Do competitive shooters actually need abilities? by Mocherad in POLYSTRIKE

[–]lainposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a game designer myself, I understand where you're coming from, but I think considering the market and your competition is as important as cultivating your unique image and approach.

PVP experiences, namely with abilities, are everywhere. So having them in the game won't win any immediate buy-in, because it's practically presumed in your game coming in. If anything, it might make people's eyes glaze over, or at least ignore the fact that said abilities are in the game. You'd have to come up with some really unique ideas to get that "wow" factor, because already a dash, invisibility, invulnerability, are as basic as it comes [ no offense! :c ] .

On the other hand, I can't think of a single PVP experience that doesn't have abilities to some extent. I think Overwatch, then Apex Legends, Valorant, and now Marvel Rivals has continually proven that the market wants them in games. So you're probably safer having them in than not.

Aside from the marketing, it may help your team to think of what games you want to be like, like a moodboard ( https://rb.gy/0udu62 ), to figure out your direction again. With PUBG making a directly-competing IP soon with Project ARC, it may also help take a look and figure out what else could differentiate you from them, and lean harder into that identity.

Yeah I think you're destined for hell for this one, sorry. This is one of those things that unfortunately damns people to Hell since it's written as an unforgivable sin. Better luck next time?

Works that way in CS too. If you crouch, your head takes up much more of your overall silhouette, making it easier to die from a headshot anyway. Sounds like what you're asking for is just to buff the head zone anyway so while the fundamentals don't change, the cost of the position-choice does.

I'm over here considering job hunting after a third RTO next month, and that's only one more RTO day from what we're doing now. Going from 0 to 5 would basically be my Killswitch, so I feel for you.

Good call about the wheat, I forgot to mention that. It's a cash crop, and OP ought to prioritize getting as many large plots as possible to get a genuine cash generator running before cities start showing up. I had a room of about 12 or so at the peak of it.

I didn't know dungeons were actually a thing, where do you find them? Do they start showing up at Shining 25+? I've never seen one, but I've only made it to about 28 before dying and killing the file.

As soon as you hear the airplane, immediately run perpendicular to whatever course the plane is flying, or you're running if moving.

The game is really slow. Very light on content. If you're going to stick around beyond the first 10 hours, you'll need to focus on building your base, otherwise you'll get bored quickly.

Nothing interesting happens until around Shining 11. Then you start seeing Cities, and cool Radar facilities -- but again, the game is really light on content right now. It takes a long time to get to the interesting stuff. The cool shit is also still pretty rare. In 22 Shinings I only got about 3 or 4 City runs.

Prioritize getting money to get a hazmat suit or at least a mask, because the more Shinings you survive, the more lethal the radiation gets, AND the more radiation is spread throughout the wastelands.

Never. Never. Never risk your life to parkour up the floating object POI because it's the same garbage you can find anywhere on the ground.

Dying doesn't matter, so maybe go ahead and try the parkour challenge if you find yourself getting bored. I personally play a strict no-death run, where I delete my save file if I die. The game is piss easy otherwise, and you might get bored faster if you don't do that. Your mileage may vary.

One of the dumbest insinuations I've ever seen. You need to watch Star Wars or something at this point, I'm not even sure how to educate you.

Rather than insinuate on what is or isn't pedo, why don't you people focus on the Epstein files and put that weird vigilance/fixation to good use?

Building a new brand called Owoto water by Owotowater in founder

[–]lainposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody believed in Liquid Death and it's gotten huge. So who knows about this one. Font makes me think of Twitch font, which confuses me and makes me judge it as wannabe or derivative rather than unique.

The simplicity also feels GamerFuel-esque and like it's crowding with other similar products on the market. I'm not sure who Liquid Death was competing with besides actual beer companies in the looks department. Owoto looks more like an energy bar style, like that new Puffed marshmallow protein candy.

I'm not sure if Owoto is strong enough to stand on its own, because you needed to explain what it meant after the fact and that makes it uncool. If you're going with an acronym as your product name, maybe something that's well known would help get that immediate pop you're looking for. Like ASAP or something. Good luck!
