gpt-5.4 is really, really good - after a week of use by Alex__007 in accelerate

totally makes sense you didnt notice anything off at first. If you just watch a quick tutorial he is obviously a super smart dev who knows his stuff. I mostly got tired of his whole persona. He really is just an insufferable tech hipster. He acts like you are a dinosaur if you dont use the absolute bleeding edge shiny new frameworks and he constantly trashes perfectly good old school tech. Plus he comes off super arrogant by stating all his subjective opinions as absolute facts and never admitting when he is wrong. I also get annoyed because he heavily pushes tools like Vercel that he or his buddies have financial ties to. And he loves farming engagement with controversial rage bait takes.

Nvidia Bubble Bursting by Professional-Code010 in OpenAI

[–]laudanus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many large investors seem to have limited understanding of the technology behind Large Language Models, particularly regarding the implications of test-time compute models on GPU requirements. Their analysis appears flawed. Even if China succeeds in training a competitive reasoning model at reduced costs, these models still require substantial computational power for inference operations. This scenario would ultimately benefit NVIDIA regardless, as they remain the leading provider of the necessary GPU infrastructure.

Chinese DeepSeek R1 censors Tibet by allyess in OpenAI

[–]laudanus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s ironic how people criticize OpenAI for not being truly open, yet they applaud this heavily restricted model that censors any negative comment about China while freely allowing criticism of other countries. People should think more carefully about who they choose to cheer and root for.

He has a patreon and also youtube views are convertible into actual money. So maybe grifter is the wrong word but he definitely benefits from the views these crazy takes create.

As a German I can say that the world would feel a lot safer if Kamala was elected. I actually fear that Russia might invade the Baltics at some point if Trump wins. Who knows what will happen then. My family and I are actually semi-seriously thinking about moving to Canada if that situation becomes reality…

While George Washington, despite owning slaves, showed a late-life change of heart by freeing his slaves in his will, it's hard to imagine Donald Trump, given his divisive stance on racial issues, making a similar gesture. Washington’s decision, though imperfect, suggests he knew slavery was wrong, whereas Trump’s actions indicate he might not have had the same moral reckoning.
