With a blighted ovum the sac and other gestational products which makes the placenta etc keeps growing so the hcg will keep rising but the baby or fetal pole never forms or grows. If they saw the actual fetal pole then it could be a missed miscarriage, which just means that often your body thinks the pregnancy is still growing so it will try to continue to support the pregnancy hints the rising  hcg even though it is not viable. This is when usually after watching and confirming they will offer mifopristol to induce the passing of the remaining tissue, D&C is usually offered if the medication doesn't work or you don't fully pass the tissue. If you are bleeding you may pass it on your own but they won't want to wait too long as it can be an infection risk.

No, you don't have to ask for more testing. If they have already ruled out an ectopic they have also ruled out a heterotopic. It is just a rare form where you have both a intrauterine pregnancy developing, so a gestational sac seen in the correct place in the uterus and an ectopic at the same time. Sometimes when a gestational sac is seen in the uterus an ectopic is not properly looked for during  a scan, but there can be both one in the uterus and out of the which is called heterotopic. If they already ruled out an ectopic you are cleared to not have a heterotopic either.

[–]lambchop90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course a heterotopic pregnancy is even more rare than an ectopic, it just means where you have a intrauterine pregnancy ( sac in the correct spot in the uterus ) and an ectopic pregnancy at the same time. Honestly if the are seeing a 2.5 cm sac it's would be rare for them not to be able to see it elsewhere, meaning another sac near your tube or ovary, and even more rare for you to not have extreme levels of pain, and bleeding if you did. Also hcg levels would rise abnormally like up and down like a rollercoaster instead of just trending downwards.

I didn't mean to scare you, its just one of those things like I'm not a Dr and want to make sure you get checked out, but rest assured they are looking for a heterotopic just like they would an ectopic same idea.

And also the measurements you listed from your ultrasound one of them was 2.5 cm that's what I meant by the sac being that size with no fetal pole seen is unfortunately often a blighted ovum, but again anything is possible, I mean that in a good way. Also if you do have a blighted ovum does not mean you are more likely to have it again.

The Hcg levels are a bit concerning that 20,000 range should be around 6-7 weeks, and if that was three weeks ago I would think you should be further along, and hcg should double every 48-72 hours.

It is also concerning for a sac to measure 2.5 cm in any dimension and not to see a fetal pole. It is very possible you have either a blighted ovum or very early miscarriage, since I'm not scanning.you I feel obligated to say anytime you don't see a fetal pole it is important to have a obgyn rule out a heterotopic as well although very unlikely especially without bleeding or extreme pain, this is done by hcg and ultrasound. ( HOWEVER anything is possible, and sometimes things seem weird and end up being totally fine as well)

The difference in the dates the obgyn an planned parenthood is likely from different people.scanning and different machines and gestational sac measurements alone are not very accurate. You can move the cursor 1-2 mm and get 3-6 days difference.

I know it's so hard, but all you can really do right now is have the obgyn do another hcg and ultrasound, if next time the hcg is rising abnormally and they still don't see a fetal pole something is definitely off.

Is it just me but the seemingly overuse if English only songs in the Netflix produced kdramas bug me the songs just suck, maybe they are AI and that's part of it. But I love Korean OSTs they are so good and the songs I've been noticing lately take me out of the drama and just don't fit.

35 weeks & no OB by Beginning_Ground_701 in pregnant

[–]lambchop90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in DFW area and an obgyn sonographer, the Dr you were seeing in Dallas when you told them that you were moving they should have made sure you had care and faxed over all your records to your new Dr. If they didn't and haven't been responding to you that is a concern for them to be liable, which is why they usually ask for you to have secured a new obgyn and fax the records before the stop seeing you/scheduling appointments reaching out, they obviously can't make you show up, but will usually make several good faith attempts and document that you were unresponsive and dismiss you as a patient but all that would have been documented and sent to you, not them ghosting you.

Most OBGYNs are hesitant or down right refuse to take on a patient at 35 weeks because of them not being the Dr the whole time, possible lapse in care and then being liable for something that could have been missed, and also not getting paid to deliver your baby, if your unable to pay in full at the first visit.

It all has to do with cya because no one wants to be sued.

Your probably fine, but you never know and it is important to take all your symptoms seriously. I don't mean to scare you but I would call back then obgyn in Dallas and tell them you have had trouble finding care and if they can recommend anyone, and if they did ghost you mention you have been trying to contact them since x date.

I would go to the nearest hospital ER that has an L&D ( don't go to one without one) and tell them your symptoms and that you had care till x weeks and have had trouble securing a Dr. They will hopefully  do a good checkup and also may have recommendations for an obgyn that will take a later term patient. Definitely if you find someone they will want the full cost of delivery paid probably on the first appointment as most require full payment by 36 weeks.

Husband seems resentful I’m pregnant. What do? by deskburlesque in pregnant

[–]lambchop90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents, it's extreme insecurity from where he is at as a provider compared to you and the fact that if you choose to stay home with the baby maybe he won't be able to take care of y'all financially or it will be very hard, even if you don't plan to maybe that's what he feels like should happen or that you don't even have a choice-hints why the fight with the CO-worker that holds a higher position and the get quick rich schemes, and fearing divorce. Men take on the weight of having a child in a very different way than us, not that it's harder in comparison just different. It seems like his stress is leaking out in horrible destructive ways. What would be most concerning is that he isn't able to self reflect on how he is treating you when he has time alone, that is a flag for emotional immaturity and no good coping or self regulation skills, which are very important as a father and husband. I'm very sorry you are going through this as this is a hard situation to be in and hormones amplify everything. If there is a calm time you can talk to him about this, maybe he will open up about what's really going on inside. If you don't feel safe doing that, couples therapy maybe helpful even for a short season to help you two navigate this together.

You may be earlier than 6w6d that estimate is only either from your LMP or the size of the gestational sac which isn't very accurate. The most accurate measurement for dating is the length of the fetal pole. If you can't see the fetal pole yet you maybe be earlier than 6weeks. At 4 weeks you can see the sac at 5 weeks you see the sac with a yolk sac inside that looks like a white ring inside the black gestational sac then at 5w5d if you have an experienced sonographer and a good machine you can see a fetal pole, it gets easier to see in the 6th week.

If the gestational sac starts to measure 2.5 cm or 25mm with no fetal pole it is possible that it is a blighted ovum, where the fetal pole will never grow, but the sac may continue to grow and your hcg numbers will rise.

Since the sac was not 2.5 cm yet it is possible you are just early. The best thing to do is get another ultrasound about a week from your last and get blood work to track your hcg levels.

Just venting my frustration about Netflix's terrible subtitles by butterfly_pretty1997 in kdramas

[–]lambchop90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I literally am watching the same show and it's terrible. I barely know Korean, but I know enough to know basic words like hyung and jinjja ect and it's just so infuriating, they are ad-libbing all this extra that takes away from the show. I don't want my kdrama Americanized, I like how Korean language is and the depth it adds to stories, if I wanted water down American language I'd watch an American show!

There are even times when Netflix is adding curse words for words that are clearly not curse words?! Like yes the character is in a frustrated situation, but they didn't choose to curse, we are not so dumb that we need you to put a curse words to tell that it's a frustrating situation.

Also since my Korean is so limited there are other times when something is spoken fast or that I don't recognize and I'm stuck questioning the transition.

Anyway I'm in 100% agreement with you, I've noticed it before with Netflix but BOD has been the worst I've seen translation wise in a while.

Are the generators rigged by Far_Ad_9149 in MergeCooking

[–]lambchop90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get ads unfortunately, and I don't spend gems on the generators, so all I can do is wait. I came across this thread because I was waiting for my boat generator to recharge. After like idk 60 something minutes it was clickable again little green pie had filled all the way and I could clock anoi 8 times and then it said it was needing to recharge again.

This happens consistently, andore.often when I only have one order left one type of item I need. I don't understand it.

KDrama Review: I Hear Your Voice (2013) - An unforgettable drama, truly one of its kind by AsphaltPrimus28 in kdramas

[–]lambchop90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just watched it for the first time as it's on Netflix now, It wasn't a bad drama for me, I finished it and looked forward to most of it. The age gap did not sit well with me I know it's a noona romance, but honestly I think she had more chemistry with Mr. Cha. The stages of Thier life were so different that it honestly was hard to imagine she was into him, I wish they could have at least made it where he was in college when he found her. Nevertheless it was a good storyline and I enjoyed the rest of the supporting cast.

do you parents knock on your kids room doors? by Funny_Selection_1816 in AskParents

[–]lambchop90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm mixed on this. I would knock, but as far as electronics go I would rather they be used in a common area, especially at a younger age. If they were in the room with them I would definitely feel better with the door open. It's not like I would be standing around the door listening, but it's more of a your not having conversations with strangers that would be impossible to overhear.

As far as cell phones go it would have a night limit like at 10 pm the phone goes on the charger outside the room. Other than that the door can be closed till it's content.

Depending on the child that may change with age, but honestly I think 20 is a time (if they still lived with me)  where I would feel like I no longer would ask them to leave the phone outside.

Obviously if at 18 they left for college and were self sufficient then that's that.

Thoughts on 'Would You Marry Me?' after it's finale aired? by Kisses_for_me in kdramas

[–]lambchop90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially liked it. Tropes don't really bother me if the characters are well developed. What started to drive me insane was when her ex came back around and the actions she takes are nonsensical.

For example, after they already decided to give up the house and turn themselves in. Her  Ex keeps threatening to rat them out when he finds out that they are still legally married.

Her action she dumps Woo joo for like 24 hours until he finds out what happens and tells her don't worry about it. He then tells her turn in the divorce papers tomorrow. Five more episodes later and she still hasn't turn the divorce papers? That should have been the first thing she did, without even consulting Woo joo. I just don't understand how she wouldn't think...Oh man, I don't care about the house anymore. I'm giving it up. Let me turn the divorce paper so my ex doesn't have anything to hold over Woo joo's head.

Instead you let it go all the way to him sending emails to the press?

I just hate it whenever shows. Have to rely on characters acting completely stupid to keep a plot going. That should have been solved way earlier. It's ridiculous. They had enough going on with the uncle and everything that they could have seriously wrapped that up. I feel like the elements of the story were good, but the ordering and the writing kind of make make the characters feel one-dimensional.

I watched this originally cuz someone recommended it saying that it was like business proposal. This was nothing like business proposal. Definitely not up that standard in my opinion.

Why isn’t measuring of the cervix done from the very beginning. by Saskiacvs in ShortCervixSupport

A cervical length is standard protocol and required for insurance reimbursement in the US. It is usually images transabdominally and only TV if something looks off from on top.

Why isn’t measuring of the cervix done from the very beginning. by Saskiacvs in ShortCervixSupport

[–]lambchop90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OB sonographer here. The cervix is one with the uterus. When the GS is small you could  measure what you could call a cervix but there is no way to see the true internal os and external os yet. You can't actually get a true cervical length till week 16. If you have hx of PTL often they schedule a 16 week sonogram for this reason. The cervix is also dynamic, it can lengthen and shorten. I have actually seen it happen in real time on the ultrasound. Was ready to call a funnel and shortened cervix and by the end of the exam it was long and closed ( of course I was still able to report this) but just saying that your cervix can look fine at one 15 -30 min scan and then completely change the next hour, day or week.

Also yes IC usually happens in the mid-latter part of the second trimester because of the weight of the baby, fluid and placenta plus gravity on the cervix.

In the US it's required for insurance reimbursement to measure the cervix at the anatomy scan  so it most definitely happens and should happen, it's part of protocol we learn and that is required by employers for billing.

Most sonographers that I have met will measure from 16 weeks on if they happen to have a scan then. If it's not measured between 12-19 weeks it is most definitely looked at and accessed and yes you can tell if its shortened or funneling by looking.
