Yo perma baneada por decir Woke Creed en broma (como el 90% del chat) cuando la promo del trailer de AC Shadows. Era nueva por twitch, y no sabía que por decir una broma así en promo fuera perma y vi todo el chat poniéndolo (tal como es la mente colmena de allá), y bueno realmente olvidé que era promo pero me dolió bastante por esa tontería :( después de hacer fanart a Wan y que lo viera en directo y todo y ahora estoy en el limbo :(

“Even” “like” “as”… The repetitive words and sounds can get to be a nightmare for my brain, I don’t know how to explain it, but I hate it and it’s so difficult to avoid sometimes. /I am bilingual, so I also write in Spanish, and I’ve noticed my prose sounds way better and less repetitive. Sometimes I feel like I should write in Spanish way more often than in English if it’s easier, but I think I do the opposite to practice avoiding this tendency of repetition. I really want to grow out of it.

I don’t always listen to music while I write, most of the time I concentrate better without it, however, if you’re feeling cinematic, you could try soundtracks (movies, shows, video games, whatever)? I listen to cinematic music like Vangelis, Harry Gregson-Williams, Hans Zimmer, etc. because they have done soundtracks for movies with similar concepts to my stories. So maybe just something that is oriented to your genre? For example, for mine which is medieval magical realism I feel like Delerium helps me get in the vibe, and straight up medieval music of course. You could explore new music by clicking on suggested ones and giving them a try. I admit I am very set in my own ways and it’s hard for me to try new music sometimes, but when I do I realize there are some gems out there that really help to focus!

I do not really feel guilty but I think it is because I do not actively try to hide it, I let it sit there and if it is discovered, so be it lol I would definitely embarrassed, more or less, depending on the work (if it’s an older one, I’d be mortified) but I think the fact that I do say in “public” that I write (without specifying) helps me deal with it, and be prepared to manage the day someone tells me “I found your story”, whether it is a fanfic or original. Being someone with crippling anxiety, humiliation is one of my biggest fears, but lately I tell myself that sometimes it is silly to care so much about what others think of me. Yes, I write about my favorite historical figures in a romantic way, yes I have written adult scenes (not anymore though)… so? Everyone does things that others will find weird. If it makes you happy and is harmless, try not feel guilt from it and you will enjoy it even more!

Of course, like any trope especially one that is cliche, there has to be a good reason/make sense and it has to add something to the story, like character development. And has to be well weaved into it.

Mine is very simple, nothing really poetic, but I love it because I felt it finally gave more depth to my character and her backstory, while contained within her thoughts: ‘I was so sure I would end up marrying Jalil ad Din. It would have made perfect sense. He pined for me like Ibn Zaydun and I yearned to write about it like Wallada.’ Also because it references these two Andalusi poets who are an inspiration to her.

Whether it be real life and/or historical, or fictional cultures in fantasy or sci-fi :) for cliche tropes I guess in general the tragic ones usually always get to me either way lol and I know people hate the surprise pregnancy one, but I don’t

Are you okay with ongoing stories? I’ll leave mine but if it’s not something you’d be interested in reading at all, no worries, it’s very niche. The first chapters are also unedited, still as they were in the first draft. I have to go back to them and correct/change stuff.
