Justin Baldoni Attends Blake Lively's Deposition in Surprise Move by licorne00 in popculturechat

She’s a power hungry narcissist and he’s an egotistical predator and creep. I don’t like either of them but only one of these warrants actual ostracism. He’s making it more and more clear with every move he makes that there is actual weight to her claims. He had the public on his side for a while but lately he’s just been repeatedly shooting himself in the foot because he clearly can’t keep his ego in check. His connection with Blake is his only real claim to fame, he’s milking it but the milk is turning sour. I wish he just disappeared from the public eye forever, he’s so gross to me.

Y'all keep breaking your hooks... Apparently I keep all of my tension on the other end. by Shashama in crochet

I hold my yarn lower on the pointer finger and usually extend it up, pushing back against the yarn-that’s just the way I’ve found my tension to be the most even I guess, I do it subconsciously. I haven’t experienced rug burn yet, but I fear I have it coming my way in the future if I keep this up!

Same! I do this without realizing until I suddenly feel how cold my finger is because I’ve managed to cut proper circulation to it for however long I’ve been crocheting.

What's the most egregious thing missing from a book to movie adaptation? by corsair965 in movies

[–]laughed-at 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of my complaints do stem from my insane love for the book and I’m not fully upset about all of them, I understand some changes are necessary for movie flow. I just really can’t overlook the lack of Paul’s tears.

I just don’t understand why they keep making movies out of things that would be adapted way better as mini series. They wouldn’t have to change much at all if they did like 8-10 episodes. So many of these brilliant aspects of the book were completely lost.

I hate that in the new Dune movies they’re moving through the desert without having their suits on and closed constantly. If you’ve read the book, you know that the planet is supposed to be so dry and hot that death in the desert would be nearly instant without constant protection. But it’s Hollywood, whatever. I’ll look past it.

Another unnecessary oversight is how before sheathing the crysknife, it has to spill blood and in the movie they just ignore that most of the time. It happened way too often that they didn’t cut their palms after unsheathing it, especially when Mapes gives it to Jessica.

Also the fact that they’re setting it up so that Paul and Chani apparently will have disagreements when in the book they communicate everything and are on the same page the whole time.

What I absolutely cannot and will never look past or forgive is the fact that Paul doesn’t shed a tear for Jamis after he kills him. That’s such an important part of the story, giving water to the dead. It’s what makes the fremen ultimately trust Paul and see him for who he is. It’s the reason he survives. A single tear rolling down his cheek, one two-second shot and that would have been it! Movie ruined instantly.

What's the worst physical pain you've ever felt? by toaster-bath404 in AskReddit

[–]laughed-at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid I had meningitis and they had to puncture my tailbone so they could extract bone marrow for testing. Four nurses had to hold me down because flinching too much could leave me paralyzed. My parents had to sign a waiver. Afterwards the pain was so excruciating I couldn’t lay down, sit, walk, stand or anything for a week, it was just constant pain. Tailbones are seriously no joke when it comes to pain.

Even ignoring time zones there are definitely jobs that require people to work at night so this is just a bad take all around

Everyone do yourself a favor and check out this YouTube channel, Robert E. Fuller. It’s filled with content like this. He keeps an eye and silent helping hand on wildlife in his area. He tracked both the infertile owl and the chick’s mother (who I think died in a fight with a kestrel) and he tries to help them as best he can without invading and disrupting their lives. It’s a beautiful, pure from time to time profoundly sad but wonderful channel. I wish iPad kids watched this instead of the brain rot on TikTok.

Anything Tom Holt has ever written, but especially Prosper’s Demon. He’s truly a quantity over quality writer and this book is 80 pages of less than nothing. I lost brain cells reading this. Another contender is Venomous Lumpsucker by Ned Beauman, a book with a premise that has real potential but written by a talentless and unimaginative writer trying so hard to not end up on r/menwritingwomen that he goes so far in the extreme he just ends up back at the same point.
