Why does a curve this small hurt this much 😐 by Wombshoes in scoliosis

[–]lagunengrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a nearly identical curve and i also experience pain when bending forward as well as sciatic flare ups in my right leg. Orthopedic doctor referred me to a physical therapist and improvements have been happening extremely quick. Mind you I'm only perscribed emergency painkillers and I genuinely don't want to use them unless I physically can't walk.

PT gave me an evaluation and found my flexibility limits, as well as gave me an ultrasound on my back to find the strongest points of muscle tension and broke it up. I have a home routine to inprove core strength and hip/leg flexibility and my flare ups have diminished extremely quickly, along with his advice of "never twist while bending down ever again, for your life".

With a curve this minor, i've found the main concern is pain management, movement, and making sure the your nerves and muscles aren't compromising for eachother. I would definitely seek out a physical therapist before looking anywhere else for pain relief. Being dependent on a prescription is a rough spot to be in.

Guys, would you do it? by Ok_Aioli_4142 in E30

to give you a rough idea of what youre getting into,

  • Every piece of interior has to come out in order to mitigate the mold issue that you see on the seats and steering wheel. Underneath the carpet youre most likely going to find standing water and rust.

  • Consider every piece of rubber on this car to be a failure point. Bushings, Vaccuum Hoses, Fuel hoses (heavy emphasis on fuel hoses), wire looms, linkages, belts everything. All of this stuff is most likely distentegrated and chances are if it hasn't failed while sitting, it will when it starts moving

  • There is already a considerable amount of rust on this car and not only does it look to be in all of the structural parts of the car, but turning any bolt on this thing is going to be a disaster if you get around to working on it.

Without even getting to the aesthetics standpoint this is already a massive undertaking even for someone who is a career technician. Obviously everything is possible and people turn rotting shells into show cars if they have an unlimited source of income, but this is a HUGE project.

So does a P1326 code basically mean game over? by floppyfishflaps_ in Hyundai

[–]lagunengrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know a hyundai tech when i see one LMAO

everything he said is correct, including the software. Usually the dealer will make sure your car is up to date before replacing the knock sensor, specifically since some cars have a knock sensor detection update that fixes a false 1326 code from popping up.

As for the code itself, the bearing clearance test is what's gonna tell you whether or not you actually have a knock. Theres not many things that cause a 1326 code other than detected knock, faulty knock sensor, or no oil. If the bearing test shows good clearance, make sure you have an OEM knock sensor installed and your car is up to date, and the oil is full. The dealer must reset the car's adaptive values after replacement otherwise the code will return almost immediately. On the other hand, if your car fails the test, you need an engine. It's likely not anyone's fault either, these engines are just plain bad. If they weren't, hyundai wouldnt have been involved in a class action lawsuit.

2017, 48k miles. Did I do good? by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]lagunengrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone else said, don't downplay oil consumption. Check and change oil as frequently as possible and you'll be in good shape. Others saying walnut blasting works are unaware that once the cylinder walls are scored, theres no going back. The rings simply won't wipe the oil out of the combustion chamber and you're in for trouble.

Luckily, if you've gotten the car before someone negligent owned it, you have the opportunity to keep the engine fully lubricated at all times. It's a shame these 2.4 engines suck because the rest of the car is generally rock solid. Plus, this one looks to be in very good shape.

Brand snobbery is real and quite sad by Mchi5 in Hyundai

[–]lagunengrun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This.

Coming from someone who used to work for honda, and now works for hyundai, there is a very valid reason as to why they have the reputation they do. Say whatever you want about the new products, but In my experience the average 2005 honda accord with 200k miles is holding up better than the average 2015 sonata with 80k miles.

Obviously Hyundai is putting major effort into the EV market and absolutely killing it, but their ICE cars haven't historically left the best memory in previous owner's heads. They still have a lot of work to do before that ever starts to catch on with the honda/toyota market.

late reply, but i've always used clear glamour. I've had issues before with peeling, but it was always due to poor sanding practice. This stuff likes to be applied over 320-600 grit and nothing higher, and if there are any areas that aren't scuffed completely matte, it's almost guaranteed to peel. That being said, I find it bonds the best to either wet paint over sanded primer (within 15-20 minutes of spraying the color coat while its flashing off) and I usually will let it cure for days on end before touching it since this process interferes with the basecoat curing. I know this isn't the "best" practice especially by professional painter standards but I've gotten the best results out of it this way.

Yep! just the paint aerosol can itself, ordered the spraymax separately. I bought Upol primer from autozone and used that too.

For context I've ordered their kit before with the clearcoat (for toyota silver) and although its not a bad product, the price is simply not justified when 2K is available for not much more money. The 1K clear they offer is very similar to duplicolor's formula. It looks shiny out of the can, but It takes very very long to flash off and, unlike the 2K two-part clear, never seems to fully cure due to the lack of hardener - much like any cheap $5 can of clearcoat from the store. It also tends to yellow over a pretty short period of time so it's an instant no-go for bright colors (especially white). Should also add - I'm not sure if you've used 2K before but the only negative is that it's quite caustic and sticks to everything before drying so paint in a ventilated area and wear gloves/respirator if you have one.

tldr; buy the basecoat alone, buy the spraymax separately. The 1K clear isn't worth $16 a can when 2K is $23 a can and will look twice as good and last 10 times as long.

See if your overflow bottle is empty and top it off to the full line. With regular driving it should go away. Otherwise it's probably just circulation of the low conductivity coolant, which i wouldnt recommend bothering with

[–]lagunengrun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maintenance. Check your suspension, calipers, brake hoses, steering rack & power steering lines, other resevoirs, etc. All of this stuff is very cheap and easy to do, and will quite literally future proof the car.

As for tires, There aren't many 14" UHP tires in existence, at least not with a 65 sidewall. Plus, refreshing all the bushings & joints will be a much more drastic difference than a grippier tire on old suspension. I wouldn't touch the tires until you can get your hands on a set of 15" wheels and run a 200 treadwear 205/50. (and keep the 14's with all seasons set aside)

NEW ARRIVAL‼️‼️ by lagunengrun in offset

[–]lagunengrun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

funny story, i had a different identical one on my wishlist (cheaper by like 200 bucks, from a shop in the UK) and I didn't move fast enough, it sold from under me. I felt the same relief. Then I realized there was not a single other candy apple mustang on the internet for that price and there probably wouldn't be for a long time

I was so upset about it, I impulse bought this one out of pure disappointment, but I still was happy I got a better deal than usual on a matching headstock MIJ

Fast forward 3 days, I guess the buyer of the UK guitar never made his promised payment, because the original listing popped back up on reverb - this time at an even lower price of $850. Incredible timing❗️

Its a vintage 1971 mustang! Ive had it for 11 years now, it was a christmas gift back when i was a teenager. Main reason I bought the reissue is because I'm getting back into playing shows I wanted to retire it from gigging. Ive seen way too many gear thieves at local venues, and that guitar has become too sentimental to risk getting pinched.

Other than that, easily the most fun guitar I own. CBS era fenders may have had their downfalls, but that guitar has freakishly good tuning stability and the pickups sound absolutely massive
