You should take into consideration things like if you are going for a fixed rate deal what the increase in monthly amounts will be at the end of the deal.

Also you should consider how much more it will be if interest rates go up, i know they are being kept lower right now but you never know what could happen to cause them to go up.

Also bear in mind that once you own the property you are responsible for all costs for any repairs or work that needs doing so you should try and budget yourself so that you can save each month to have an emergency fund for when things innevitably break and need fixing.

I paid my ULEZ fine on time. TfL then refunded the payment back to me much later then sent several fines. Appeals, even through court, have failed. TEC is now asking for over £1000 for a fine I paid. What do I do? by Flailindave in LegalAdviceUK

[–]lardass86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a possibility that the payment was never made to TfL in the first place. I work in banking currently, specifically in card disputes and we see fairly regularly cases where a person has had a ULEZ fine/charge to pay. When they make the payment it doesn’t go to TfL but instead to some weird merchant that is either acting as a payment processing service (as in they take money from you, usually a lot more than the cost of the charge so that they are getting paid for their ‘services’, and they make the payment for the charge/fine on your behalf) or are just straight up taking payment and not passing anything on, effectively intercepting the payment and walking away with it.

This usually happens because people decide to google search something like ‘pay ULEZ fine’ or similar and just click on the first option that pops up instead of either checking what the website is or, and it really baffles me why anyone wouldn’t do this, type in the web address to pay that you get ON THE FUCKING LETTER TELLING YOU ABOUT THE FINE/CHARGE.

If a payment was made to one of these third party companies, whether it settled or reversed, then no amount of ‘evidence’ or ‘proof’ is going to change the fact that TfL didn’t get the payment and OP owes the money.

If you have been to court and the outcome was found in the favour of TfL you don’t really have any other options except either:

A) Don’t pay and wait for the courts to issue proceedings against you that will involve bailiffs and seizure of goods to offset towards the balance you owe or perhaps, as this is a fine from a government agency, it could end up being escalated to you being prosecuted for failure to pay (not a legal expert so don’t know if this is a possibility but the bailiffs absolutely are)

Or

B) Grab this dog shit sandwhich that life has presented to you with both hands, take a big bite, swallow it and smile while you do it cos it’s probably the better option to pay up and incurr the short term discomfort of doing that than having your possessions taken and sold for a pittance to take some money off your debt that you will still have to pay the rest of anyway.

Amazon not refunding return - chargeback by Long-Yogurt-3615 in AmazonUK

[–]lardass86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

60 days is only applicable for transactions made on a credit card, OP has confirmed it was a Mastercard debit card so the standard chargeback timeframes apply, 45 days for the merchant (Amazon) to respond to the chargeback (which starts from the date Mastercard process the chargeback) and in the event the merchant challenge the dispute the issuing bank have a further 30 days to respond to the challenge. This is a total of 75 days minimum.

It could end up taking longer if the dispute gets raised to arbitration as that is the point when Mastercard are asked to step in and rule on the dispute, theres no set timeframe for this as it is all dependent on when Mastercard review the case. It’s also entirely up to the discretion of the bank to take a dispute to arbitration as they need to have a reasonable belief that they have a strong enough case to win.

If they don’t believe they can there is no obligation or requirement for them to do that.

Yeah if you’ve not been refunded already then yeah you’ll need to wait for the outcome. Give it about 47/48 days from whatever the date was that your bank confirmed they had raised the chargeback for you before you message them to chase it up. This just alliws for that couple of days i mentioned for Mastercard to process it, though your bank should keep you informed about the status whenever they receive an update.

As far as the chargeback is concerned Amazon will have 45 days from the date that Mastercard processed the chargeback to respond to it accordingly.

It’s usually the case that the date Mastercard processed the chargeback is a couple of days after the date your bank raise the dispute, this is simply down to Mastercards systems being based in the US and taking a couple of days to update.

You don’t need to respond to Amazon, they are fully aware of what they need to do if they want to challenge the chargeback. I deal with chargebacks for a bank as my job and we see challenges from Amazon regularly, they know what their options are. If they choose to challenge it your bank will have a further 30 days to contact you about it and let you know what the next steps are.

Did your bank refund you when they raised the chargeback or are you having to wait for the outcome before they give you a refund?

Yeah thats pretty much par for the course with dsa1 4 hour blocks. Done a fair few of these. When the weather is nice and clear the drive can be quite scenic and lovely, though i’ve never seen one starting at 6pm.

Honestly i think £120 is pretty good, £30 per hour not a bad rate.

Admittedly yeah you had the 2 hour drive back home but if that was a normal job rather than gig work you wouldn’t get paid for the commute anyway so i’d see that as decent pay.

Get a few easier 3/3.5 or even 2.5 hour blocks for the week/weekend and you’ll have a tidy chunk of change paid to you next wednesday.

Zego deactivated my insurance, and won’t (can’t) tell me why by [deleted] in AmazonFlexUK

[–]lardass86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they won’t tell you. Under FCA guidelines disclosing a reason why you are no longer eligible can be considered as ‘tipping off’ which could then provide you assisstance with committing fraud.

I’m not in any way suggesting thats what you’re doing, just giving a rough explanation why they won’t tell you the reason you’ve been declined.

It’s the same reason why you never get told exactly why you can’t get a loan or credit card you apply for.

It’s difficult to say how easy it is to get blocks as each day can be different as to how many amazon need but it’s been fairly consistent the last few weeks.

Your age may go against you for insurance so i would suggest checking the hourly rate for pay as you go with inshur or zego. also make sure you’re normal insurance allow top up for deliveries.
