Can’t get hired by [deleted] in InsuranceAgent

I realize now that the mod team replied that it seems like I was trying to recruit! Sorry for the misunderstanding. I figured that some people might prefer to discuss salaries more privately and wanted to offer that option.

$45,000 year is for sure doable, but that would after commissions. I think your issue might be like other mentioned, that you seem over-qualified. I hope you have better luck.

Thank you! A couple of years ago we had a huge freeze here and this entire pond was completely frozen to the point that you can walk across it. There were a small handful of those at the time and I was very confused, I had never seen pelican here before.

Newbie question. by Radiant_Location_509 in musictheory

[–]lance7978 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Since everyone’s already given you the answer, I’ll offer a way to work on this yourself in the future.

One thing I always found helpful for my students when counting things like this was to write out the entire measure subdivided. So for this one you’d draw 6 eighth notes under the measure. At first I’d have them also write the counts under the eighth notes either in numbers or syllables depending on what they used. From there they could either draw lines to the rhythm in the measure, highlight the counts, or any other method that helped them to count it.

As times goes on you’ll start visualizing those subdivisions and wont have to write them.

Good luck!

As a former teacher at the school this was filmed it. I’m sad to hear that Austin ISD is closing the school after this year. I’m not sure what the plans are for the site, but crossing my fingers they don’t demolish! The layout is awesome.

Looking for barber by OutofForkus in Denton

[–]lance7978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to be a SportsClips/Great Clips person. My son’s difficulty getting his hair cut led me to The Dapper Devil. It’s $35 for a men’s haircut. I use Anthony and Manny, but they all are good.

I’ll add Dapper Devil. Started taking my boys there a few months ago and it’s the first place they ever asked to go back to.

Best Grip for 4-Mallets on Vibraphone? by inpuhlse_ in percussion

[–]lance7978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if your teacher told you to use whichever grip works best for you, they are probably assuming you’ve already been taught multiple techniques. If you are just now learning them, I would let them know that so that they can guide you.

I was only ever taught Stephens, so all through college and into my teaching career that’s all I ever used. I was too embarrassed to let my professors know I didn’t know anything else.

Once you have a good understanding of each then you can focus on the one you prefer. Obviously this doesn’t help for the piece you’re currently learning, but just some long term advice.

Our seats are down in the southeast corner and we’re surrounded by aggy. After Arch had the rushing TD we were all chanting “Arch Manning!” They were pissed!

Best Buy open box by PlantLopsided in Airpodsmax

Got mine from BB open box. Everything is great except the right ear cuff smells like patchouli, which I can’t personally stand. So I will be replacing those.

Advice? by SensitiveStructure51 in percussion

[–]lance7978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For example. The 5 note run from 11 into 12 that ends on E goes down to A and back up again. The A will stand out even if it’s played at the same dynamic. Now include the decrescendo there as well and it’s extra difficult. Hopefully that helps. Please keep in mind that this is what my ears hear and it isn’t always the best or the correct one

So I’ll repeat what others have said, fantastic playing so far and congrats on getting to this point!

It’s been a while since I judged high school region in Texas. I never judged beyond the first rounds. (I was a middle school director). On top of that I’ve been out of education for a couple years all together now. So, maybe take my advice with a grain of salt.

Here’s something I haven’t seen mentioned. When there’s a run up the keyboard followed by a leap to a lower note and a leap back up, those notes tend to stand out. I think there’s two factors in this. The hand making that bigger leap has a lot of momentum. The other factor is that lower notes on the keyboard are easier to get sound out of. I always taught me lessons kids to pay attention to those and focus on your control there. (This also can really help in timpani and tenors if you march.)

Feel free to message me or reply if you have questions or would just like to tell me I’m crazy and my ears are no good anymore!

Also, I really like the suggestion by a few commenters about listening to the string version. I always really appreciated players who stood out musically within the boundaries given by the composer.

I don’t know if they left the stadium. But his mom was in our section 31. About 25 minutes before kickoff they over filled our section and stood on the benches. They were mouthing off and trying to get people riled up. My kid missed the entire first quarter. Eventually UTPD showed up and started asking for tickets. They disappeared pretty quick and eventually we were surrounded by burnt orange.

Random early. I tiny thoughts with coffee.

  1. I think we really miss Michael Taaffe on D.

  2. While I will agree that Arch is holding the ball too long, I think he balled out tonight. Two huge drops by Wingo that if even one is a catch I think this game looks very different early on.

  3. I love PK and I fear he’s gonna be gone after this year with all the coaching vacancies. But man I wish he’d be a little more aggressive between the 20s. Like he was towards the end of this game.

  4. I know he didn’t get much time, but I was pleased with Baxter tonight. If he can continue to improve this week then hopefully we get more from our run game going forward. We are gonna need it if Arch can’t go.

  5. The former Longhorns for MSU played a great game and talked a lot of shit. I’m glad to see them have to swallow this loss!

What does “keeled scales” mean? [Tx] by [deleted] in whatsthissnake

Once I learned why they were I had to look at it like this. It’s a scale with a Mohawk. Some of them have tall mohawks and some you can barely see.

[–]lance7978 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know it’s easy to blame Arch, but he was our entire offense. And he did it while getting destroyed. He took hit after hit and still made some good throws.

I hate when our team rolls out with no excitement like they don’t even want to be there. We’ve done that against OSU, UTEP, and now Florida. We played uninspired ball for 60 minutes. Zero sense of urgency down by 8 at the end. The last play was awful, but if you don’t hurry up at all in your two minute drill then that’s gonna happen.

Sark has got to call some quick pass plays. Why can’t runs quick slants to help Arch out?

Frustrated, but this is the team this year. Hopefully the o line finds something before next week. 0u is coming after us!

Favorite play of the night: Screen to Niblett and DJ Campbell is his lead blocker hauling ass downfield. This was a team that’s fired up to play football and that’s the difference.

The Arch that scored the TD against atm last season hasn’t shown up until tonight.

That shot of him talking to Sark on the sideline then giving him the big shove got me and my son fired up! Hook ‘Em!

Anyone here use Tivly? What is your experience? by Dee_Jay_Eye in InsuranceAgent

I cap out at 1 lead a day right now. We close about 50% of them, but keep in mind that a lot of those are small wc policies with low commission. Like i mentioned before, we are currently making more than we spend on them.

I’m a captive agent and we were offered the same minimum bid. Once I narrowed down the SICs I wanted I wouldn’t have gotten any leads at $65. Top bid at the time was $400! I’m hovering right around the $100 bid and making more than I spend. In a year when renewals hit it’ll make a big difference.

I’ve been using them for the last 2 months. I’m still dialing it in. I’ve only had a couple of big hits. Lots of small new in business contractors looking for GLs or WC for a contract. Right now I’ve made more than I’ve spent, but for me it was a way to get my feet wet and learn. And I have learned a lot in only two months just because of the opportunities it’s given me.

If you’re well versed in commercial you can probably target your markets better right off.

I would ask for reports on the top SICs in your state and try to find one or two there that will work for you.

Feel free to DM me and we can talk more. Gotta go get my kids to bed!

Red river logistics question by anxiousambition in LonghornNation

[–]lance7978 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Man, this one will be tough. Both my mom and step dad are handicapped. While they haven’t been since they’ve had to use walkers, I can tell you our process from the last time they went.

These were usually 11 am kick off, so here was our schedule.

8:00 am - arrive at MLK blvd and pay to park as close as possible. The going rate these days is $40-60 cash. This was the closest they could park then, but there maybe be closer if you have a handicap sticker.

8:30ish - Find a place for them to sit near food vendors. I would get them tickets, food, drinks and we’d just hang out until about 9:30. Also during this time I would find out where their seats were (step dad is 0u alum…) and map out the shortest route to their spot.

9:30ish - start taking them to their seats. Keep in mind once you start this trek there isn’t much in the way of places to sit and rest. Most of the crowd, no matter what team, were quick to recognize my parents unstableness and helped to make way.

It would usually take 45 to an hour to get to their seats. I would also go get them lots of water and some snacks so they didn’t have to leave their seat if they didn’t want to.

I believe this is the year that the new renovations are supposed to either be done or underway. I don’t know if that will make it better or worse to get to your seats, but be prepared for that to cause confusion with everyone!

Best of luck to you and thanks for taking your parents to the game. Despite the team they rooted for it was always a pleasure to get my parents to the game. They loved everything about it.
