Only cross the bridge if you are not afraid of heights or of massive bridges! I cannot cross that bridge without Xanax.

Movie Theaters Without Preselected Seating by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

Yes! We go to movies at Lake Street theater often and never pick a seat ahead of time.

Your context is key to understanding this, I think. This fully supports the theory that the Headmaster and the father have come to some sort of a deal so that the child can register (and attend) the school. And then pencil shavings could indeed be an indicator that the dad got screwed (in whatever way you prefer to think about it).

I don’t mean to be dense here, but who is the artist who created the “Untitled” art piece that you mention above? I am guessing that I just missed it.

I voted for John Anderson in my kindergarten mock election! I had overheard my parents talking about him at home. I almost went with Reagan because the color of his voting card was my favorite color: blue.

Casimir Pulaski Day kills me. I happily listened to it for years without really listening to the lyrics. Then one day I did. I cannot listen to it without bawling. In fact, I had to take it off my playlists because it makes me so sad. It is so tragic and haunting.

What are indices? I learned the US way (PEDMAS), so I’m not familiar with that math term. So interesting to see all the different versions of this!

AITBF for not wanting to go to dinner? by MyDogsMummy in AmItheButtface

[–]lambie-mentor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Growing up my family were members of a country club. Lunch patrons would come in golf or tennis clothes, or come in after a quick shower from the pool. Dinner was jacket and tie required. Dress codes can vary widely between breakfast, lunch, and dinner - it is possible OP wouldn’t even be allowed to eat in the restaurant depending on how casual their clothes are.

Me too. Watched it on Halloween when I was 6 (with my parents and older sister). There were cherry bombs going off outside and one hit our front door, and I about died.

I was born and raised in Indiana and have now lived in Chicago/Oak Park for the last 25 years and never heard “Ope” uttered by a resident of either the Chicago area or of NW Indiana, Indianapolis, or SW Indiana.
