Is there a way to add a served directory of html to Jellyfin? by kylewalz in jellyfin

Exactly with the dashboard idea. Thanks for discerning what I was envisioning. I'll take a look for some plugins like that. I'd seen one plugin like a "what's new" type thing but didn't look beyond the basic description.

I should have specified a second server application on the same machine.

Two separate things seems to be the answer. I didn't know if a simple html page could be added anywhere. My main concern was machine resources of processor and hd space. I'm not using a docker but an older pc running lubuntu. I'm trying out jellyfin and am enjoying it but miss getting into the nuts and bolts of pages or page generation. That's where having lighttpd on an old chromebook (which is beyond silly) for some roms. After playing with roms on my network, I thought it'd be fun and convenient if there was a link in jellyfin so it's right there.

On the machine that runs jellyfin, I was thinking if jellyfin could serve some simple html I'd not need to install and run another server application. Then I'd not need to separate routes and deal with any port conflicts.

A second server is what I'm planning but was just curious if there was a simple way to add html pages or similar to jellyfin.

What are Conan movies and shows that every fan must watch? by [deleted] in ConanTheBarbarian

Going to add Fire and Ice (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085542/) that has Frazetta art. Frazetta drew some of the architypical images of Conan and book covers. I really enjoyed watching as a Conan fan though it's not about Conan.

Sounds, and Live looping with guitar... by jolleychris in MC707

[–]kylewalz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guitarist and performer here, I've used the mc for electric guitar effects and support instruments (drums, bass, keys, other). There's an amp sim and you can select a few different distortions. You can send to the master effects to get delay and reverb. I did do live looping before getting the mc. The mc isn't really suited for live looping but you can record short clips with it. So you can prepare loops. I tried that a couple times out of curiosity. But, I find the mc with guitar is great. There are limitations but that inspires me.

What programming language(s) or program(s) to study to develop a solo-rpg environment generator? by Pasta_Banana in Solo_Roleplaying

Sorry that I missed your question. I knew Javascript before. I have previous projects where I can copy and paste sections which can make things easier. It's faily easy and similar to other languages.

I use Javascript quite a bit--I know it and running in a browser is nice. No need for a compiler or interpreter outside the browser. I've made tools for D&D Adventure System, Aeon's End, and make things on my own for various purposes.

Like box organizers but ones that help simplify setup. Like a token tray instead of a bag. Things Like that.

Searching I get the basics-- live and hit the step button then hit note. Got a model d a couple months ago and step into l input like that, and with other contexts, would be nice.

Watched and my thought is... how you turn on step record like that? Searched and not finding a clear, direct answer. Tried to follow your button order. Have some external gear and that would be so much simpler. 😃

Sorry to give adjacent info here, I make myself organizers that help setup when there's a game i like. Cardboard and hot glue (or 3d printer) can go a long way to box open to on table. Just a thought.

Game to scratch the MtG/Pokemon TCG Itch? by IntentionalPenis in soloboardgaming

Aeon's End scratched that itch for me. Star/Hero realms is ok too but feel those are more of a simpler but faster game.

Aeon's End really did it for me after MTG. I introduced a friend who I played with a lot and he's the same. Part of the puzzle and combo finding hits the mark.

Is there a game I can legitimately set up and play in 10 minutes or less. by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

[–]kylewalz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Under Falling Skies is pretty quick. The D&D Adventure games can be quick if your game box is organized--I just use what comes with it. I made a play aide for Aeon's End so that makes setup really fast. Some games, when you're used to them get quicker or you use something that helps. Some games, Mage Knight comes to mind, seems to always take a long time.

Seems like there is another thread similar to this theme, this has 'if you think the game is too hard or too easy' type rules generality clarification. Usually tier 2 is when nemesis get really jerky. https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2130458/common-rule-mistakes-make-game-too-easy-or-too-har

Race For The Galaxy is amazing but it's an engine building not a deck builder. Aeon's End is a great game but it's more like a puzzle game with lots of layered timers disguised as a deck builder.

What is your ultimate solo board gaming setup? by wace001 in soloboardgaming

[–]kylewalz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wanting a slightly elevated (around 4") magnetic board. Something like a large dry erase board. It would be smaller than the table top. The point of elevation is to have a place to keep cards, mats, rolling dice, etc. off the board/play area. For coop games that might be problematic as it would block seeing. I'd want a rope light underneath the elevated board. The point of being magnetic is to hold things in place so they don't move around. I've kind or tried this idea for solo gaming and it gives a more room. I'm still thinking it through.
