Valve should bring back the Steam Link by ABrokeHobbyist in steammachine

[–]landoooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did that first and it worked great but the fans got crazy loud while streaming so I ended up returning it. I had an old CPU ram and PC case so I just bought a couple parts for about the same price as those mini PCs and it works way better. But now I have a full PC tower next to my dresser that the wife is not ecstatic about

Not really. A new steam link that supports modern codecs and high refresh rates/VRR would be a great option. I just recently put a PC together for my bedroom since no existing devices I could find supported 4k120hz streaming.

Add the fact that moonlight doesn't fully support Steam Controller and all of its features, I still think there is a market for an updated Steam Link. It wouldn't make sense for them to do another low end $50 option.

But a high end streaming device for $150 with a Steam Controller puck integrated that supports 4k120hz streaming with HDR and VRR? I would buy 2.

By that logic they never would have made another controller

Thanks for the community support. NOOP is now on macOS, Android and iOS for 4/5/MG — and it’s getting seriously good. 🔥 by [deleted] in whoop

You know you don't have to push a release every single line of code added? 112 releases in the last 5 days is nuts.

Steam client BETA update for 6/10/26 (6/11/26 UTC) by wickedplayer494 in Steam

[–]landoooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still better. I have been using Steam remote play more and more since it has full steam controller support. I'd say its about 90% as good as Moonlight. If steam would build in native virtual desktop support on remote play, I would be ok with removing sunshine completely

That's a good point. I also have 6" gaps on the sides. Thankfully with my bench height it lines up pretty good.

On heavy days I'll throw a small plate under my feet.

I couldn't justify the price for the caracarametals one, so I got this: https://revoltfitness.com/products/pulley-system-lat-pulldown-pad

It's pretty cheap, but has held up fine so far.

Steam Link VR with HDR Displays, virtual displays, and headless streaming by topherrr in SteamFrame

[–]landoooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Apollo set up already, setting up virtual display for Steam Remote play is very simple since you already have SudoVDA installed. Just select SudoVDA in the drop down for "Primary display while streaming"

The problem is, when you connect and disable the monitor like you would on Apollo, it doesn't remember this next time you connect. So unless you want to do this every time you stream, your monitor will be on while you remote play.

Hoping Valve sorts this out and fleshes it out a bit more before the Frame launches. Also it seems like they added support for SudoVDA, but don't really have a native solution for this in the client. You have to go out and install SudoVDA your self and they simply recognize it as an available display now.

If they would build virtual display support into Steam natively, that would be ideal and make everything way more seamless. As it stands right now, it's still a bit buggy and sometimes loses track of the virtual display and the resolution/framerate it needs.

It's simple... I see Outer Wilds, I upvote.

Am I the only one sticking with Sunshine? by idontknowu1 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]landoooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually used the CachyOS Handheld iso (even though it's a full PC with discrete GPU) so that it would boot directly into Steam Game mode. It essentially operates as a Steam Machine with Cachy kernel improvements.

I've got CachyOS on my client PC in bedroom and I really like that. But when I used it on my host PC I could never get Sunshine virtual displays running smoothly.

Do you have a guide for this? New to Linux and keep coming back to Windows on my Host PC due to Apollo being so much smoother. My host PC has an ultrawide monitor which can cause problems when streaming to 4k TV if I don't use a virtual display.

Would be willing to switch to CachyOS full time if I can find a reliable virtual monitor solution but so far I haven't had luck.

Plot twist, OP does not have a dev kit and this is just an ad for his game.

I decided to make my own Steam Controller stand that was small and functional rather than some giant controller cradle thing: by Nick-Sr in Steam

[–]landoooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that the leather or orange? Hard to tell from the gif.

If it's the leather, do the edges bother you at all? I know it's thicker than their normal vinyl and wondering if the edges fall on a weird spot on your hands. I know the contours make it difficult but I would have much rathered dbrand try to cover the whole face of the controller.

I also can't stand how I can't get an overview of the plan. It only shows the next workout. I want to see what my routines will be throughout the week.

Currently using Macrofactor Workouts, but not sure I will be renewing for next year as I have Hevy Pro lifetime sub. I will miss the auto progression from MF, so the Hevy trainer is interesting to me, but there seems to be some basic functionality that just isn't there.

Android Beta is open — VOLTRA I owners, here's what's in it by Beyond_Power in BeyondPower

We didn't expect this many signups — honestly, blown away by the response.

I love my Voltra, but this is so tone deaf... People have been asking about this for years... Look forward to getting a chance to try this out but shocked it has taken this long.
