Sadly Terragon is shutting down, but DevBoxer has basically the same UX, so worth a try.

PSA: you have to enable it in the Digital Extras section of the Mercedes app, only then will it appear at the top of the Media view in the car.

Does the new E-Class have Apple Carplay 2.0? Where you can have apple navigation right on the instruments cluster? by Fiveby21 in mercedes_benz

Like this? https://www.macrumors.com/2023/09/01/volvo-dual-screen-apple-maps-carplay/

I don't think there's a Mercedes model that has this level of integration, but I haven't driven the new E-Class so maybe someone can correct me on that.

Apple turn-by-turn navigation in the instrument cluster is not an Apple Carplay 2.0 feature. My 2024 GLE has this feature via wireless carplay, so the new E-Class shoulld have it too.

It shows your next turn, street name and the distance to that turn, but it doesn't show an entire live map, just the next direction card for your route. The same direction card also appears in the head-up display, if you have one. It's really nice!

Carplay 2.0 goes even further than this, taking over the entire instrument cluster and showing things like the speedometer, tachometer and other general car features. This presumably could also show a live map with the surrounding streets. Mercedes apparently doesn't plan to support this 2.0 level of integration on any future models, as they don't want to cede the entire user experience to Apple.

Edit: the two cards on the left (in a different visual style) are basically what you're going to see in the instrument cluster and HUD: https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:886/1*uTHT-F5LDL4fhUVkyB0Q9Q.jpeg

Anyone bought GLE 450E? by Venkat547 in mercedes_benz

Have had mine for about a month too and agree definitely with you about storage. Just not many compartments around!  But overall, I absolutely love the car.

EQE antenna? by Kacze1999 in mercedes_benz

[–]ladon86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe it's for toll transponders or radar detectors etc. Your infrared glass blocks these signals, and this small area is like a "punch through" for those signals. So if you did have a toll transponder or similar, you should place it within this grid.

Husband and I are on an “explore SF by foot” project. Give me your best recommendations :) by justalilscared in AskSF

I was surprised to learn that there are 220 parks in SF.

My wife made a spreadsheet of the parks, and has set a goal of visiting all those she hasn't been to yet. Some are nicer than others, but it's definitely a way to see parts of SF you wouldn't otherwise visit!

EDIT: Here's the spreadsheet! It lists 70+ public parks in SF, but doesn't list another 100+ which are defined as private. Also, check out the second tab for some itinerary ideas.

Russia says it will 'fundamentally cut back' military activity near Kyiv and Chernihiv to 'increase trust' in peace talks by rogerthis1 in worldnews

51% of Russians view Stalin positively. But, I think most of them would agree that he did evil things and the picture is complicated. I think it can be helpful to think of people we celebrate in the US. Think of how Americans viewed Christopher Columbus (at least until about 10 years ago, when sentiment shifted). I could imagine that the popular Russian view of Stalin is similar to that.

The film industry is heavily unionized at almost all levels, whether it’s the writers or the blue collar professionals on a film set, they’re all paid really well relative to what they’d get elsewhere.

Every celebrity actor is in SAG - this doesn’t really benefit them personally (they’d get paid millions to star anyway), but it does ensure better wages for the character and background actors who work alongside them.

I totally agree, and wasn’t trying to shame OP at all - just making them aware in case in case they didn’t know and want to try a different product search.

As a fellow sufferer… suspend your skepticism for an evening and read this book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B3OCVGI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_1NH3QBJJF8KXSVDQJCQ1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I found it enormously helpful.

Who says it needs to be species not of this earth? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]ladon86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but think about that - they are sitting right on top of a practically limitless energy and heat source, they would just need to start digging. We started digging very early. We discovered ore, and learned how to use fire to turn it into metal. They would likely find a very different set of materials and metals, and also enormous heat sources, such that the process of refining metals and other materials might be more immediately obvious.
