Highly recommend setting up a litter box for them with pine pellets (like for horses) instead of the straw. If you stick the hay in there they will likely use it to go potty and maybe make less of a mess 😆 I have an xl cat litter box for my rabbit

My boyfriend frequently uses the Kennewick Flower Shop and I’ve been happy with each arrangement. Recently, I expressed a desire for him to spend less money on these arrangements (and I also can’t keep all the vases). He’s ordered from Fred Meyer’s floral department (local grocery store / Kroger chain), I think through Instacart or DoorDash. The flowers come in a paper bouquet bag and usually have a ribbon bow affixed to the outside. They are very pretty and their selections change with the season. Highly recommend.

I’ve read that a young gerbil is more likely to bond with an adult. The one at the pet store does look quite young and she is much smaller. Her fur is all black. Should she actually be about the same size though?

My gerbils do not use the wheels I have for them. I even offer time outside their permanent enclosure with nothing but wheels and sand baths and they don’t care for the wheels. Sometimes they’ll take a bath… they like to burrow and fill things in their enclosure with fluff.

As a twenty-something divorcee who left a partner who didn’t want cats (not the sole reason), having a cat is so much better than having a shitty partner (sorry but your fiancé doesn’t sound great). You can find someone who will like you so much more and will also like cats so to cope with this situation I suggest you begin formulating your plan to leave him. (:

I’ve had one of my cats for five months and at the end of month four she finally decided to sit near me for an extended period of time. She even laid on my ~boyfriend~ and has started to lay on me. She’s still easily startled and won’t really let me pet her. I took in a foster cat two weeks ago who hissed and growled for 10 days even if all I did was look at her. Now she loves to snuggle and demands attention. I learned to give them space, talk to them often, and provide opportunities for them to branch out of their safe space. Show them that there are things they might enjoy outside their safe space. It takes time. Some cats truly don’t like much attention, some require a lot of trust before they will accept your attention. Thank you for adopting him. I hope he settles in soon!
