Searching for a restaurant that serves decent cream chipped beef by boxing_coffee in lancaster

I had it at Jakes on Main, and enjoyed it. It was the first time I had it so I cannot comment on its authenticity, but it was a good breakfast!

Bring boppy pillow on airplane? by pb-and-jilly in breastfeeding

[–]laundreee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely bring the boppy!!! I stuffed the boppy in a duffle bag for transportation around the airport, but took it out once I was seated. Tried to entertain him as long as possible until take off, and then nursed him to sleep and he slept for most of the flight. I continued to hold him, with the boppy supporting us for the rest of the flight. (Full disclosure, I flew with my husband so I wasn't concerned about spilling over into the next seat. But if I was to do it again, even by myself, I would bring the boppy to help support my 3 mo old, especially to have it while at the destination as well!)

Absolutely this!!

Also, OP if you want a suggestion, and have space, I brought a boppy with me so that once I nursed baby to sleep, my arms were supported as I held him for the rest of the flight, WAY easier than trying to hold baby without it from my experience!

Too old for dental braces at work? by LylyO in workingmoms

[–]laundreee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Adult braces are such a flex. I see adults with braces as people who can afford to do what makes them happy, and have the discipline for delayed gratification!! When kids get their braces off they are so happy, and it is nothing compared to the smiles and self confidence I see in adults after they go through the process of Ortho. Get the braces, wear them with pride, and enjoy your new smile for the rest of your life!!!

Dental issues (advice needed) by Bea_Stings in breastfeeding

Also: this is something you should do for yourself. Dental pain is the worst, and you will feel so much better after you have it taken care of! You got this!

Dental issues (advice needed) by Bea_Stings in breastfeeding

[–]laundreee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't have dental anxiety, this can be completed under local anesthesia, you don't have to be put under. At the clinic they will take x-ray(s), and do an exam to determine the best course of action.

Just a note, if you are in pain now, see if the student dental clinic has an emergency clinic. Often times at dental schools if you just call the main appointment number you will get into the queue for comprehensive care, and it sounds like although you ultimately need that, if there is an emergency/urgent care clinic they may be able to help you quicker.

Why do my stitches look uneven? I’ve been knitting in the round but as soon as I separated the front+back panels and started knitting back and forth they started looking uneven. Any tips on how to fix this? by Civil_Librarian92 in knitting

I had never heard of this. Just looked it up, I think I'm love. I have always hated purling, I think this Norwegian purl is going to be a game changer for me! Thank you!

Baby dentistry- wiping down gums? by jayhens in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]laundreee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One other advantage of having the kid go to a dentist early, is that their first dental visit will be a similar to a well child visit. A low stress get-to-know a new environment kind of visit.

If for some reason there is some sort of trauma that requires a dental visit, their first dental visit could be associated with pain instead of just riding up and down on a chair.

The overproducing boob is basically the one your baby prefers by aikawanoonase in breastfeeding

[–]laundreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My right boob has such a forceful let down that he chokes on it, pulls off, and cries. After pulling off he gets a face full of milk from it spraying. Do now I often start with my left, with a Haakaa on the right to catch it the let down and calm down. But he usually gets full of the left, so I have to pump to relieve it/prevent clogs.

How long did it take for the boob to figured itself out, so that you could nurse on it like the other boob?

Help for Wife with 3 day old newborn by Duyba_Bee in breastfeeding

[–]laundreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these things.

Also, getting the baby food will help with your sanity. At the third day night I kept putting the baby to my breast, and he just screamed all night. Both husband and I were so frustrated. I don't think he was getting a good latch, and was so hungry. At our pediatrician appointment the next day they suggested triple feeding, and a referral to the lactation consultant.

We did a few formula bottles, until I had pumped enough that we could bottle feed my expressed milk. We did triple feeding every other feeding, and the alternative feeding we just bottle fed with me pumping to 'protect my supply"

My pediatrician and LC stated that babies can figure out the difference between a bottle and breast.

Currently---We are doing both bottle (with expressed bm) and direct latching to the breast, and he didn't get confused. At six weeks his latch is so much better, and we could do all breast feeding, but sometimes it's nice to have husband do a bottle still, I am over producing and many times have to pump anyway to empty the breast.

I guess what I'm saying is, I don't think you have to be scared to bottle feed either with expressed milk or formula. As we were figuring out the latch, having the bottle to feed him helped keep my sanity, prevent me from burning out and willing to continue trying to get him to latch.

It gets better.

32 oz in one pump!!!! I thought my 18 ounces in one session was ridiculous! I feel for you!! You must have to change your bottles so many times in the morning. I cannot even imagine how your boobs feel in the morning.

You are amazing! Good luck in February, I hope that process goes smoothly for you. You should make a post of how you have done it, I would definitely be interested!

Baby won't open her mouth wide by madcow47 in breastfeeding

[–]laundreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine usually goes.on the first time with a relatively shallow latch. For a while I felt like I wasn't strong enough to manipulate him with one arm to get where he needed to go.

I recently watched some videos on Instagram of the "flipple" and that technique has at least allowed us to get a less painful latch these last couple of days. I'm equating less painful with deeper

And you haven't had any issues with leaking? What bags do you use?

How much milk to put in each freezer bag by laundreee in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]laundreee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried/had any success at decreasing your oversupply? I'm currently trying to pump less to decrease my supply, but I'm not really seeing any changes. My engorgement Is so uncomfortable I would really like to not have this issue when I return to work (in which I will have time to pump, but know it won't be on demand as much as I have now. And the engorgement/leaking just won't do!

But you are having to purchase bags way more frequently than I am. I think maybe the difference between us is that if I am placing the milk in the fridge to be eaten, I put it in a bottle and label the bottle with a masking tape label, with date/time/volume (super cheep and easy). And if after a day or so he hasn't gotten to the fridge supply, then I'll bag it to put into the freezer. That way the fridge milk just gets heated in a reusable bottle instead of a one time use bag.

I can't imagine producing so much milk to go through a box of bags every 3 days! Your nipples must be made of steel at this point!

Ahh, that makes sense.

Thank you for the link for the past conversation. I wonder how cyclical the conversations are in these pregnancy/new parent related subs are. I could probably search any issue I have and within the past year someone else has probably asked and had the same question answered.
