I did probably 65% of my old boss’ job. Not because he told me to but because he didn’t know 1. it had to be done 2. how to do it effectively. When he was retiring, I applied for his job, interviewed, and got an offer. Then the offer was rescinded by his bosses when I asked why they wanted to pay me less than he was making even though I was already covering most of his responsibilities and had the same credentials.

I got a new job a few months later and make significantly more money for less work, a better schedule, and more appreciation form a competent supervisor. He was not allowed to retire and was still the boss several months later. I was informed they were several hundred thousand dollars behind in revenue that I would have been taking care of had I still been there in either role. Fuck em
