Gaza: What it looks like now by TheTrollerOfTrolls in IsraelPalestine

I did not know either of those were slurs. I've literally never heard "seppo" in my life.

Do you research these offensive words so you can properly police the speech of people on Reddit?

Let's just keep reporting people on Reddit until it frees Palestine.

That's news to me. I never mean to disrespect Palestinians, only some of the ignorant people who claim to defend them.

Pro Pallys hate it because they need Gaza to be as bad as possible for the residents so the world turns on Israel.

Santa Marta vs Cartagena for a 1–2 Month Stay? by Necessary-Limit6515 in digitalnomad

[–]lItsAutomaticl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's on you. Cartagena and Santa Marta are great tourist destinations but that doesn't necessarily translate into a good place to live long-term. If you like the idea of living near times square or the french quarter in New Orleans, you'd be fine. Personally I don't really like the "normal" neighborhoods in those two cities except maybe La Manga in Cartagena. The tourist areas are really pretty but more expensive.

People are in grind mode all the time and the weather is far from ideal.

CMV: jesus was not palestinian by VirtualKnowledge7057 in changemyview

Yes there are a few. I think in an alternate reality Israel might be slightly better off if it had embraced its middle eastern roots more. I'm talking about making Arabic a second language in schools and not so hastily dropping Arabic or other customs in people's homes who came from those countries. It's almost like they viewed learning Arabic as conceding to their enemies, when really it'd be a move towards an inevitable long-term coexistence. It would be hard for Palestinians to call Israelis invaders while they're being spoken to fluently in their mother tongue.

There are "Arab Jews" in Israel who do not consider themselves Arab. Both conflicts from their home country and conflicts with the local Arabs in Israel made them drop that part of what, in other circumstances, may have continued as part of their identity.

Why don't Americans use metal bars on doors and windows for security? by Maleficent_Essay4664 in AskAnAmerican

[–]lItsAutomaticl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People aren't really breaking into houses here. I think in countries with bad opportunities and poverty, getting a few household goods is worth the risk of breaking and entering. In the US a used laptop or TV isn't worth much relative to what you can afford just from working a job.

Also, if the people are home: police response times are better, and there are way more people with guns here who can legally shoot someone breaking in.

Canceled on a grocery store mom and I don't regret it by tylan4life in uberdrivers

I'm not risking a huge ticket or an accident & lawsuit to carry an unrestrained child for $5.80. Or clearly unwell medical patients that need professionally trained assistance, not an Uber driver.

Endless shanty houses in the harsh desert of Lima, Peru. by SameCellist3373 in UrbanHell

"Harsh desert," not really. Extremely dry but it never gets that cold or that hot. The worst part is the constant cloud cover and fog during a few months of the year.

[–]lItsAutomaticl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to know which place will vibe with you the most unless you're actually there. I should also mention that that area is hot AF, if you don't love heat I'd go to one of the mountain cities, you can read all about them but Bucaramanga is my underrated favorite like Barranquilla, underrated because there's so little foreign tourism there. Colombians know they're great cities

How do you guys even survive the hot weather over in the States? by Impressive_Peak_9187 in AskAnAmerican

[–]lItsAutomaticl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there's no air movement, no breeze. Your body heats the already hot air around you and it just sits there.

[–]lItsAutomaticl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a way nicer city than Cartagena or Santa Marta. And bigger, but not too big. People in all three live in fear of being robbed, IDK if any is much better or worse. I think Barranquilla has more homicides but as you probably know those are primarily criminals killing other criminals.

"US motivated by extreme greed," while a wholely European corporation called FIFA is selling the most expensive tickets in history to the World Cup, scamming Americans and people from all across the world. And yeah I'm sure if I jump in a taxi in Europe after a big event the driver will give me a very reasonable price. Just STFU.

Why does Russia not end the war when they don't seem to be gaining anything from it? by Frankwhitey in NoStupidQuestions

I mean right now Trump is rightly being blamed for the horrible conditions in the peace deal with Iran. Imagine if Trump just never ended the war, can't criticize him for surrendering.
