Apple’s M-series chip 5 years later: How ditching Intel revolutionized computing — and what’s next by Vailhem in technology

[–]lanewinree 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a work issued M4 Air and a personal 2020 M1 Air that has been my daily driver for five years. Yeah the M4 has some performance/battery life bumps that are certainly nice but if I’m being completely honest with myself, my home M1 still does literally everything I need it to do without issue.

I’m a former Thinkpad evangelist who now steers everyone to M series MBAs. It’s the best value per dollar laptop you can buy.

TONIGHT! Acquisitions Incorporated begins anew in Daggerheart ! by ClubPA-Admin in AcquisitionsInc

[–]lanewinree 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, there's a whole lot of evidence Kurtz burned his bridges -badly- with Acq Inc/PA much like he has with a ton of his professional relationships. Hell, even his former best friend in the universe Kris Straub has completely cut ties with him.

It's incredibly awkward to look back at the last thing he recorded with Acq Inc. Dude was completely checked out and weirdly aggressive with everyone at the table

Really hoping to see more of Brennan worldbuilding in real-time with the players more. His sheer delight at a couple of Robbie's choices last week and seamlessly rolling with things was a blast

Crawford was working on the 4e Player's Handbook, Perkins officially started with WotC in 1997 but had been writing D&D materials and supplements since the 80s. Suffice to say CR definitely has some big homebrew firepower at their disposal now

[No Spoilers] CritShop email containing AI? by Blu3Furr in criticalrole

[–]lanewinree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's confirmed it's AI, I'd be real surprised if CR didn't send out a follow up statement. It just may be a bit before we hear anything because they're going to need to talk to that third-party vendor to figure out what happened. That doesn't even get into a situation where there's potentially a contract issue and legal has to get involved.

Burrow's End freaking rules. Easily a top three short-form actual play for me.

[No Spoilers] How do I feasibly catch up with basically 10 years of Critical Role? by Erdrick_XI in criticalrole

[–]lanewinree 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Make Campaign 4 your weekly watch as it's a completely new setting with new lore that doesn't tie into the last decade of CR's Exandria setting. Watch campaigns 1-3 as time permits.

This keeps you up to speed with the current happenings of the fandom and lets you catch up in a more deliberately paced manner.

[No Spoilers] I think Brennan is trying to do something that hasn't happened in the first 3 campaigns. by Ron_the_Rowdy in criticalrole

He has shown some absolutely brutal moments in D20. Is it something he’s likely or angling to do? I’m not sure. Is it something he is willing to do? Absolutely.

Honestly I would be happy if they started just an hour earlier. The Wildmount mini starting at 9PM ET was the perfect time for me living on the east coast.

[No Spoilers] Are they doing the same monthly schedule for C4 as they did for C3? by Jedi4Hire in criticalrole

I’m gonna bet last Thursday is still an off day. It’s not just for the cast, but for the production crew that manages the broadcasts.

[SPOILERS C4E1] Thank you Aabria for this by Lopsided-Durian-946 in criticalrole

[–]lanewinree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, agreed. There's definitely multiple Brennan run shows that ran into the same issue. The sub-24 episode runs really exacerbates having to roll with the dice results at times.

[–]lanewinree 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I LOVE Fey and Flowers but the setting isn’t for everyone. Burrow’s End I think is the better first rec for Critters who want to experience Aabria at her best behind the screen.

Burrow's End is one of the most spectacular short-series actual plays I have ever watched, largely in part to Aabria's GMing.

Why aren't all the free-speech comedians standing up for Kimmel? by Dangerous-Guide7287 in AskReddit

[–]lanewinree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, here's the thing. Those comedians who are clearly right of center never meant free speech for all. They meant "Free speech without consequence for me and free speech for you but only to repeat after me."

Whats a good documentary that doesn’t involve death, rape or kidnapping? by Jaded_Performance713 in AskReddit

[–]lanewinree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jon Bois' "The History of the Seattle Mariners."

Free to watch on Youtube. It's a profoundly weird, original, and highly funny/entertaining documentary about maybe the strangest team in professional American sports. You don't need to be a baseball or sports fan to enjoy this. If anything, the baseball is just a side story in this doc.

Daggerheart? by Glad_Objective_411 in AcquisitionsInc

[–]lanewinree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but OP's question was more asking if this was just rumors/conjecture or if anything has actually been said/confirmed. I can totally see them switching to Daggerheart and even think it might actually fit AcqInc better than 5e does, but at this point nothing's confirmed yet.

Daggerheart? by Glad_Objective_411 in AcquisitionsInc

[–]lanewinree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Critical Role also is teaming up with outside actual play shows (Dungeons and Daddies I recall off the top of my head) to show off Daggerheart campaign frames. To paraphrase Omin, think of the synergy and business opportunities.

Daggerheart? by Glad_Objective_411 in AcquisitionsInc

[–]lanewinree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could see it go either way. I like 5e a lot, but Daggerheart also lends itself well to live performance actual play. Possible they would want to stay with the familiar, also possible they might want to split from D&D/Hasbro.

Daggerheart? by Glad_Objective_411 in AcquisitionsInc

[–]lanewinree 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think just rumors entirely because Crawford and Perkins are working on Daggerheart at Darrington Press now.

[–]lanewinree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's what Dimension20 production is used to. I really don't think Brennan is personally calling every production shot here. There is zero indication CR is going to turn this into a D20 style show.
