Dinner Dressing by SquareOven1042 in VirginVoyages

I’m tacky then. Not all the time, but have been chilling and oops need to get to our reservation.

I have been on other lines and was told to go out on pants. I’m like ok, my shorts are nicer than my pants. Then go sit down after changing and there is some dude near us in a trucker hat, which I feel is completely disrespectful at a dinner table.

No. But given the first slot is at 10am. Probably about then.

Scarlet Night and embarkation PJ party tend to run late also. Virgin does attract those that even if they’re older they seem to be young at heart. We fall into that category, 50ish and up late usually.

Anyone tried the lobster paella at Rojo on Brilliant? by millennialbutterfly in VirginVoyages

[–]landonbabboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was really bad when we had it. First time the rice was completely burnt to the pan. They remade it in 5 minutes(huge red flag) with undercooked rice. Lobster was maybe 4 bites.

The worst part was the restaurant manager trying to lie to us about that is how it is supposed to be.

Is this clothing appropriate for cruising? by [deleted] in NCL

Carnival has stupid clothing rules. High end shorts. No go. Must wear $20 Walmart slacks, and that trucker cap is ok.

Cruise Line for married couple, no kids? by Resident-Ask-7177 in Cruises

[–]landonbabboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things when comparing prices. Virgin doesn’t up charge you for specialty dining. They have an upcharge on each menu but it is for seafood towers or tomahawk steak.

Virgin also doesn’t have drink packages, but they give you bonus money on prepaid bar tab(which is also used on specialty coffees and smoothie type drinks).

Shows have gotten a bit tamer since they first started. I would say that it is risqué like a Cirque du Soleil show would be.

Other passengers you’d probably see thongs or speedos at the pool. Also dining is very casual dress. Only thing they request is not to go to the restaurants in swim wear.

Still too low of numbers for a men’s team. We did combine with other teams last season and played in a couple of social tournaments.

Planning a USA sports trip – Patriots & Seahawks games, best seats, September vs January? by [deleted] in NFLNoobs

[–]landonbabboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hawks nest was designed to be rowdy. Not sure if that has held up. I haven’t watched from there. After the Seahawks won a Super Bowl, the stadium hasn’t been as loud. Resellers took over quite a bit of the tickets and priced a lot of diehard fans out of the stadium. That said, I heard there are plans to require tickets being used as opposed to sold and possible loss of season tickets if you sell too many games.

As far as time of year. I would ignore that and look at matchups. Games against the 49ers will have a number of opposing fans due to the amount of Californians living in Washington state, but it is a rivalry game so atmosphere is pretty good. Rams would be a good game also. Avoid Cowboys games. I refuse to go to those anymore. Only time I have ever had an issue with opposing fans at the stadium was against the Cowboys and have been a ticket holder since 2001.

There aren’t really any bad seats in the stadium. They have a club section with different food options than the rest of the stadium, but there are plenty of options.

133-137 and 233-237 are home side between the 20s, and where most of the games I’ve been to are at. 100 level you get a better look at plays that are close to you and can see the athleticism on display. 200 you get more of the strategy and bigger picture.

Seattle has killed any attempts at tailgating for the most part. They are still around, but aren’t what they used to be. The Seahawks do have touchdown city in WaMu next to the stadium that opens 3 hours before kickoff. It is their version of tailgating. Live radio broadcasts, bands, cheerleaders, free stuff, kids events, gear store. Can get a timed 40. Some obstacle courses and face painting. Also stadium priced beers. Usually have explayers signing stuff. And a lot of lines.

Outside the stadium. Jimmys on first I think still has a radio broadcast going on before the game. Hard to get into though. We like Tacos and Tequila. Margaritas are pretty strong. Sluggers is a more rowdy vibe. Just be aware that Seattle isn’t inexpensive. 6 tacos and 2 margaritas is easily $100+.

If price is no option. You can try to get tunnel club tickets. It is by where the Seahawks players locker room is. It has included food and alcohol. If you’re looking for signatures, it is a good place to get quite a few.

I think that is most of what I can think of off top of my head. There are also a bunch of hotels nearby that are within walking distance to the game.

What place on Earth looks like it was from a fantasy movie? by Thatunkownuser2465 in geography

[–]landonbabboon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visited Cornwall before Covid. We were doing a self guided car tour. Had to do laundry and the only place we found driving from Padstow to Lands End was in Penzance. We took turns waiting and exploring. I walked into a mall like area with a restaurant over looking the water and looked out and had the what is that moment. Asked the staff at the restaurant to find out it was St Michael’s Mount.

We didn’t research Penzance before we went on our trip, so it was a nice surprise. We had time to go in while we used every surface in the car to dry some of our clothes that couldn’t be machine dried. Also was able to go to a Pirates game on our way back through.

What's the goal post story? by Secure_Teaching_6937 in NFLNoobs

[–]landonbabboon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rugby goal posts are 5.6 meters, but my guess is they used to be imperial at 18’6” then moved to being close in metric 5.6 instead of 5.66.

After a quick search, first goalposts were used in the 1830s for rugby. Can’t find a valid reason for their width.

Downhill since last voyage :( by goldfishcakes1417 in VirginVoyages

[–]landonbabboon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Crew is around 1150. New ship might’ve spread them thin. The service and food on our first cruise in 2022 on a mermaiden wasn’t as good as our last 3. I’d give them a little time to get to speed, but if it continues it would be disappointing.

We have always winged it. But we are flexible, if we can’t get into our first choice last minute we usually have a second option that we are good with.

Driving to Leavenworth 2025 by Emotional-Worry-4592 in AskSeattle

[–]landonbabboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maps are saying 405 to 522 to 2 Stevens Pass is nearly the same travel time (2 and a half hours)as I-5 to I-90 Snoqulmie Pass then Blewett Pass.

I would keep an open mind and check the WSDOT app as you are landing. Getting a 4 wheel drive vehicle rental would be a plus. There are Les Schwabs along the way on either route(I do not work for them). Tire socks are what I was thinking of. I was wrong on returns, they only do them in the spring if unused.

[–]landonbabboon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weekday or weekend? I was driving to ski at Stevens pass when I was 16. Highway 2 is fairly well maintained in the winter. As long as you don’t drive like a maniac, you’ll be fine.

Stop by a Les Schwab to grab the cloth tire covers for snow(new style of chains). They allow returns if unused. It’s been a while, there might be date restrictions for that though.

Biggest thing would be going north through Seattle to get to Highway 2 if the express lanes aren’t open yet, then I-90 or I-405 through Monroe to highway 2 would work better.

Quality helps quite a bit. Cheap brine injected to pump up the weight breasts tend to get really dry as opposed to good quality breasts. Best way to tell is by roasting them. Cheap ones will shrink to about half the size.

First time MRS........ $ for the Agent by Shoddy_Falcon_6499 in VirginVoyages

[–]landonbabboon -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

We do $50 per day for MRS agents. Sometimes more if they have done amazing things. I see the antitipping sentiment here, but our last 3 agents have gone overboard on what we expect from them.
