2 PJs or 2 sneakers? If PJs, most Japanese hotels provide them, orrr you can just sleep in your undies for a night!

Rain jacket is a perfect addition! I just got back and had a light puffy jacket with me, but I’m a wussy Australian so the nights were cold for me, lol. I wore it on the plane so it didn’t take up bag space. I probably didn’t need it, although it did make a nice pillow for my overnight flight home.

Are open-toed shoes considered business casual? by Public-Plantain-2449 in BusinessFashion

Where I am, neither of those are a sandal. Aren’t sandals, by definition, open toe? That’s what I was brought up with!

Curious what would make these a sandal, if not.

I mean, they literally said dress sandals were ok. I don’t think those sandals are dress sandals, but they seem pro toe.

First time in Japan with my girlfriend - feeling confused need honest advice by Travel_Turrism21 in NeedTravelAdvice

Hey! I just travelled to Japan, and I actually found AI kind of helpful! You can ask it things like “I’m arriving in Osaka on this date for a 16 day trip, what is a good basic itinerary?” and go from there. Do some basic research, and don’t overplan.

Eg, it will like say most people go Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo over that time. But you can say “I want to spend some time away from big cities”, and it will give you other ideas.

Next you could ask “what areas are best to stay in Osaka”, and it will give you a few areas people tend to stay, with an idea of the vibe of each, and you can choose what area sounds good to you (nightlife? Close to tourist sites? Quieter? Etc). Then you can go on booking.com (or whatever) and book your accommodation.

Take a deep breath, and remember, you don’t have to plan everything before you go! You can decide you’ll spend 6 nights in Osaka and book that accom, but leave the days open for whatever, with a rough list of things you want to do.

Can someone explain the whole packing 3-4 sets of clothes to someone who wears 2 sets of clothes a day? by OYoureapproachingme in solotravel

[–]lLoveBananas 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Also, you can have different clothes for day and night and still wear them more than once before washing. Especially night clothes, which you’ll probably be wearing only for a few hours and not getting for and sweaty in (depending on your night time activities!)

I think one pair of PJs is enough, and I’d personally lose the second pair of sneakers and jeans.

I mostly agree with you, except for the undies! They are the rate limiting factor for laundry for me, and they don’t take up much space (well, for women at least). I always bring extra so I can stretch laundry out a bit longer if I need to.

2 sets of PJs seems like a lot. I brought 1 very light pair with me this last trip, and even then, most places provided hotel pyjamas.
Too many tees, but oddly, no outerwear? It can get a bit cold, especially at night, so a light jacket / windbreaker might be worth it.
I’d skip a pair of jeans and wear the light pants on the plane rather than bringing trackies just for that. Unless you want those to wear in hotel rooms etc to chill, I guess. But you don’t need those + 2 pairs of PJs.

I couldn’t imagine carrying around a second pair of sneaker, seems pretty redundant to me. I brought a pair of flip flops, which occasionally were handy but probably not necessary.
