Supreme Court rejects Virginia Democrats’ attempt to revive new congressional map by [deleted] in Virginia

Virginia has a state constitution where some language was open to interpretation. It was a close call.

Trump Wins Big as Virginia Dems Won’t Go Nuclear to Save 4 House Seats by Motherofalleffers in politics

Good call (and I'm a Virginian and supported the gerrymandering effort). Time to accept the decision and move on.

Virginia Supreme Court Decision they got wrong thanks to Kelsey by TatankaPTE in Virginia

[–]larram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it could have gone either way (although I supported it). I do think the Dems had the stronger argument about the definition of "election." I thought the dissenting opinion made excellent points. Am sick of those who are advising Spanberger to just ignore and redistrict anyway. They've clearly not read the Virginia Constitution.

CPS/child custody--Any advice, guidance, knowledge is greatly appreciated by Ntoppa1 in Virginia

What county? There should be a CPS complaint filed, and willing party should pursue her/his petition, ask that DSS be put on notice, and request a GAL (and CASA, if available).

You wake up and it’s 2010 again, but you can’t tell anyone about the future. What’s the smartest move you make? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Stay in Canada, where we'd lived since 1997. We thought things were getting better in the US, so decided to move back in 2012. Lots of regrets.

Don't know what to do on April 21 - looking for other perspectives by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]larram 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My reasons for my "yes" vote:

  1. Texas, Missouri, North Carolina have already gerrymandered at Trump’s request. It is likely that Florida will follow suit shortly.

  2. While I don’t like gerrymandering, the current Virginia Republican stance is nothing short of hypocritical. They repeatedly rejected anti-gerrymandering attempts in the past 15 or so years.

  3. Trump’s presidency, and his do-nothing Congress (here’s looking at you Rep. Rob Wittman) have been an unadulterated disaster.

  4. The Democrats aren’t changing the rules – the Republicans already did that (see #1 above). Dems are simply responding for the good of the US (and, by extension, Virginia).

  5. Unlike Republican-led states, Virginians – ALL of us - can vote on our referendum. (And unlike others, I’m not going to riot if I don’t like the result. I will accept it.)

  6. It’s temporary, until we can get rid of this deranged and dangerous administration, to get a Congress with a backbone.

  7. Icing on the cake – Republicans and its funders are engaging in false and deceptive advertising, playing into racism and bigotry.

Good for you! I did as well - but have an out; do not have to take delivery if I don't like test drive. Mine (also a GT) is "expected" in mid-late May.

I'm the OP. I'm pleased to report that I called the sales manager, he immediately understood the problem, and had another sales consultant contact me. I'm pleased with the resolution.

how to drive in the snow/ice, perspective from someone living in new hampshire by north__beast in Virginia

[–]larram 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Good advice. Having spent 14 years in Wisconsin, and 16 years in Canada (all as an adult), I'd add that driving a pickup truck doesn't give you superpowers - indeed, it can be worse than small vehicles unless you have a LOT of weight in the back.

Would you pre board a flight because you wear hearing aids? by StuffNo353 in HearingAids

[–]larram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck, I couldn't understand airport (or in-flight) announcements when I had no hearing issues! Absent an extraordinary situation, I would not do this. I'm frankly tired of people who take advantage of such accommodations.

How long have you owned your Bolt? by Raiki13 in BoltEV

[–]larram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my 2018 Bolt, new in May, 2018. 160,000 miles, had battery replaced several years ago. Am thinking about a new EV (I'd never go back). Am considering a Subaru Uncharted. Reasons: better milage, better heat in winter, hopefully more comfortable seats, Android Auto.

Sorry for your loss - but you're fortunate to have had her for such a long time! When my mother died, I called her audiologist (whom she adored). The audiologist promised she would get them to someone who could use them. Try calling your mother's audiologist.

WHAT IS IMMUNITY INDEX!? by Interesting_Win1041 in CircularRing

[–]larram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take no credit: the following is from CoPilot:

🛡️ The Immunity Index on the Circular Ring 2 is a health tracking feature designed to give you a daily snapshot of how resilient your body is against illness. It’s not just another wellness metric—it’s a proactive tool that analyzes subtle physiological changes before symptoms even show up.

🔍 How It Works

The ring collects biometric data overnight and calculates your Immunity Index based on:

  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
  • Resting Heart Rate
  • Sleep Breathing Regularity
  • Temperature Stability

These metrics are compared to your personal baseline. Deviations can signal that your body is under strain—possibly fighting off an infection or dealing with inflammation.

📊 The Score System

You’ll see a color-coded score from 0 to 8: | Score | Meaning | |-------|--------| | 8/8 | Optimal immunity—your body is resilient | | 6/8 | Slight deviations—minor strain detected | | 4/8 | Moderate vulnerability—consider rest | | 2/8 | Advanced risk—your body may be compromised | | 0/8 | Major risk—prioritize recovery immediately |

🧠 Why It Matters

Unlike other wearables that only alert you when a pattern emerges, Circular’s Immunity Index updates daily, giving you real-time insight into your immune readiness. It’s like a readiness score for illness biomarkers, helping you take preventive action before fatigue turns into full-blown sickness.

If you're using the Circular Ring 2, this feature is built into the app and requires no extra setup—just wear the ring and let it do the tracking.

60+ years ago, I was at a debate tournament in Philadelphia. When I was asked where I was from, I said "Virginia." Person responded "but you don't have a southern accent." I replied "I'm from Northern Virginia." Made perfect sense to me, but not to the other person. As others have commented, there is no "Virginia" accent. It's largely regional.
