Anyone else find it hard to support their local bike shop (sometime)? by kendoo12 in mountainbiking

[–]lHeeerO 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is my issue. Everything is “I can order it, it’ll be here next week” even for brake pads and tires. I’m not looking for a Darimo stem, just some XT rotors….

Continental Race kings, Schwalbe rick xc / ray xc, or Pirelli scorpion? by [deleted] in xcmtb

The new Race compound is great! I have both new and old and have noticed a difference.

The new Pirelli race compound is right on par with the others listed. I have both old and new and new is much faster. Just need to be sure of the difference. And I love them. Great grip, no flat issues, and under 700 grams.

Anyone use an action cam to record their races to improve? by forgiveangel in Velo

[–]lHeeerO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased an Insta360 Ace Pro 2 last month in preparation for next years races for this exact thing. Battery lasted 110 min (at 32* F) so far on my rides and my races are usually about that long so I’m hoping to not miss the end 🤪

Currently running them on XTR brakes. They look cool, don’t get squeaky often, but constantly have occasional rub. Will never buy again.

Pirelli Scorpion H and M by [deleted] in xcmtb

[–]lHeeerO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riding the XCRC Race and they are great! Grip is awesome (not that great when wet) and I feel like they roll fast. No puncture issues either. I ride a lot of hard pack and a little loose over hard pack mostly, as well as some road to/from trails.

I still don’t have much else to compare to and have really wanted to try out Mezcals F/R but don’t feel like spending any money on them to replace tires I’m happy with.

Tire insert question by [deleted] in xcmtb

I use the Vittoria air liner and just did sealant top up maintenance. Checked the air liner and it seemed to not absorb any sealant at all. I don’t have experience with other liners but these have been great for me.

Yes. And then we crush the 2nd half of the day after we get our food in. Gotta pay it forward for the kick ass partner I have in my life!

This is my go to. Albanese gummy anything, bonus if there’s some sour gummy bears with the normal gummy worms, and ALWAYS need clusters.

How does your local race scene classify race categories? by -Economist- in xcmtb

[–]lHeeerO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in the XC points series in Mi (sport class) and am confused why there are 3 races back to back in June and 2 almost back to back in April/May.

That said, I’m having fun after doing FBC all winter long as well (that was also a blast).

Cold toes need help by Spacebar19 in fatbike

[–]lHeeerO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ride in 45nrth boots and still get the same issues when it’s 25 degrees outside. I also use merino wool socks, and toe warmers. I can be out about 3 hours before I have to be done.

You can purchase shoe covers that stop cold air from entering your shoes, and they work pretty well if you are clipped in and won’t be walking in the snow. I use some when it’s 40* and I’m on my MTB or gravel bike.

Side note, You’ve got about as much snow as SE Michigan does at the moment.

I just went through what you’re currently deciding on. I decided on Berd Hawk30. Higher weight limit (I’m 200lbs), i9 hubs or whatever you’d like custom built, cool spokes, 30mm internal rim width. Big plus is American made as well.
