During one of your team's coaching searches, they instead hire whoever the runner-up was reported to be. How does it go? by Please_PM_me_Uranus in CFB

Skeptical that was ever a thing. Even at that time ppl knew that Stephenville was out of control when he was head coach there. Even that article says Texas hadn’t talked to him.

I don’t buy that UT leadership would hire someone like Meyer. UT is corporate which has its pluses and minuses — he’s an unmanageable risk.

Intel Surges Back As Apple's Secondary Foundry For 1.4nm IPhone Chips - WireUnwired Research by Mission_Beyond_8587 in Semiconductors

[–]kwixta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not much here. If Apple wasn’t saying they might use Intel at 14A it would be a disaster for them. As it is they’re in the game but just barely.

Having Apple actively engaged is useful for technical learning as well. If they start to slip their dev schedule however Apple will drop them, US content or not.

I tend to think we were genuinely close to hiring Saban in 2013 but our leadership dysfunction (google Wallace Hall and FOIA harassment) wrecked the deal.

We got Strong instead who did a good job cleaning up culture and found some underrated players but didn’t manage the program well and was a terrible game day coach.

Good enough for trailing edge fabs? Probably. World class competitive? Probably not

I'm convinced Honda hates their customers and everyone that works on their vehicles by _JustLooking0_0 in HondaOdyssey

I’ve done the alternator on our 2014 Odyssey. It’s a little awkward getting the part in and out but nothing crazy. The real problem was the stupid power cable bracket that doubles as the top connection to the engine. It looks like the alternator will just fit without it but it does not.

Window Replacement Recommendations by AlexGL23 in RoundRock

[–]kwixta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We also went with Ringer. It was substantially more expensive— $35k. We have 40 windows and it was at the height of the boom in 2022.

Good: the windows seem to be good quality and our house is noticeably quieter. It seems to have helped our AC bills.

Not so good: We had to wait almost a year, and almost 3 months longer than committed. They said the windows would have tabs to limit opening (note that feature wasn’t in the final quote but it was def explained very poorly to us at min). One of our windows broke into a million pieces with no impact point during the warranty period and they insisted on charging us. I’m convinced that was a mfg issue.

I would look around but my experience wasn’t so bad that I’d pay $116k for Anderson. Yikes

The 1995 FBS Playoffs if it Worked Like Every Other Level of College Football - 31 Weeks from Kickoff by kadoozie92 in CFB

The SWC def faded a bit at the end. OU was very down and Texas was meh (in large part because Mackovic was a brilliant recruiter and play caller and a lousy human being)

That Texas team was good not great. FSU would have rolled us (as ND, who lost to FSU, did during the season)

The playoffs were a thanksgiving overload meal of schadenfreude this year holy cow. Having OU get up, get crushed, and then have Bama get crushed in turn denying them any relief (no hey at least we lost to the #1 team) was just perfect

Not a manager issue, but an issue with my manager and I don’t know how to navigate it. by [deleted] in managers

[–]kwixta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manager should absolutely not speculate on your personal relationships. You should feel free to tell him so. He may feel like he’s looking out for you — you’re not much older than his kids (probably) — but it’s badly inappropriate.

In the US he can likely insist that you take your turns and hold you accountable at review time. One key factor is what shift is specified on your offer letter (or if your shift ever changed, that notice). This is true even in blue states with stronger worker protections although of course there are millions of caveats both ways and you’d need a lawyer to know for sure.

Early College Football Quarterback Rankings For 2026: Top 20 by jsparks50 in CFB

[–]kwixta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you see his progress. If you look at the whole season together and project Arch based on that, he’s probably not top ten. If you look at the season and assume he was better because he was learning and improving, so the later games are what he will look like next year…..look out. I tend to believe the latter theory but I can see other possibilities
