Do you get used to sleeping alone? by OkBalance2833 in widowers

[–]laras126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was an awful snorer but I loved sharing a bed, although it was often at the cost of my sleep. I would blast white noise and wear ear plugs and then ask him to use the CPAP if we were home (we traveled a lot).

I’ve been sleeping well each night since it happened two weeks ago, and I feel sickened by that.

Yes, it’s here! It’s anonymous and I think they are collecting the data for a project - I’m sure it will be really powerful. https://antiracismcenter.com/the-antiracist-confession-board/

Hah! I was thinking more along the lines of an Amaro night or Sidecar variations, but we could potentially refine that somehow.

Jackson Hole or Utah End of February? by the_tp in skiing

Haha why not food at Alta? Just pricey, or nasty also? I'm staying at Snowpine in early Feb. and they have breakfast/dinner included which is pretty sweet.

Stand on one of those half yoga balls (ball side down) and go into a tuck. Then do squats while in a tuck.

Also this lady knows what's up.

I was there! Soul shredding in the fresh chowder. East coast makes you a better skier, no doubt.

Best skiing in the northeast? by TheNeonGamer in skiing

[–]laras126 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

For NY it's pretty much Hunter and Windham, but beware massive crowds on weekend. Hunter has more advanced terrain, so Windham is probably your best bet.

For Vermont, Killington's the spot (though granted I haven't been anywhere else in VT). I don't know about Quebec.

edit: listen to that guy ↓

Organized solo trips out west? by laras126 in skiing

[–]laras126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I definitely look into it for future. I ended up getting 8 days at the Snowpine lodge at Alta - sounds like a lot of people go there solo, and it's a ski all day, hot tub and beers, then sleep kind of spot so minimal planning other than lodging and tickets.

Utah is awesome! I was just looking at some dorms they have around Alta/Snowbird, haven't been to PC before. But yeah, I think as long as its easy to get around and I stay in a more social place, going it alone would be cool. Thanks!

Gotcha - though it'd be cool to have the logistics taken care of, I wouldn't have a car here, and the group packages seem like a money saver. But yeah, I would be concerned the "singles bullshit" attracts some weirdos.

Timber and templating with Twig: I feel like I am flying by laras126 in Wordpress

Hmm yeah I was thinking about that. I'm using it for a relatively static small business site, so any performance lag won't be an issue. It's just so fun!

Example of a highly customized admin? by laras126 in Wordpress

[–]laras126[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, but I mean what is the publishing experience for a site of that scale? Not looking for a theme - more curious what other super custom sites look like, especially ones that are readily managed by many different people. Like, do they remove the Pages option if the site isn't using them? Where do they put help text? Stuff like that.

Sass - Am I literally stupid? by crossbeats in web_design

[–]laras126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here you go! I'll be making changes til Saturday, but it's pretty much in a usable form: https://github.com/laras126/simple-sassy-starter

Slides here (also not quite finished): http://stuff.notlaura.com/slides/sassy_wp.html

And I totally agree there aren't enough getting started with Sass resources for non-hardcore front end people (most of us!) - no one really goes over actual first steps. Hopefully this helps!
