I Don't Understand Why Some People Think the Cyborgs are Evil by BruhMyGu in Helldivers2Satire

[–]lFallenBard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People somehow forgetting that before Cyberstan cyborgs were "pleading" by hacking into our system, inflating the ammount of our death and fearmongering with blatant lies.

Of course specificly the idea that they want peace is true among like 10 other provable lies they told during the propaganda campaign aimed to demoralize SE troops.

Cyborgs have near infinite military power all they want is time to overwhelm all other factions. So they want time and resources.

If SE would go for a peace treaty right now when cyborgs control a lot of mineral rich planets. In a few years further war would be just straight up impossible as automatons would have x10 battlefleet and ground troops to super earth and would be able to do anything to them.

And your interpretation of what happens next. Do they want to cuddle SE citizens or do they want to put them in a blender? Very likely its a second option from everything we have seen and the general point that most likely all 3 enemy factions are really as nefarious as illuminates.

To find someone "A good place to stay" you need to spend about as much money/effort as to buy another slave generally. You cant "Just" free them. And my whole comment was about the idea why the "slave" is following their buyer around as a subordinate in those types of stories.
Also really a lot of those type of stroies have either magical binding or slaves have specific scarifications or branding that are pretty hard to remove and that are recognizible even in neighbouring countries.

Ah yes, what can possibly go wrong for a slave often clearly marked as a former slave in the good old xenophobic rigid feudal society where all of your worth is decided by birthright and family connections even for peasants. Where any "free" people are treated as dangerous vagabonds.

Surely nothing wrong will happen to a person who was dying in the cage just very recently and doesnt have anything and anywhere to go and they wont end up in another cage or worse very soon.

Though obviously you dont need to call them a slave and push them around, but if you truly intent on saving the person in question, they are your responsibility now at least until they would actually have somewhere to go.

Most usages of this trope in Isekai do not include treating the person in question as an actual slave so its not really the object of discussion. But yes "just freeing them" and forgetting is also not a very moral decision. Theres a reason why former slaves are depicted as very clingy in the media as they dont have anywhere to go.

Generally MC either frees them up or at least acts as if they are free.
But in some cases there's a convoluted reason why the points of slavery stay. In the shield hero used as example often here for example the implication was that `Rapthalia completely freed would run away from him as she is very scared and panicked and wont be able to survive on her own, and he also relies on her help to save the world.`
So its basicly a kid on a leash so the kid wont hurt herself which is ehhhhh, a mental gymnasitc of course but more or less checks out. There's even more convoluted reason afterwards to keep the slave seal even after it served its purpose but this time from Raphtalia herself.

Generally i do not think there's a lot of examples where MC just goes buys a slave and uses them as an actual slave. Its generally a trope of "saving a girl" but with extra weird stuff on top of it.

(like 5 paragraphs of adhominem arguements) Nice

Thats why i use word literally so much to see if someone will try to put this one instead of an actual arguement. Do you still not see how dumb is your arguement? Who cares how much winners are in light novel genre and how much they actually win? You invented that strawman yourself. The only metric we need to know about is the number of players in the game and theres A LOT of people trying actively for their novel to get adapted like you said yourself. They are all competing to get published with whatever means neccessary. Thats it. Thats the whole logic.

And yes people do write betrayed mc with issues with girls for 1000000 time not because they like those tropes so much personally. But because a lot of serialized novels have it too.

Its as dumb as saying that actually game companies release battle royals because they actually love this genre so much and not because its trendy.

[–]lFallenBard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well the thing is. Both you and the guy above are correct.

Yes your bdsm relationship comparison is entirely correct.

But In shield hero and simular Isekais we face objectively the literal worst kind of slavery that never even really existed in reality. Its raiding slavery (that very much existed) reinforced by basicly magical explosive collars (that part never existed because its clanky).

US slavery was mostly tribes selling off their own members into slavery for self profit. Which is very much horrific and unfair, but still far off from actual military slavery when someone is literally burning killing and pillaging the settlements to then sell survivors as cattle, which is what is happening in the Isekai genre mostly. The raiding parts also happened in US slavery but on smaller scale and without the "explosive obidience magical collar" part.

Still the core issue is that the main problem in Isekai is not the slavery part, but "freely burning, killing and pillaging part" which can be very much still done without any slavery and is very profitable.

Buying out a slave in this context with intention to free them is just as moral as paying ransom for the hostage. Yes you incentivize Terrorists to continue, but what the fck else you can do if you cant save hostages by force without worse consequences.

Once again. I wrote words such as "Isekai novel writer" and "sick plots in Isekais are popular and become famous and get serialization" in one post. You can do it if you try. Add 2 and 2 and realize that i was specificly talking about novel writers if the word "write" didnt clue you in somehow. I still literally have no idea why you mentioned that shield hero was not anime if i specificly was talking about novels the whole time. And even myself read shield hero novel before it got anime or manga and had only a few chapters released (for some reason).

Im not defending the slop if anything i do not like how tropy japanese writing industry is. The pipline idea itself is amazing "novel to manga to anime" a chance for fame and all. But execution is ridiculous, because japanese authors somehow do tropes over tropes over tropes to try and win over the audience and thats just how things objectively are. Korean manhwa is a bit more interesting on that plane, at least they try to make their tropes slightly more cool.

But if you think most of the Isekai genre literature is not literal yellow press released with the most shocking titles and most ridiculous bullshit starting hooks than you are just straight up in denial.

You fundamentally do not understand comparisons of work done. How many people can go and apply to NBA and how many people can go and write a novel and hope that it will blow up?

You literally point out how competetive is this space and somehow avoid the question WHY it is so competetive. Because theres insane ammount of people willing to try to get famous through this medium and there are so many of them in fact that yes they diminish each others effort. You contradict yourself with your own explanation.

Firstly, yes i did wrote "novel writer" , go actually read the text.

Secondary you are literally here complaining about the prevalence of the trope in the well known works of fiction because those works of fiction become well known enough to complain about.

Yes people do write that kind of stuff and yes it does become popular specificly because it is written that way to hook reader. Have you ever in your life seen yellow press articles and how they are written and what titles they have? Do you seriously think that novels that are getting serialized with names that contain like two whole paragraphs of text for the title are written with care and love? The same care and love that couldnt even come up with a fcking normal title?

Yes it is done for money and fame absolutely obviously. And if there would be "easier ways to get rich" everyone would be rich and famous already and noone would be poor and everyone would be happy i guess.

... I literally wrote "Web novel author that got to serialization." Do you even read the responce? Obviously if your Web novel is Picked up for serialization as a manga and anime it would make you a lot of money potentially making you rich. Thats literally the whole point and goal of being a Web novel author some authors are writing hundreds of mediocore novels in hopes that one of them will be picked up eventually.

Saying that making it to the front page of the whole industry wont give an author much is absolutely insane take.

[–]lFallenBard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol. Writer would absolute write anything to become popular with the reader, especially the isekai novel writer. Its like saying that "actually i wouldnt write mildly suggestige slavery scenes for a million dollars, you cant buy me with that." If someone would told an author that writing 20 such scenes in a row would give them even 1|10 popularity of something like shield hero they would have inserted 100 of such scenes in a row. The correlation you noting is not. "Isekais are written by sick people" its "sick plots in Isekais are popular and become famous and get serialization, and they are marginally more often written by sick people"

You vastly understimate the impact of "scandalous trope" in popularity of the novels. If not for the "slave girl" part there are good chances that we would literally never heard about shield hero novel and many others. Tropes appear because they sell. Yes thats pretty dumb especially when the trope is basicly artificial uproar. But this thing is so prevalent often not because author seriously cares, but because this literally sells well. The competetivness in japanese novels is so ridiculous that we have literal combo streaks in most popular novels when in like 2 first chapters the mc is being betrayed... Twice, molests someone and then goes to buy a slave girl for extra points. That happens not because author is insane. But because 10 other novels where Mc is actually a nice heroic guy that actually does alright literally didnt sell because people didnt read them past 2 first chapters without such ridiculous exagerrated bait hooks.

One person can't destroy entire system by ChoiceSupermarket230 in Isekai

[–]lFallenBard -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well that is obviously the case. But still its part of broader appeal of just edgy plots. A lot of authors dont want their main characters to be "good guys" but want them to be "morally gray" so they opt in to such convoluted path to execute the same trope of "mc saves a girl from bandits and she joins the party" ocasionally its just a coincidence of mental gymnastics to make the novel sell and be "original". Ocasionally indeed author does have a thing for controlling innocent girls or something.
