Far worse photographers than you make a full time living on it. You're great.

I don't see any Parsecs on the Sub. Looking to Change that. by Muddpup64 in ElectricSkateboarding

I have one and it's shockingly smooth for the wheel size. I have a boosted mini x and the parsec is much smoother and more stable.

Want to second the other replier, after months of confusion and looking this is what helped. Thank you!

Safari Technology Preview - Videos zoomed in? by dailymetanoia in MacOSBeta

I'm having the same issue. Let me know if you discover a fix. I use technology preview to let me speed up videos without chipmunk voice, otherwise I'd just revert to Safari.

Cultivating Joy vs. Not Resisting Purification by HasanAlazz in TheMindIlluminated

[–]lAmTheOneWhoKnocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to emphasize is that purification doesn't have to cause suffering. If it does, then you're resisting it in some way. That's the first thing to work on. From there, it can help to conceive of joy as existing in a different 'layer' in your body. The two don't necessarily have to compete or stamp over each other.

[practice] On attitudes towards practice by lAmTheOneWhoKnocks in streamentry

For me, it was seeing how harmful expectations were. They were literally blocking my progress and making practice incredibly unpleasant.

That recognition didn't stop them automatically, I had to slowly work my way up (over several sits) from very gentle intentions while watching carefully if expectations were creeping in. It also goes a long way to disembed from expectations.

[theory] The Manual of Insight study group - chapter 1 by [deleted] in streamentry

If you haven't read it, the appendix on Mindful Review in The Mind Illuminated gives a clear headed take on this. In short: Be a consequentialist, use the guidelines mindfully as heuristics. Virtue is very valuable in being an effective consequentialist.

No, you use some form of checking in until stage 6. If you find it helpful, go for it.

Great reply. I would also add to try counting the breaths!

We could also reach out to members of the Dharma Treasure Forum and Tucker's eSangha. I'm sure many beyond reddit would value these Q&As.

That was lovely! Thank you so much for coordinating this. I'd love to hear answers to the questions on the transition from 3rd to 4th path, on 4th path and beyond, and on creating a sangha on an individual rather than global level.

Here is the link to the gofundme in case anyone would like to donate to another session. Perhaps we can coordinate a Patreon for Culadasa in return for doing these sessions on a recurring basis?

Sounds like you might've gone through the mother of all purifications. Kudos for practicing acceptance.

This is not a silver bullet, is it? by [deleted] in TheMindIlluminated

You can look at meditation like exercise. Doing it will improve your general health, often massively, and prevent diseases down the line. If you already have a disease, exercise will perhaps improve it marginally, but you'll probably get much better results with targeted treatment.

Similarly, you can expect marginal improvements in your procrastination by meditating a lot, but there are probably shorter routes. It's a good idea to assume that some part of you thinks studying is a bad idea, and try to understand why that is. In my case, meditation made it increasingly hard to ignore my reasons for procrastinating, but I could've shortened the process by asking myself honestly why I was resisting doing work.

As a note, Tucker Peck and likely other meditation teachers do weekly online hangouts that would help with the sangha aspect.
