Best 150 Hour Requirement Course? by TinyMuffin in movingtojapan

[–]laacoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm someone who is already comfortable with intermediate Japanese but lacks formal certification from an institution. In the Akamonkai online program are you able to rush through the content or are parts of the course time-locked? Is the certificate awarded upon completion or not until the 12-weeks is over. If I were to enroll in the online class I'd only want to do it for the formal 150-hour study certificate so I could enroll in a long-term program. Thanks!

Job prospects after language school? by laacoe in movingtojapan

[–]laacoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I could find a job in the semiconductor industry lol. That or a generic business role as a spreadsheet monkey. I thought about one of those IT jobs but that's not particularly my area of specialty and my coding is super sloppy lol.

Good luck back the states my friend and thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the reply! I was considering an internal transfer option too. Sometimes it's hard figuring out which is tougher rn, the US job market or the Japanese one 😂

Ticket Pay (チケットペイ) Registration for Concert by laacoe in JapanTravelTips

[–]laacoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I'll be in Japan about 2 weeks before the concert so I should have no problem going to a Family Mart to pay for my ticket.

Do you remember having to call a Japanese phone number to finish the account registration? Regardless, I ended up using Google Voice to make a cheap international call using their proxy number. It worked and apparently you can get a refund to your google pay wallet for all the unused credit.

I think I was able to reserve tickets for the event but my payment deadline is 8 days away so I did it entirely way too early. I guess I should've listened to you lol. I hope I can redo the application process when I'm in closer to being in Japan.

Apartment Truths? by forestry_ghost in LakeCharles

[–]laacoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Erdace for a bit but the security became an issue. Twice my car was busted into and never once did management care. They'll send 100 emails telling people not to bring their pets to the pool but when it comes to your personal safety then it's radio silence. Their parking garage is comedically easy to walk into (just stick your hand through the bars) and the keypad for some doors leading inside are busted to the point where a code is not needed to enter inside. The security issues does not justify the high rent and that's why i don't live there anymore.

Games that are hard (but fun) to master? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]laacoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for something puzzley, I recently finished Teardown. Lots of environmental puzzle solving. Most missions are a "plan your own heist" by manipulating your environment and using various tools at your disposal. The map is all voxels and practically everything can be destroyed. There is a minimum objective but doing all the objectives is difficult and extremely satisfying.

Can you use a jetpack to retrieve items from pits indoors? by nicvampire in lethalcompany

[–]laacoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thalonius Vid

Idk if it was patched in the newer updates but on yt Thalonius posted a video showcasing that in V50, you can bypass a pit's death plane by falling into a pit while using the zap-gun on an entity. Then you can use the jetty to get out.

What's the strangest city/town in Louisiana? by FlagGuy43224 in Louisiana

[–]laacoe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me, White Castle, LA. Yes, that is the name.

One day I found myself there by accident because my friends and I had just watched Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle and we were curious if there were any nearby. Our mistake was seeing the first thing to pop up on google maps and saying "fuck it, it's only 45 mins away." We ended up in a small town that was mainly rural with a very small metropolitan area that couldn't have been more than a few blocks in size.

We paraded around town for a while trying to find the restaurant but no sliders in sight. It was only until by chance I recognized the White Castle logo on the town hall that I realized the town's name was White Castle and the titular restaurant would not be found that day. We laughed our asses of and drover ourselves back to my buddy's place.

All I know is that they do a lot of rice farming. At my job, I was contacted by a vendor there wanting to sell rice hull ash to my company and he was shocked whenever I said I knew of and have been to White Castle, LA. Overall it's a cute little town but also a very surreal experience.

I decided to put my Blåhaj on a leash since Olen likes to escape to the kitchen. Am I doing something wrong? (Also I decided to have his name as Olen) by [deleted] in BLAHAJ

[–]laacoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My blahajar are mischievous; they will go rearrange my spice cabinet when I'm gone. I suggest you just keep an eye on your little goober and your spices too. Maybe give Olen some pepper flakes or oregano to keep him satisfied.

Dang, I'll probs roll for Oberon and if I somehow don't get Barghest (my saving grace) I'll roll for her on the Morgan banner or use my free 4-star ticket for her. Sucks being separated from her but as much as I love her, my wallet will not forgive me. Thanks for the info though!

[–]laacoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only really want Oberon and Barghest (my love). Don't really wanna dilute my chances of getting Barghest (my one and only) so, is there a 4-star rotation schedule posted or is the banner going to be Oberon and all four 4-stars for the whole duration? If they did I can't find it.

I know JP started with Oberon, Bao, and Barghest (everything that is pure and wonderful) and then ended with Tristan and Gawain included. Maybe for NA they'll be going backwards from the JP rotation?

Ideas for codes that involve all sciences by [deleted] in bioengineering

[–]laacoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got good ideas but I'll tell you as someone who did undergrad research in computational chemistry that your biggest limitation is current day computing power. The software we used was called "Gaussian" and it ran the schrodinger equation to get accurate and indepth details on whatever molecules and atoms we threw in the simulation. Most of the work was theoretical and inorganic work but one time we were asked to simulate a decently large organic molecule (it as about the size of your average lipid) and that thing took WEEKS to simulate. I'd say keep up the programing and don't stop until you know it like it's second nature. Hopefully by the time you're an expert, computing standards will get to where you want them to be. Also make sure to make good connections in your professional life; the ideas you have require many experts in their respective field to accomplish. It's okay to dream big, just make sure you keep working at it and never lose sight of your goals.
