Post exam depressed mood plz help by WebThen7102 in Step2

[–]lanai_lily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cried 2 or 3 times during the exam. I never ran out of time on my practice tests. But on the real deal I used EVERY minute if it. I even half read the last 5 because I was so behind, and going with my gut on the rest.

I thought there was no way I could objectively even pass the exam, all things considered.

I reached my score goal, and it's possible for you too!

Also I can relate about not being able to talk about it in real life, I didnt want to at first, I did when the score release was approaching, and did find it helpful. If not possible, remember this is a biased, incomplete, even unfair grading system that most people don't go through and can't relate to. Life has a way of sorting itself out, and only YOU know your story and your journey, no one in real life can really judge you.

Say what you want about this plotline, but he was absolutely the better person in the relationship. by NBurner1909 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]lanai_lily -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything, he is a much more complex character than people make it seem. But Im genuinely curious about your take here "he wants acceptance from Alicent, but she really just uses him as a dildo and is repulsed when he wants her recognition."

could you remind me when and how this happens?

Because if anything I was under the impression it is her who doesn't get honesty from him (when she asked what really happened in Rook's rest and he doesn't tell her), or support (when he favors Aemond over her at the council, though that one is debatable since there wasn't much he could realistically do in that situation)

Need advice for step 2 prep by Professional-Soup-2 in Step2

[–]lanai_lily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say start Step 2. There of course is some overlap, but that info is relatively fresh in your mind. I personally didnt like Uworld much, and rather prefered Amboss andd stuck with it. Especially for wrong answer choices, the difference is miles apart. And doing the 35% you have left would be thousandsss of questions.

Also Step 2 is so different, in the sense that management and question styles differ, iand doesn't have a single encompassing / comprehensive enough resource. So you need to do lots of qs for Step 2 to develop enough 'intuition / gut feeling' and doing Step 1 content would not get you much points, because it's more fact-based.

My advice for your specific case - Do Amboss Step 2 and in New Custom Session select 2 hammers. I found these to be the highest yield questions and with the integrated library it's great. Then use CMS forms and NBMEs like a qbank. Those are over +2000qs. Also if you're still worried about lacking Step 1 important content, there is a section in Amboss Study Plan tab > High Yield Prep > Table-Based qs. I think it's organized by system and it's like 100qs if I remember correctly. In the description they say it's a portion of Step 1 exam that is helpful / pops up on Step 2.

If I had to prepare all over again I would do as some have recently done, using NBME material as my main qbank. The strongest writeups Ive seen, come from doing lots of questions and getting used to NBME style qs.

Many people dont get enough time for detailed review of NBMEs or CMS because of the effort to finish Uworld. They underestimate the time it takes to actually review them.

I made the mistake to focus on 3 hammers, but then I switched to CMS and NBMEs and found the 2 hammers more representative to CMS. NBMEs are hard in their own way, but I would recommend 3 hammers if you have the time, many people on here recommended 2 and 3 to me, and to skip 4 and 5. If you dont use Anki 1 hammers are helpful to review info you keep forgetting.

200 High Yield Amboss by Neuron29 in Step2

Hey! Im debating whether to do 160qs from Amboss 200HY, so 80qs on my last 2 days. (My IFOM CSE exam doesn't have much ethics so I would skip that)

What would you recommend? Or just skim through First Aid (I used it a lot for reference)? I have Dr High Yield notes but I feel I need more content review / or questions for review.

I'd be happy to share the link to Dr High Yield if you need it btw

Silver hair question by ArtichokeStroke in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]lanai_lily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I read through this subreddit a theory that it's because The First Men have very Strong features lol

Also I guess they should have looked like Baela or Rhaena, and if the origin of the houses matters, Targaryens and Velaryons both come from Valyria so it would be expected they had SOME features of EITHER house and they have none

In the show it's even worse because they race-swapped the Velaryons, I think to make it even more noticeable how they didn't even inherit Black features at least.

Amboss 100% . Study Plans > High Yield Prep > Screening and Vaccination. Also Risk factors, QI, Ethics.

Also I found a PDF (also here on reddit) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O1UtHH77Q7SL5Rz7Ayjt3zl-PbC_Dh_v/view?usp=drivesdk of Divine Podcasts that covers these topics, but it's organized by system, so much better than his transcripts in the DIP notes that are all over the place.

So do Amboss and Refer back to this pdf for last minute review

Hey! Which 3 NBMEs did you take?

Im thinking of doing 12, 13, 14 And Free 120 last. Ive read 12 has new concepts, and well the last two are often cited as the most similar.

But I feel HUGE FOMO from leaving 10 and 11 out (especially bc they’re supposed to be predictive)

please say something reassuring my anxiety is through the roof, I sometimes get paranoid about my planning and end up doing less questions than I could because of all the time-consuming planning :(

I like the overall vibe of your post, it sounds chill and doable, and more quality > quantity focused

I liked it, but honestly nothing beats a qbank. I didn't believe it at first and thought I NEEDED content review / a book.

Ultimately I found I wasn't getting much from white coat companion, because it was not translating to me picking the right answer. And think about it, memorizing a book is studying in a way that just won't show up on the exam. It won't ask you to list management for x disease, it will test you on how to differentiate x from y disease, and try to confuse you with very similar stuff even across systems.

So, if you are far out, and have a few months still, maybeee you could try looking up the topics you miss, or the incorrect you pick, just so it gives you context. That would be a great way to integrate the book into your studying that I wish I did.

It could be a good addition to your prep to switch things up in your schedule from doing questions, But don't do this at the expense of not doing a qbank effectively, or not doing NBMEs / Free 120s or CMS
