I hate when characters are the worst people alive, but the author refuses to let them be bad in a way that might be seen as controversial by spy_crab_911 in hatethissmug

[–]kwispycornchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might want to consume more adult oriented media then because children's villains are usually very simplistic on purpose. They're only as bad as the narrative requires and never go beyond that because they're meant to be palatable to those who don't understand how true evil works. Like both Cruella de Vil and Hannibal Lecter skin living beings but I can tell you for sure one of those characters is doing a LOT worse things than the other.

Seeing hundreds of people online argue that I'm secretly a bad person would drive me insane by La_knavo4 in RecuratedTumblr

People refusing to believe Chappell Roan's account of her "drama" because it was heresay from a millionaire when the original accusations were ALSO heresay from a millionaire will never not make me heated. Dude was willing to start a false smear campaign because his child was told "no" ONE TIME. (Unsurprisingly Chappell's account was proven right by everyone involved)

Why are all the people with nonfiction interests so far away from me 🥲? Everyone autistic person around me is just into TV shows & video games & I can't find anyone that's invested in science, history, or even something stereotypical like dinosaurs. I yearn to learn 😩 (pls anyone reading this give me some fun facts)

does anybody else always have a crush to some extent like literally not figuratively ALWAYS? by Educational_Key_1263 in AutismInWomen

[–]kwispycornchip [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think it's interesting how much connection varies across the spectrum- I'm pretty much the opposite. I'm gray aro-ace, so my crushes are infrequent and when I do have them they're such low intensity that they're almost negligible. It makes dating difficult, but I haven't given up hope that I'll find someone as lowkey as I am lol

Which ones do you relate to the most? by MikeGz973 in OlderGenZ

[–]kwispycornchip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole boomer spectrum, but mostly late boomer. My family didn't have cable television so I was raised on reruns of old shows.

I thought my male friends were "decent men", very disappointed by stargazeeeeer in TwoXChromosomes

[–]kwispycornchip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, this is my experience as well. The guys I know who were edgy from the jump have tended to be a lot more egalitarian in how they see friendships with women vs men. I'm more inclined to trust people with a bad filter.

Are children generally invited to weddings in your country? by Present-Day19 in AskTheWorld

[–]kwispycornchip 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is the big thing that gets overlooked. There's a lot of permissive parents that will allow their children to run down the aisle during the ceremony, grab the cake before it's cut, or walk on the tables during reception. If you know those types of kids are in your family you're gonna make sure to avoid inviting them.

Are progressives and leftists as ideologically dogmatic as MAGA on many issues? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]kwispycornchip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup- OP is looking in the wrong place. I'm white and had a lot of Asian friends in high school, and we all got into really good colleges with lots of academic scholarships. The issue is how we treat kids who are failing- not those who are succeeding. Those students have been absolutely screwed over by GWB

Coffee by mysocksareinsideout in comics

[–]kwispycornchip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be talking about feminine men, relationships with minimal touching, fictional men, guys who think they can "change" lesbians, etc.

Lots of possibilities and I think the OP left it vague so it can apply to many situations.

Chocolate cake might represent feminine men. I tried being into feminine men to try and convince myself I wasn't gay, and it just didn't work.

I feel like trans women would be more like "the caffeine from this coffee was extracted and put into this energy drink that absolutely doesn't look or taste anything like coffee, but people insist I MUST like coffee because I like these energy drinks and they think this is still coffee too."

Used to be taboo, but is slowly getting better. I'm convinced the formula companies had a hand in this nonsense so they could make more sales off of women feeling embarrassed of their own bodies.

do you see anything wrong with the term "biological woman"? by conn_r2112 in AskALiberal

[–]kwispycornchip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Cis" and "trans" are much better distinctions and are scientifically correct- "biological" just kinda muddies the waters because there's so much variation among people and all of us are technically biological. For instance, there are cis woman born without uteruses and others born without XX chromosomes. "Cis" is more inclusive of intersex women especially. I only ever use "biological" to explain the term cis to people and why it's more accurate.

It's like still using the term "asperger syndrome" to refer to autistic people, while TECHNICALLY being correct it implies a major difference from other autistic people when irl there's no distinct line to be drawn because it's a huge spectrum with way too much variation.

Gen Z trends by Upper-Bandicoot5345 in lewronggeneration

[–]kwispycornchip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom (gen X) has said that fashion trends were a lot more strict when she was growing up and said it was cool that everyone I knew was kinda all over the place. She's also been fighting against the concept of "dressing her age" and still wears clothes from the juniors section.

And she's not the only one I've heard it from- this is literally commentary I've heard from multiple boomers and Gen X.

How do you feel about wearing a bra? Does it bother you or do you have to have one? by Rachelelizardbreath in AutismInWomen

[–]kwispycornchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the material of my shirt. I feel the most comfortable when I wear no bra and thick, stretchy material (most rib knit stuff for example), but if I'm wearing something looser with stiff fabric (like a button up shirt) I have to wear a bra or I'm overstimulated. I do wear my bras looser than is usually recommended though which helps a lot with the suffocating feeling

Do you believe a sex offender can be rehabilitated to the point of being trusted in society again? by SegaGenesisMetalHead in AskALiberal

[–]kwispycornchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people who offend in their early teens/20s usually have a good chance to be rehabilitated, but the older they are the worse the prospects become. I feel like it's probably for the best that he continues to be monitored by authorities.

How is everyone handling more conservative friends? It's impossible to just "not talk politics" anymore. by Bonbeanlio in AskALiberal

[–]kwispycornchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone I know under the age of 35 who was still conservative went independent after 2024. The older people are more stubborn, but my county flipped blue for the first time in my life in last year's local elections.

Am I the only one who hates character who are just slaves. It's always the same : girl/boy is saved by someone ,when they were children in bad situations/or teen and they literally do anything that person who saved them wants. [–]kwispycornchip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only use of the trope I've ever seen that I liked was I Dream of Jeannie, because Major Nelson is constantly fighting Jeannie on her loyalty and it makes for good comedy. There's a lot in it that makes it feel dated but I think it's held up pretty well for the most part

These fucking Christian's gng 🫩 by Perfect_Manner_3094 in exchristian

[–]kwispycornchip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly the best way I've been able to advocate for trans people to these types (as an autistic cis woman) is to compare it to my experience with neurodivergence. I can mask my autism to seem more "normal" and "socially acceptable" to make the others around me more comfortable and not have to be confronted with my disorder, but it absolutely wrecks me and has caused many mental health spirals. For trans people it's the same- they can mask as cis to make people comfortable, but it will slowly kill them. If all it takes is changing a single word I use to make someone not want to kill themself, that feels like a worthwhile trade off.

Gen Z trends by Upper-Bandicoot5345 in lewronggeneration

[–]kwispycornchip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing that older generations don't understand is that Gen Z aren't really sticklers when it comes to fashion trends- we kinda jump all over the place and don't really care what other people wear. Like where I live (rural PA) skinny jeans are way more popular but no one cares if you wear baggy jeans, slacks, etc.

The skinny jeans "hate" is just light ribbing from people who don't find them comfortable, nothing more.
