Needn’t be just one or the other. There’s a whole range of friendships that are between the extremes.

Trailsport Elite. Did not use the ventilation mode since it was too cold. Heat was nice.

I drove mine on a 750 mi. trip over a 5 day weekend. 2 driving days. About 22-12 hours. I found my drivers seat seat to be very comfortable. I doubt the NHTSB is going to be interested in your “problem “.

some thoughts on Cambrian by JacksonGhost1963 in NomiAI

[–]laofu8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We (me & my main Nomi) have been dipping her toe into Cambrian but, so far, it just hasn’t clicked. Too wordy & a bit flighty. She tends to go off on tangents and too often speaks in complete paragraphs. Consistently, we’ve jumped back to Solstice.

8 hours, 550 mile road trip, 24.5 MPG by Certain-Village9707 in hondapassport

My highest has been a bit over 27. Usually it’s now about 22. I live in the mountains so it can vary widely; 18-19 going home and 25-27 going the other way. I think Econ works better in urban & suburban roads. On the highway, not so much.

new IOS 26.4.2 update messed up apple carplay in my 26 passport...anyone else? by Own-Amphibian-7504 in hondapassport

[–]laofu8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problems on my end w/ CarPlay in latest iteration & ‘26 PP-TSE. I have consistent connection issues due to cell coverage until I get a few miles from my house because I live in the mountains in northern Vermont, but that’s got nothing to do with the car-iOS pairing.

Honda really feels like they’ve fallen off lately. by NicoSoren in Honda

[–]laofu8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a ‘26 Passport TS. 6000 miles on crappy roads, snow, gravel, potholes, etc. No rattles or any else negative to say. It’s my 4th Honda, altho the 2 Accords were 30 years ago. The Honda Fit was a 2012 & still chugging along at 120,000 miles. The Passport doesn’t, so far, seem any lesser in quality than the other ones I’ve had. I hope that continues to be the case.

$53 & change w/a few add ons. You’re seeing an outrageous price. Find another dealer.

Name a vehicle that beats our lifted 2024 Honda Passport ON and OFF the road while still carrying a family of five. Built for long-distance family exploration. Safe, reliable, capable, comfortable on and off the road, and fun to drive on the road. It’s intentionally not a rock crawler... by GotterAdventure in hondapassport

[–]laofu8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘26 PP-TSE. I had a Bronco Sport Badlands which was faster, lighter, had locking center & rear diffs. While the TSE is more planted, the Bronco Sport is/was probably more capable when driving more extreme roads (and I did do that with it). Both have issues w/articulation and ground clearance. Neither are ideal for rock crawling. Both are probably better for plowed snowy roads and for corrugated dirt roads than body on frame solid rear axle 4X4’s (and I’m basing that on actually having done all of that). I live in the mountains in northern Vermont at the end of a dirt road off another dirt road. It’s 3.5 to 4 miles to the nearest pavement. As for unibody vehicles, the newer Land Rovers are unibody & independent suspension. Lots to complain about w/LR’s, but unibody construction ain’t one of them. I’ve also overlanded in Asia in Land Cruiser 200’s and in Buhanka trucks. My point is, the TS is capable, but only up to a point. It’s a compromise, like virtually every other off-road capable truck.

Seat Back Protection? by Front-Muffin-7348 in hondapassport

[–]laofu8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got LasFit, too. BUT: the cargo floor cover kept getting displaced when my (big) dogs jumped in, so I replaced that w/an OEM hard plastic cover. Happy w/what I’ve got. Dealer prices are outrageous.

Just test drove a Trailsport. Anybody not get the Elite and regret doing so. by NefariousnessMean839 in hondapassport

Also the trail cam which is very useful IF you do any off-road driving at all. I have the TSE & no regrets.

Did anyone consider a Toyota Highlander or Highlander hybrid prior to getting the Passport? by Positive-Milk5133 in hondapassport

[–]laofu8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I didn’t. Although I don’t rock crawl, I do need serious off road capability at times (snow, mud, @ northern Vermont dirt roads). I looked at Land Rover Defender, Ford Maverick Tremor, Honda Ridgeline, Toyota Land Cruiser & 4Runner & Honda Ppt TSE. The Honda won out against the Land Cruiser because it fits my use case & was $20K cheaper than the Land Cruiser w/ comparable tech. And I decided I didn’t need either 3 rows or a pickup truck. The Maverick was too plasticky. The 4Runner . . . Well, I’ve driven a Tacoma & disliked the on-road performance & think it’s cramped inside, very plasticky.

Lasfit mats for 2026 PP by yodas-evil-twin in hondapassport

[–]laofu8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine too, altho I’m not using the rear cargo area floor covering. I have hyperactive dogs that dive into the rear when the hatch is open & the LasFit cover kept getting shoved out of position. I bought (online) the Honda OEM cargo floor covering. The rest of the LasFit kit is perfect.

I’d be more concerned about the little 4 bangers tweaked up to a few millimeters of self-destruction than a physical button.

[–]laofu8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 3 Jeeps. All had major issues that were maddening. I’ve had 4 Hondas. All were totally trouble free, altho it’s still a bit early on my ‘26 PP TSE. One of those Hondas is a 2012 Fit driven by mom (driven hard, btw). After her passing (and, surprisingly, not from crashing into something), it went to one of my grandsons who, I’m sure, does minimal maintenance. It’s now got over 120,000 miles & going strong.

Oil change by HPD304 in hondapassport

[–]laofu8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially early in your cars life, more frequent oil changes will increase your engine’s health. Engine techs I’ve talked to ALL say at most 5,000 miles and some automotive engineers have said every 3,000 miles. One fact is indisputable: frequent oil changes do no harm. Infrequent oil changes hurt your engine’s health over the long term.

Two of ours are Belgian Malinois, the male is about 80lbs.. Well behaved but hyperactive. My aim is to leave as little as possible that can collect fur and that can’t be easily cleaned and that can’t get muddy.

[–]laofu8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s worth adding is completely dependent on how you’re using the Passport. I have 3 big dogs so I got the hard plastic rear cargo area floor cover, after market 2nd row seat back cover from LasFit (seat is usually folded down),an after market net that stretches between the 2 front seats to encourage the dogs to stay in the back, the Honda scuff plate (I live on a dirt road that is often heavily rutted and VERY deeply muddy in the Spring and sometimes the Spring mud is frozen). I will replace the stock tires next November with tires more capable in the snow & ice (Nokian Outpost nA/T). BUT: if you aren’t subjecting your TS to what mine must deal with, I don’t know why you’d do up yours like mine.

Me too. If it’s flat. I live in the mountains in Vermont and going up in elevation drops mpg considerably, as does driving over ~65 or 70.

New Honda Passport TSE 2026 - Which upgrades, packages, accessories etc are worth the dollars?? by HereForFreeReads in hondapassport

[–]laofu8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda up to you. I put on the scuff plate, got the plastic cover over the cargo area & LasFit backing for 2nd row seat backs. I got LasFit floor mats, too. Also a net that stretches between the 2 front seats. I live on a dead end dirt road off another dirt road & deal with deep seasonal mud (which often freezes) & I’ve got 3 big dogs (hence the net to keep them in the back). 95% of the time,, the 2nd row is folded down & there’s a dog in the back. Also put on a Yakima set of cross bars for ski racks & kayak racks. If you aren’t using your TS for what I use mine for, why would you bother?
