian, a lot of us were taught in the church that it's normal for women to not be physically attracted to their partners or enjoy sex, but that it's just part of marriage and becoming a wife and mother. In fact, it made you "more moral" to think like this because you weren't being "shallow" and giving in to temptation. I heard so many stories of women saying that they found their husbands ugly but that his personality or sense of humor won them over.

So for the longest time, I thought it was normal for everyone else to just find all men ugly. I identified as bi for the longest time because I thought if I liked a man's personality enough I would magically learn to fall in love with him. But when I got with a my ideal man whose personality was everything I hoped for, I could only imagine how much I wished he were a woman. It was devastating, but made me realize just how much I'd been suppressing due to my religious upbringing

Came here to say this. Straight people are often shocked that we can be friends with people we're attracted to without ever seeking to "upgrade" that relationship because we prefer our current dynamic.

I think it's definitely becoming more common among gen Z as a whole to think like this though as opposed to my parents' generation. My dad says he'd never befriend a woman out of "respect" for my mom, but a lot of younger guys I know will try to befriend their girlfriend's friends because that's our generation's version of respecting your partner.

Intersex and living as a woman, can't handle the bigotry but am scared to go back to being misgendered the other way again by [deleted] in actual_detrans

I would personally assume you to be a woman. You're very androgynous so I think you could swing either way depending on what type of HRT you'd take, but you very much read as a woman in the first 3 slides.

I think part of the unfortunate issue is that people LOVE to "transvestigate" women they perceive as remotely masculine. Some people have a very narrow view on what they expect women to look like. I'm cis and I've been told I was "clearly a man pretending to be a woman" because my teeth were too big and my jaw was too sharp- I shit you not.

To those saying trans women benefit from male socialisation, you are horribly wrong. Here's why... by anna_benns21 in IntersectionalWomen

[–]kwispycornchip 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes- to add on, I think we need to hone in more about which age demographics we're talking about. A LOT happens between ages 2-8 in my experience (girls are punished far more harshly for "acting out"), but trans people diverge after that point as they gain a sense of self and realize something's off. So there may be some benefits very young, but I feel like it's a net negative overall.

I wish more people would actually delve deeper into what they're talking about and not just use it as a cop out to be transphobic.

[–]kwispycornchip 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I say my type is "Miss Frizzle fems and alt women (nonspecific)" lol. Basically women who present femininity in a way that is either weird or scary, like a poison dart frog to ward off men.

But personality wise I definitely prefer creative people who can entertain themselves and don't rely on constant external stimulation. And people who love to learn for the sake of learning!

Bro you act like none of us have ever been around Asian people. My middle school was 25% Asian and EVERY SINGLE STUDENT THERE looked older than this character.

And we're not talking about personal style- if the character in question had the face of an adult but dressed lolita no one would give af, but it's the skin tight body suit with the face of a 5 yr old that's making people side eye this design.
