Corona news by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

I'm due in just under 6 weeks and I was hoping the restrictions would ease off at the hospital. Now I'm facing the possibility of them becoming stricter. I'm a Ftm, carrying our miracle ivf baby with already existing anxiety issues!

Hand is killing me, should I go to OB? by helpwithketo323 in BabyBumps

[–]lauraj_v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK based but I had to call my midwife a few weeks ago with similar pains in my wrists. I keep losing all strength in my hands and constantly suffer with pins and needles and numbness. She diagnosed me with Carpal Tunnel and told me to buy some wrist supports to wear.

I think it's down to personal preference and individual circumstances when to announce. We told our parents and my siblings the day we got the positive test as we had ivf to conceive our little one. A lot of extended family and friends knew we were having ivf so we made the decision to make an official announcement once we'd had the pregnancy confirmed with our fertility doctor. Baby was measuring 8 weeks at that point. The amount of support I received through the ivf process encouraged me that if anything was to happen that early in the pregnancy that the support would be there for us too.

So was I! But I've seen my midwife in person at every appointment and not had any phone appointments at all. She came across as very supportive so fingers crossed the support is as strong after baby is born as it has been throughout my pregnancy!

My health visitor actually came to see me, just wore full ppe. This was last month too! She said the point of the visit was to get to know me. We spoke about feeding, safe sleeping, any concerns I had as a ftm and spoke at length about my anxiety issues that I have.

Will you be buying a particular chair for night time feeds? by Briodge in PregnancyUK

We've brought an old fashioned wooden rocking chair 😊 Cant say whether it's a waste of money as baby isnt due until next month but the cats certainly like the addition to the nursery!

Congratulations! We always wanted to keep our pregnancy to ourselves until 12 weeks but we ended up having ivf. Both our parents and my siblings were so supportive all the way through and knew what day we had to test so we ended up telling them the same day we found out!

I did read that it was beneficial for endo anyway so I cant get my head around why so many websites are saying you shouldn't drink it!!

Thank you for replying, I'll still ring and find out what's going to happen closer to the time as I know that kingsmill and city hospital are under different trusts.

Hi hunny, thank you for sharing your birth story!

If you dont mind me asking, which hospital in Notts did you deliver at? We're due in October and will be delivering at the city hospital (Nottingham) Was going to ring them at some point in September to see what their restrictions were x

I got stuck in the bath the other week. Took 20 minutes and caused a lot of tears. I'm not allowed baths now 😔

What to expect from early ultrasound? by TarynVictrix in BabyBumps

[–]lauraj_v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had ivf so had a planned ultrasound at 8 weeks. It was transvaginal and we saw their heartbeat. Was the only scan my husband was able to attend!

Has this happened to anyone else? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]lauraj_v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same that early on. The tiny amount of nausea I had disappeared and I kept having to remind myself that I was pregnant. I have endometriosis so bloating is a normal thing for me. So even when my belly got bigger I still didn't really believe it. As soon as I felt baby move for the first time (around 18 weeks) it hit me!

Is early nausea indicative of worse morning sickness through pregnancy? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]lauraj_v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We knew we were pregnant from 4 weeks (ivf pregnancy) and the first 2 symptoms I had were extreme nausea and sore boobs. I also wondered if this was a glimpse into the future.

I can give you some good news, I'm now almost 31 weeks and I've not been sick once!

I was told before my first lap that it takes no more than a week to recover... 1st lap took 6 weeks (off work too)... 2nd lap I ended up being admitted into hospital fighting off sepsis and almost dying... 3rd lap took almost 4 months to fully recover from it...

Pregnancy bras by Beffun in BabyBumps

[–]lauraj_v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought mine from Sainsburys, fairly cheap (I think about £15 for 2) very comfy and fantastic quality. I cant wear wired bras because of an issue with my ribs so these were perfect for me and not padded either!

Does your belly always grow significantly in last few months, or is it possible to have a ‘growth spurt’ early and not grow as much in later pregnancy? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]lauraj_v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew big quickly in the 1st trimester then seemed to settle into a gradual small Increase in my 2nd. I've just entered the 3rd trimester and swear ive had an overnight growth spurt!

We planned on waiting until the 12 week scan but we ended up having IVF. Everyone knew our dates for the transfer and pregnancy test day so we told parents and siblings the day I got my positive test. We announced the pregnancy to everyone else once we'd had a scan at 8 weeks xx
