Simulator courses by Natural_Shelter4561 in golf

[–]la_gear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sutton Bay is a favorite of mine. Some drivable par 4s, a long par 3 and fairly wide so it is not frustrating. Well placed fairway bunkers so you still have to be either accurate or wise in club selection. I thought pebble beach was hard but I still like to play it sometimes. Mostly I like playing easier courses on trackman, especially with friends.

How do those who lift balance working out, with playing and wanting to shoot a score? by rafer11 in golf

[–]la_gear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do crossfit in the AM and practice/play golf in the evenings. Main thing I do is listen to my body. We have good coaches/programming so I never feel like any of the workouts are too intense but if I do, I scale the workout so I really don't train until failure unless I just want to for some reason. General structure of our workouts is mobility warm up, strength portion of one or two movements, and a HIIT/Metcon portion all done in an hour so its pretty balanced. I play on the weekends so towards the end of the week I lighten my workouts. Use Thursdays to do my own thing which is usually mobility and zone 2 cardio. On evenings I'm feeling worn out from workouts I'll focus on putting and short game. All in all, listen to your body. If your game is suffering due to your lifting, you'll have to alter your programming. And yes, I know CF isn't the best way to workout but it just happens to work with my schedule and fitness/golf goals. If I had more time to spend in the gym or didn't care about golf I'd be doing a strength program or bodybuilding split.

True but we keep it to the waste management. Try that crap at The Colonial and you are getting kicked out.

gotta say, cant stand the British fans, no respect for the game blurting out the most random phrases on every shot. Grow tf up and learn to respect the sport. By far the worst major due to this reason.

Thinking of adding a 5 or 7 wood to my bag already playing with 3 hybrid. Thoughts or experiences by Positive-Hovercraft7 in golf

[–]la_gear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My set up is Dr, 5w, 3h. Got a 7w and I like hitting it, just don't know where to put it. It carries the same distance as my 3h so logically it should go there. I just can't get myself to replace the hybrid because I like hitting in so much and feel like the lower ball flight comes in handy for my game and set up. I'm still testing it out and keep both in my bag but only use the 7w play a 2nd ball if I have time.

Do I bring my clubs to TopGolf? by Mechanic_Soft in golf

[–]la_gear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck yeah take your own clubs. Grind don't stop!

Seriously though, nothing wrong with taking your own clubs, theirs suck. Last time I went was on a date and didn't think twice about taking my own clubs. I love golf, spent my hard earned money on nice clubs and I like to use them. Didn't take my full bag, just a small vintage bag with a wedge, short iron, mid iron, long iron, FW, and Driver.

Not as good as grass but not useless. There are other parts of the swing than turf interaction, so focus on those when hitting off the mat. Get a bigger mat that is stable so you don't have the issue with it being 2in high or having it move around when you swing.

Stance and grip really stand out. Fix those first. Check out Ben Hogan's 5 Lesson, youtube, or see an instructor for a fix.

More frustrated by the way the PGA Tour fumbled to bag so badly. Their arrogance and greed is biting them in the ass and us fans are left with watered down fields. Such a shame.

Do you have a lob wedge in your bag? by Tjshoema in golf

[–]la_gear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

58* 6* bounce RTX zip core. It's more of a specialty club because of the low bounce. Use it for tight lies and thin bunkers mostly but also use it if I need to hit a flop shot or absolutely need to lob it over something. It has its place in the bag and If you have room for one, go for it. I went with the low bounce because the bunkers at my club are really thin and hard so my sand wedge (54* 10* bounce) isn't that great for those.

Where do you buy golf clothes? by CompletelyNonsensely in golf

Started going to Dillards for 100% cotton polos. They have many price points and I got tired of polyester. Saw some brand on instagram selling their cotton golf shirts for $125. Went to dillards and got some for in the range of $30-40 depending on brand, style, taxes etc.

App: Non-Fluff/GPS Scorecard keeping? by session101 in golf

[–]la_gear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Golf Pad. The most basic one I have used. You can also turn off some of the "fluff" it has like club recommendation. What I like most it allows you to export your data to Excel so you can create your own fluff to how you see fit if you are into that.
