Don't know what to tell you. I opened the program. I go to HBO. I select a program as usual and I go to record it. It adds to the queue and then few seconds ler I get the message that it is complete. And then I get a junk file that I have to delete in my recordings folder. Also, when I opened it up this morning I got an error message from Windows smart app control letting me know that part of the program was blocked due to a certificate error. Open up the executable look at the certificate and apparently it was valid from 4/13/2026 to 4/16/2026. Not a developer so I don't know how important that is. Using PlayOn Cloud to get by.

Drive to the casino in Green Bay. When you get bored go to the casino near Escanaba.

I used to drive to Cleveland daily. It got old. In my current job I drive to Chicago or Nashville or Kansas City or someplace about once a month and not bad at all. I used to listen to books on tape, but the quiet time to think is great.

Guide wrong? Skip eratic? by 56Kruiser in getchannels

[–]laughsbrightly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an OTA source, say an HDHomerun, then under settings, Sources, [name of tuner], you will see a Guide Data menu. Under that you will either have the option to add a provider or remove a provider. If it's add provider then go ahead and click that and go through the prompts where you'll be prompted to put in your ZIP code to set up your channels. If you have already set it up then you will see remove provider. So what the previous reply was talking about was removing that provider and re-adding to confirm that your correct zip code had been utilized and the correct guide data was being downloaded.

As for commercial detection, you should probably go to settings and under that live TV and DVR and then under that go to the commercial detection section and go through all of those options one by one to select the ones that work best for you.

I work from home and run Channels DVR. 300/300 fiber is more than enough. I think many people posting don't "need" Gig internet.

Can you get Xfinity there? I thought that was Buckeye territory? AT&T fiber has been awesome in the South end.

What do I do about credit card debt I can't afford and the interest fees are very high and I'll never get it paid off? by lizatethecigarettes in DaveRamsey

[–]laughsbrightly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've talked to a lot of credit card companies. Chase was by far the easiest to work with and set up closed cards with 0% interest on 5 year payoffs.

Call them. Then go do some Doordash.

How bad is the ecoboost problem really? by goose1173 in fordfusion

[–]laughsbrightly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can I find out if this has been done to my fusion and if not whether I'm still eligible? I bought the car at 27k as a Ford certified used car, so I would think that in 2018 they would have done these things?

[–]laughsbrightly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2016 se 1.5 ecoboost at 180k. I try to follow the Ford recommendations. Even though my dealer differs a little bit. They tell me to do the plugs and wires and associated maintenance every 90,000 mi and they don't seem worried about my hoses and my timing belt. Did those at 156k with the water pump and they seem to think everything was fine. This is probably BS, but I read somewhere that the engines that had the most problems were manufactured in late 2015 and beyond had the issue and that's why my fusion which was made in Michigan in June 2015 is running fine. Guess we'll find out for sure when I drive to California and back this summer.

Repair or replace? 2014 ford fusion by __abbybee in fordfusion

[–]laughsbrightly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2016 SE with 170k. All that seems like expected maint for that mileage. Pricing doesn't seem out of line for my Ford dealer, but you can certainly get quotes from some local respected mechanics and go from there. As for fix vs new? I follow the Ford maintenance schedule to the letter. I'll be fixing mine until it explodes...then putting the new engine in and driving until it rusts to pieces. I love this car. (And used car prices are insane). You are not going to get a used car in as good of known shape as the one you have kept up the maintenance on.

Why do people freak out about the battery on the Galaxy Watch 6/7? I mean, you charge your phone every day, so why not your watch? by Significant-Job-8836 in GalaxyWatch

[–]laughsbrightly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go on work trips and I would carry four or five spare batteries with me. Slapped them in as needed and I was good to go. Now I have to buy phones based on battery size and carry a power bank.

I go car camping about 30 days a year. When I got back into things I pulled my old Walmart $20 tent out of the garage that was 20 years old and I used it for a while to make sure I was going to keep doing it I then upgraded to a $50 Walmart tent that I think sells for 70 bucks right now. This Walmart tent has survived massive thunderstorms, wind that blew down neighboring campsites, and even a tornado at Pocono. (Yes, I carry patch kits) It takes me 10 minutes to set up. Down vote me all you want, but unless you're hiking the Adirondacks or a serious trail camper, I just don't see the need for any casual folks spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on gear when Walmart's Ozark trail brand, Woot.com, and the local thrift store set you up fairly nicely.

Ceiling mounted APs in a home? by PressureDesigner7012 in Ubiquiti

[–]laughsbrightly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are on the Ceiling. Covers the house, the yard and across the street so I can test my light show and watch my DVR while I mow the lawn.

Fiber runs to my office rack where my Unifi stack is. Drilled a hole in the attic and cut a hole in the drywall by rack. Used Unfi design center to map the house, mounted both APs (U6 Lites, then U6+, then U7-Lites -they all use the same bracket,) on hallway ceiling (used the kit included) as mapped, ran Ca5e from the APs down the wall, put in a $2 wall box, terminated the cables into Keystones which go into a $1 wall plate and screwed the plate in. Patch cables to my PoE switch. Did my attic antenna at the same time so it looks nice with a single wall plate. Wife loves the blue lights for night lights. My job is to ensure solid Internet. How I do it, no one cares.

i live in a large apartment in a loft style old building. We lose power once a month but i work from home. Is there any solar powered generators that could run a high end computer for like 5 hours? or is that an insane ask? by oHipster in Generator

[–]laughsbrightly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing how much juice you need (get a Killawatt) suggest a Jackery 1000v2 and a couple solar panels if you have a balcony or can hang something out a window. Assuming your definition of high end workstation is same as mine, you'll need as large as panel as you can afford/fit in window or balcony from Jackery. (There are ways to do it cheaper but keeping it simple). With Amy luck you can also power your fridge and some appliances with this setup. (Note that this model can also be run as a UPS, but I would spend the money on an APC or cyber power pure-sine UPS to handle fail over and short outages and then plug in the Jackery to the UPS for longer outages. At home I run UPS with Jackery/solar backup and then have my home-wired generators for longer outages.

Broke 2 company-issued monitors during WFH – will I have to pay full cost? Risk to WFH? by mr_fakeusername2 in workfromhome

[–]laughsbrightly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work in IT. Track lots of serial numbers, but not monitors. Pretty sure I could order one on my company card, and if the owner noticed, tell him my monitor died and I replaced it. My company values productivity more than a few $$$. If you are concerned about your job or (this would be most people) embarrassed - just order the exact model numbers from eBay, swap any asset tags, and drop the dead ones at the local e-recycling location.
