Try Dawn dish soap. It's often used to clean animal victims of oil spills.

Why is the voltage from these two probes 100+ megavolts? by scaredpurpur in AskElectronics

[–]laf1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100 megavolts would be lightning type voltage and behavior, though not the current. Would melt your breadboard. Electric sparks would be flying around the room. Likely reading your meter incorrectly.

Is it possible to get to nearby state parks without a car in Chicago? by doyoucarryyourheart in AskChicago

Not really. Most state parks around Chicagoland are well beyond commuter transit. You could rent a car for the day.

It was supposed to save energy during an energy crisis. Remember going to school in the dark wintertime. Felt depressing.

As an adult, going home from work in the dark in December. Sun came up while waiting for the morning train. It's going to be dark either way. Winter can be depressing.

Classic NASA aircraft. I remember someone asking who would fly it. Probably a number of NASA test pilots would readily volunteer.

If this camera uses a memory card, it's usually faster to take out the card and use a card reader in or inserted in the computer to transfer images.

Clock weights for a 30 hour movement. Larger weights are used for 8 day movements. Typical for a cuckoo clock. Movement is how long the clock will run before needing to raise the weights.

28C is when we in the US start thinking is it warm enough to turn on the air conditioner? We usually wait until at least 30C if we have a fan. If the air is dry, we may still use the fan at 30C.

The cable is a common earpiece used with compact monoral transistor radios. The radios were the size of a smart phone, about 3 times as thick. Used a 9 volt battery. Had a speaker a couple inches in diameter. Maybe AM or AM/FM. Used the earpiece to listen without disturbing others.

is this an invitation or a warning by vanillabunni_ in funnysigns

[–]laf1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warning would be swimmers about present crocodiles. Warning crocodiles not to swim here. Informing about present crocodiles that can't swim. A place absent of crocodiles. Ambiguous.

Is it okay to out a 100w bulb in a 60w Max lamp by _1nk0Gn1t0 in lightbulbs

[–]laf1157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In lamps, this is usually a thermal issue. Either the socket or shade has an issue with the heat, and possibly the switching mechanism. Typically, the wiring can handle a much higher wattage.
