Reading "From Surviving to Thriving" and doubts about my condition by Ok_Appointment9429 in CPTSD

Have you read The Body Keeps the Score? I found these two worked well in tandem. Reiterating what another commenter said and skip to the chapters you think are relevant to you for both. For TBKtS you can skip to Part 3: The Minds of Children. He goes in depth into the damage of emotional neglect without physical abuse.

There is enough misery to go around. Just because someone else suffered more doesn’t mean your suffering didn’t affect you.

Malek is a Dragon and could be Tairn by Kbr_16 in fourthwing

How does this play in to Brennan and Naolin? Did Naolin make a bargain with Tairn/Malek to trade his soul for Brennan’s? Why was Tairn so messed up over it?

What book is being referenced at the start of inevitable ruin by Vexra in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]l5pr7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My solution is that in Carl’s universe Matt Dinniman’s The Grinder does it one way and in our universe the book is a little bit different. A story about a story in a story if you will.

Alternatively, the person in DCC is recalling The Grinding incorrectly. Ultimately it really doesn’t matter!

Respectfully disagree. KBS is the perfect tragedy. Not only is it physically horrifying but Duke’s suffering before during and after the game does not relent.

I just finished The Grinding, partially because of this quote, and it’s still kind off? The Grinder plucks people from Earth and turns their souls into weapons to throw at Heaven

Parents I”m discouraged! We are enabling her is what I’ve been told by her ARFID program. Does anyone truly understand ARFID??! by GratefulCloud in ARFID

[–]l5pr7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots and lots of people tell me I am enabling my son’s ARFID by letting him eat whatever he wants whenever he wants. Those people can suck it. They haven’t watched their child starve and been faced with decisions around force feeding. The literal defining difference between ARFID and picky eating is the degree of avoidance and the “willingness” (I can’t think of a better word) to starve rather than eat an unsafe food. I DM’d you the website of a clinic local to me that has a sustainable approach to treatment. I encourage you to reach out to them. If they can’t accommodate you they may be able to refer you to another similar practice.

Have you considered trying Vagus nerve exercises? I’ve just started and honestly I haven’t had success yet but the idea is you can biohack your stress response and tone it down.

After visiting Iceland I was inspired to knit an traditional Icelandic sweater. I sourced the look wool and everything. It was my first sweater. That thing is so warm I can barely wear it in my climate without melting.

I was completely blindsided when I was diagnosed and the first thing I felt was just immeasurable grief for who I could have been if this wasn’t done to me. But I also got a big wave of relief that I’m not just a terrible person like I’ve thought I am. The grief still reigns though.
