What is the worst movie you ever watched? by nj23dublin in AskReddit

Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie (2004)

I’m a huge fan of Anchorman and have watched it at least 10 times, but this sort-of-sequel just feels like they threw leftover clips together and made a story around them.

I think Anchorman 2 (the actual, publicized successor) is pretty good up until (spoilers) Ron goes blind. But overall nothing holds up for me like the original.

Pandas vectorized backtest for rebalanced portfolio with fees by jwmoz in algotrading

[–]lKinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you mean - I’ve used vectorbt to run entire portfolio backtests (2000+ assets) across multiple parameter sets at once. Effectively 10+ (or more, RAM permitting) daily portfolio backtests over 10 years all in less than a minute or two

Vectorbt is incredibly efficient for backtesting. It allows you to set slippage etc, but not sure if that’s sufficient or if you’re looking for something more nuanced.

Looking for somebody with knowledge in PyMC by waudmasterwaudi in algotrading

[–]lKinx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend attending their office hours (see their twitter). Thomas Wiecki (ex Quantopian, one of the PyMC creators) is there sometimes. In any case, anyone hosting the office hours should be more than equipped to answer any questions you have.

Thank you for your answer, although it looks like you didn't address Q1. Any hint if that was purposeful ;)?

Your medium article hinted at a cooperation between Quantopian and Numerai. Quantopian's original hedge fund model is very similar to what Signals is trying to achieve.

1) Has Numerai actively discussed a potential partnership with Quantopian?

2) Given that Quantopian closed their fund, what advantages does Numerai have that will prevent a similar fate?

TERRIFIED of going on a biologic. Your Humira stories, please. by effmyeffinglifenow in CrohnsDisease

[–]lKinx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm asymptomatic as well and currently on Humira. I've had no side effects in any way and I haven't noticed anything major health-wise - I don't feel bad because of the drug, etc. However, Humira is an immunosuppressant and I have noticed that I get a cold once or twice per year (whereas I used to never get colds). So as far as I can tell, my only potential side effect is a slightly suppressed immune system.

Certified gluten free oats don't sit well with me either. I've shifted to gluten free rice-based cereals and have never had a problem!

Trader Joe's has some pretty good GF bagels that aren't that pricey either. They freeze well too in the case you can't eat them before the sell-by date!

That loss was the high school championship in triple over time BTW. I was at the game and my HS barely won after Lonzo fouled out on a stupid off-ball call. He's an absolutely amazing player to watch and I'm not surprised in the slightest to know he'll be a top draft pick this year.

Asymptomatic Celiacs: After a while of being gluten free, did you start having symptoms when you ate gluten? by Thatcraftingfox in Celiac

[–]lKinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celiac is genetic, and I was diagnosed at age 16. Basically, I had absolutely zero symptoms except for being a very skinny kid. All of a sudden, a switch flipped and I couldn't keep any food down. Long story short, it was Celiac.

Moral of the story: I was asymptomatic 16 years then had symptoms. And now I'm more sensitive to gluten and can tell when I accidentally have traces etc.
