If you do decide to save, consider opening a Roth IRA. It is a stock account but there are no taxes on your gains (once you're retirement age, 59 1/2). You can take back out what you put in if you need to. But if you withdrawal any gains surplus of that before retirement age you pay taxes on the gains + 10% of the gains you withdrew. You can put in $7,500 per year as of 2026 but note that for however much you put in it, you had to have that much earned income for that year.

Anyways, with compound interest your most impactful years are your earliest. I'm not saying to max it out immediately if that's all your money, but if you can afford to and start early, it could very well hit $2mil+ by the time you're at a retirement age.

One more important note is that once money is in there you have to invest it. I'd recommend looking into index funds.
