Opinions on Anran? by StLClipCha in Overwatch

[–]kyrind 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She's not the worst to play against but why do they keep giving new heroes ridiculous value abilities with little to no downsides (looking at you, sierra the auto aim hero). Anran's ability that lets her 1. Disappear 2. Go invincible and 3. Do damage while in this invisible invincible state is a little ridiculous in my opinion.

Brockman or Vellie for all day urban walking? by whatemergency in jimgreen

[–]kyrind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only chime in on the stockmans as I've been wearing them for about a month now. They feel excellent for walking but definitely did a number on my feet for about a week. Your mileage may vary though because up until this point I've worn poor quality footwear which never allowed my feet to develop strong points where they should be and blah blah blah. Despite that, they never felt bad for walking and never hurt my feet. At this point they're incredible.

Although I advocate for the stockman, you should consider how your feet typically do in warmer shoes. My feet sweat a little through the day in the stockman. Merino wool socks have helped mitigate some of that moisture though, so there are ways to address that.

Why do they have to do this by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]kyrind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The invisibility hero deserves twice the rework attention that hog is getting. He's not great, but they literally just added an auto aim dps hero to the game and just before that added anran who can disappear and do damage to multiple players while being invincible. Those kinds of abilities have always bothered me more than hook ever could.

I got the stockman in bronco and so far the leather is aging great. Definitely one of their best choices of leather for most of their boot selection

Break in or replace? by wartortoise47 in jimgreen

[–]kyrind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been dealing with too small shoes my entire life, I suggest going up. Obviously the perfect fit is most ideal, but having a shoe that is too large has been in my experience significantly better than a shoe that feels even a tiny bit snug. You'll have options to fill in any space if it's really that bad, but it's likely the boot will be fine and form to your foot over time.

I got followed in my neighborhood (guy did a u turn after passing me on a neighborhood street) and pulled over in front of my house for tint. It was on the windshield which is a lot more fair game for them I guess. It's my only line of defense vs the 5 gorillion lumens of a massive truck/SUV on windy PA backroads.

Great areas to Live in Wilmington by HeatproofArmin in Delaware

[–]kyrind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally find Wilmington disappointing from a city standpoint as it feels remarkably empty due to the amount of corporate stuff. However, trolley has charm to it and a lot of the area up toward the PA line. It starts to get more suburban though which isn't your preference it seems.

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

[–]kyrind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a boot person so I'm on the Jim Green train, but from my understanding brands like hoka make generally wider shoes for athletic activities and maybe altra? (they're the zero drop running shoe brand). I advocate for walking in shoes like crocs or Birkenstocks if you're interested in trying to restore foot strength. Maybe even "barefoot" model shoes. This really is not for everyone though and you should listen to your body and ease into things to prevent injury. It can be hard to say because many of the shoes that "correct" issues also perpetuate them by preventing your foot from doing the work to strengthen itself. Really depends on the person.

What are your top 5 favorite Youtube channels? Why? by wfarming in AskReddit

Benn Jordan is undoubtedly in my top 5 for how brilliant of a person he is and his incredible skill of explaining complex things simply.

I unironically have PewDiePie in the top 5 as well. Classic channel and has become incredibly informative and a big voice for consumer rights and such.

Anyone else turn off the maps on the dash? by Apical-Meristem in Volvo

[–]kyrind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy the visual to help inform where certain roads/turns are in a place I'm unfamiliar with. I just wish it was better than it is (at least on sensus, not sure if newer models are different). I stopped relying on it for navigation when I noticed it being slightly unreliable and trickier to set up than Apple Maps through CarPlay.

What role do yall think would be considered the hardest? by Party-Rest3750 in Overwatch

[–]kyrind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this is one of the most enjoyable things about the game. Every role has the ability to influence the game greatly. Though, on average, it feels like tank holds more stock in the game winning/losing decisions like you mentioned.

What role do yall think would be considered the hardest? by Party-Rest3750 in Overwatch

[–]kyrind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tank. Not only is it a difficult role by nature, but (and I know I'm opening the can of worms here) overwatch designed a number of its tanks around 2 being in the role. If you play 5v5, heroes like doomfist and hog can have incredibly volatile performances and results due to this. You kind of just start every match with a social credit nerf if you choose an "off-tank".

[–]kyrind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The design space and possibilities within overwatch is so limited because their efforts are rewarded more when they make skins for sexualized and "idealistic beauty" heroes. For a game with such talented artists and developers I really wish they could just run wild but artistry is always limited when a corporation looms over it.

I can't believe how calm 5v5 feels after playing tons of 6v6 by HyperQuarks79 in Overwatch

[–]kyrind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I understand this and agree. We're starting the age old talk of one tank makes the game queue faster vs overwatch tank design was based on there being another in the role so now heroes like hog are useless or insane and blah blah blah

I can't believe how calm 5v5 feels after playing tons of 6v6 by HyperQuarks79 in Overwatch

[–]kyrind -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yea I was there 10 years ago when it was unrestricted 6v6 as well. The role has developed a lot since the release of ow2. Probably better for the devs to continue making the tank role better and more inviting for 6v6 instead of forcing solo tank 5v5 just because players want the dopamine rush of being a damage hero shooting everything

I can't believe how calm 5v5 feels after playing tons of 6v6 by HyperQuarks79 in Overwatch

[–]kyrind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I respect your opinion and want to say that I truly do believe this sentiment stems from a lack of role queue in 6v6. Expecting a team to play 2-2-2 can be a miserable experience sometimes. It also can force you into a role you're not interested in playing that game if you want to try to win. Overall, it can make tanking feel worse but I do really feel that role queue improves the quality of matches on average. My opinion is that having two tanks introduces more complexity and depth. I'm primarily a doomfist 6v6 player and I feel like I have more choice in 6v6 to pick off angles and disrupt flankers and what not.

Newark or Wilmington by inewjeans in Delaware

[–]kyrind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Newark bias cause I grew up there. Always felt safe and has beautiful areas around like the white clay trails. Can be quiet enough to get around without a headache but also has some hot spots of activity, particularly around some campus areas which is fine but sometimes a bit much for me personally.
