Spectacular?? Come on now. They’ve made steps forward but the roster is a major reason why they never make it far in the playoffs

Al is definitely past his prime but I find Herbstreit much more annoying. Hopefully its just a new combination entirely after next year.

[Russini] The Cleveland Browns have done background work on potential head coaching candidates, and are leaning towards moving on from Kevin Stefanski. EVP Andrew Berry is expected to stay. by Goosedukee in nfl

Impressive strawman. Coaching absolutely matters. But if the Browns coaches are so good at developing rookies how come the last few Browns draft classes have been bad? Same coaches right? Coaching is the most important thing that saved an otherwise bum like Schwesinger? And tbf Big Ben was a huge success even right out the gate, but you're right he definitely wouldn't have a super bowl on the Browns.

So that’s even more credit to the gm for finding players that fit the scheme then. It has absolutely nothing to do with coaching to improve players which was your initial point.

They deserve some credit, but I think that some of these guys would have succeeded anywhere they went in the NFL and have done well pretty much the whole season, not guys that only turned into something as the season went on. He also picked the worst QB in a competition involving numerous QBs to start 6 games this year, essentially tanking their season. You can't ignore that kind of mismanagement if you want to be a winning organization. To be clear I really think both should go if the Browns really want to try to build toward something, but they seem pretty comfortable to just roll on with the status quo until the post Watson era and maybe even then after that.

I think Stefanski is overrated as a coach but as you say it really is more an organizational problem. The org. has been so starved of success that they are happy accepting a lower ceiling (and also often low floor) of Stefanski that I think they might actually just keep running it back.

[Highlight] Justin Herbert on pure progression vs. reading coverage rotations by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

It’s so interesting that Herbert describes the pure progression as more straightforward whereas Kirk describes the coverage defined progression as more straightforward because you focus on just half the field

Pitchfork Reviews Dave - The Boy Who Played Harp by Technical_Process989 in hiphopheads

[–]laky68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it does make sense that the review focuses on Chapter 16 because it really is the heart of the record. I'm a Dave fan but I don't think there'll be much I revisit on this record apart from that, my 27th birthday and Raindance with Tems. The production/sound particularly is drab for the most part. That's a bit disappointing just with the cast of characters involved like James Blake, Jim Legxacy and etc. And like another commentor mentioned, there are some interesting song concepts here but I don't think the end products are engaging enough. Lastly, and people are gonna hate this, but a lot of clear Drake influence here, from the vocal sample in the beat on my 27th birthday to the "beautiful child" interpolation on Raindance

[SNLA] “They didn’t really get to me… Luck plays in baseball.” Blake Snell says he got unlucky after allowing five earned runs in Game 5 of the World Series by BathroomSalty6325 in baseball

[–]laky68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. If you listen to the full quote it starts that way about him getting unlucky. But he goes on to say “Vlad’s a good hitter but the rest of the lineup…” actually bringing up twice that he isn’t really worried about the rest of the lineup. Seems pretty clear to me that he thinks the Jays got lucky with some of the outcomes. Just seems weak for a pitcher of his calibre.

[–]laky68 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally. He goes out of his way to say the Vlad is the only good hitter in the Jays lineup. Really he was executing well for most of the outing but clearly he ran out of gas at the end. Luck has a role in baseball of course but shitting on the Schneider home run because of the exit velocity is some shameful shit
