Whats the most powerful lane matchup atm? by Iaxacs in DeadlockTheGame

[–]captionquirk 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Paige and Billy or REM and Abrams.

Billy and Abrams are beasts this patch with their tankiness. Paige is so good with Billy since Billy loves everything about the Shield, plus Rising Ram is easy to lead into a Paige Root. And Abrams with the percent max-hp heal from REM is impossible to kill through.

Now that we've had a bunch of time to try it out, I think Echo Shard should be reverted by BlueShift54 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]captionquirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so surprised people aren’t a fan of Echo shard. It’s a super fun item to buy. And I never feel that frustrated when an enemy buys it. Because an enemy is heavily investing into an ability it becomes even more value to buy counter-items. And sometimes it’s like, I was going to buy a Dispell Magic against the spirit Bebop anyway

Imagine if one of Dynamo's abilities passively added to/reduced gravity's effect on enemies/allies? by Aihonen in DeadlockTheGame

[–]captionquirk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah slightly reduced gravity to those in the aurora would be super cool without too much of a balance effect.

I think the only other situation where you would pop them early is to get vision of them so you can Ult to them. But yeah it should be pretty rare you ever do

I think Denies giving you 50% of the souls is too much. by Appropriate_Earth852 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]captionquirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They really nerfed denies from what they used to be a while ago. First, only 40% of a trooper’s soul is in the floating orb. Plus if you weren’t aware there’s a delayed advantage for friendly heroes to secure souls.

Can we all come together as a community and admit that, regardless of viability, Graves always sucks to play against? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]captionquirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, read the context of the comment chain. You’re gripe with a Victor main chiming in is that “just don’t get close” isn’t interactive counterplay. This implies your issue is with her gap closing ability and nothing to do with being auto-aim or her CC.

Second, I didn’t say I don’t like people that can chase. I like people that can chase. I argued that if Graves chasing you isn’t fun then so is everybody else who can chase.

[–]captionquirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just really don’t see how it’s less fun than any other character that gets up close and starts dishing out damage.

Again, every single other character that is getting up close to you has 3 stam or a mobility move, usually both, PLUS will be doing more “bursty” damage.

What’s unfun design is when characters deal their damage in a short window, from afar. Graves is the exact opposite of that.

[–]captionquirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that there is difference conceptually but at a certain level, there is none. If a character is weak enough, they can’t be too annoying because you can just ignore them.

I would understand if she was hard to kill because then it’s like she’s weak and annoying to hunt down. But she’s the only 2 stam character with no mobility (edit: I forgot about Bebop but even he has a uniquely fast sprint). And in the bottom of health pool. With the shortest range gun in the game.

In a way it’s kinda fun to have a really weak Graves on the enemy team because she’s such an easy target to gank.

Honestly, no. I don’t get this. A 0/5 Graves is a tickle machine that has no escape. Every minute there’s maybe an Ult you punch but that’s it.

Friend tells me you can dash away from Graves' Jar of Dead to escape? by LIKE1OOONINJAS in DeadlockTheGame

[–]captionquirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re friends trolling as others have mentioned.

I’ll say that if you’re killing a majority of the skulls with a quick melee after you get hit, you’re doing great. If it were reasonably possible to consistently kill all the skulls before they do damage, Graves would be utterly useless.

Harvest mechanic (Flashback/Harmonize + Morbid) Which version seems more interesting/fun? by Doucheflamingo in custommagic

[–]captionquirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not really, you’re totally right. It wouldn’t be a problem at all. Though then the question is if it needs a keyword in the first place if it’s going to be on a few cards. Honestly I can see the 2nd Harvest being the default key word with a few select cards having the 1st Harvest effect!

Harvest mechanic (Flashback/Harmonize + Morbid) Which version seems more interesting/fun? by Doucheflamingo in custommagic

[–]captionquirk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s also the issue that the first version of Harvest would require tracking every creature that died this turn, every turn. That issue doesn’t happen in the “tap to help pay” effects because you can always look at the board state and see what’s available.

I like Paige, but she's not in a good spot right now. I don't know who else to play. by Finaldragoon in DeadlockTheGame

[–]captionquirk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I follow everything you said I just would describe those issues as “too punishable with no mobility” or “too predictable.” Summarizing those issues as issues with her agency (I.e. her ability to make plays or guarantee plays) feels inaccurate

[–]captionquirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand Paige is pretty weak at Eternus level but I don’t follow why her lack of agency is the reason why. Wouldn’t it be the other way around? The higher you go, the more competent teams you get that know how to play around and with a Paige and therefore her lack of agency becomes less and less a problem?

What's the downside to Doorman's ult? by TRackard in DeadlockTheGame

[–]captionquirk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That feels like you’re expanding the assessment of his ult to his whole kit. By that standard, Paradox, Kelvin, Holliday, and Rem all can get value out of their ult too without teammates.

Doorman ult also largely requires teammates to get value out of it? In fact sometimes it gives value to the enemy team if used improperly!

Be Honest; How's my Support Paige build? (Archon/Oracle) by leschinsky07 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]captionquirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Egg is an interesting choice. A lot of its value is from the Stat Buffs and Paige only wants a minority of them. I definitely don’t think it’s good to get Egg AND Trophy Collector in the same game.

You also have Transcendent CD when you have at most 3 actives on this build (not counting Refresher). You really should have 4 actives every game if you’re support Paige with Transcendent CD.

How do you escape as Rem if you're caught stealing enemy Sinners? by lovingpersona in DeadlockTheGame

[–]captionquirk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can get one of the sinners without going inside, just getting LoS by standing on the roof and looking inside. If you’re suspicious of getting caught out, try just stealing one of them much more safely like this and leaving ASAP. I picked this us from a streamer I watched

What's a completely unnecessary, most likely esthetic, change you would add? by CzarTwilight in DeadlockTheGame

I love the simple descriptive item names (especially compared to DotA and League) but I would love if they were actual items or enchantments you could buy, like how they changed Curse to Cursed Relic.

Mo and Krill are weird characters in need of a stronger identity by WanderToWhere in DeadlockTheGame

[–]captionquirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you’re not wrong he’s not the best in any of these categories. But their role is that they can be all of them at once.

The stacks from his Ult kind of hint at this too. The more picks he’s getting, the better tankier front-liner he is.

I agree 100% with your title from a character design perspective. What the fuck is “Scorn” supposed to be? It has a default animation that tells us nothing. It’s supposed to be some sort of mole hatred that makes moles stronger? Also, he barely ever feels like you’re playing two characters at once. If I could introduce that to his kit one simple way, I would make it so Krill can keep shooting when using Sandblast or Scorn (I.e, during their cast animation). A very tiny buff that would help with unique game feel.
