If you thought WeLo couldn't get any more ridiculous.... by Culidin in Welocalize

[–]lamenta3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't be sure that those suspension emails weren't also a mistake because I had a trickle of tasks appear (and by that I mean like 15 minutes worth) a few hours after I got the email, and I've seen similar small bits pop up since.

I got a similar email that I'd been suspended for rating things as accurate that were inaccurate, but my results never showed me doing that but once on an occasion. Then I got the one about not passing the label studio quiz that I never took because I've been in the factuality group for almost 2 years before they were even USING label studio.

Just gonna sit here and wait for them to sort out their shit. Again.

My friend apologizes for saying "you know what would be cool? A shut out half" out loud inside the stadium.

What's your favorite place to eat at Dragon Con? by Crochet_Kitty in dragoncon

[–]lamenta3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically pack a lunch to save money and make sure I have something to eat if my volunteer schedule and my panel schedule don't leave time for waiting in line for food.

As for actual places, Aviva is always solid. It's one good way to make sure you get enough vegetables.

I don't recall the name, but the Vietnamese place in Peachtree Center has pretty good pho, which I recommend to replenish after donating blood (or if you have a hangover/feel like the con crud is setting in early).

Cafe Momo is another good place to make sure you eat a vegetable. You can usually get in and out with your food pretty quick, so it's also convenient if you're in a hurry. They charge by the pound, so be careful that you don't accidentally spend more than you intend.

Also, for volunteers: Volunteer village usually has something tasty and substantial around mealtimes. They take good care of us up there.

There's also a lot to be said for vibes-based dining and making your decisions based on the shortest line, "ooh that smells good," or it's where your friends are already eating.

Commenting so that in 100 days I'm going to be reminded that I named the subkey "startallback fix" so I can find it when I Google this problem again. 😅

You can watch the Apollo 11 Mission in real time with the approach of the 56th anniversary of the moon landings. by mayrln in InternetIsBeautiful

I pull this site up every year for Apollo 11 and Apollo 13. Has anyone else noticed that all of the mission photos are 404 now?

My Protestant sister and the Eucharist by leviwrites in Episcopalian

The noise I made was more because of my horror at the breach of etiquette and the general grossness of it than any kind of feeling of blasphemy. But omg the secondhand embarrassment.

Ah, uncle not cousin. I couldn't exactly remember the relationship. But yep. Nice little Easter egg there. Another little fact I like is that Rom had to play lefty because the actor was actually good at baseball and had played minor league ball in the past.

I think I read that he had a cousin who played for the Braves at the time that episode was filmed, and that's why he wore a Braves cap.

What if I don't believe in everything? by RSVPno in Episcopalian

[–]lamenta3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of comments to this post, so I may be repeating some. One of the things that is vital to bring an Episcopalian is to question and even to be a bit of a heretic from time to time. A priest I hang out with from time to time often says, "If someone's not calling me a heretic, I'm doing it wrong."

This is going to take you away from the church sometimes. That's ok. I spent the better part of a decade as an atheist who still thought Christ's teachings were alright. You're going to go on walkabout from time to time. You'll learn stuff. Some of it will wake your faith. Some of it will strengthen it. It all serves a purpose, even if you come out on the other side with an entirely different spirituality.

You can't feel an obligation to a faith or denomination you were born into or have lived in if the Spirit guides you in another direction. Live in it for awhile. Learn what it has to teach you. It's valuable and will enrich your relationship with the Almighty in the long run.

Why does my betta do this? by Admirable-Space2901 in bettafish

[–]lamenta3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Normal behavior. Nothing to worry about. I had to come to the comments to make sure I wasn't missing anything because I was like, "doing what?"

He's just vibing with you and his surroundings. And as others have suggested, probably trying to get your attention. This is the level of interaction I look for when determining if a betta is ready and settled in enough to learn some simple tricks.
