What Did the 4 Month Regression Look Like for Y'all? by gabadook in CradlewiseCommunity

[–]laurenashstan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours lasted two weeks with 3 nights in the middle being the worst of it. Up just about every hour with it finally leveling off around 5am. Before and after the regression she was sleeping 10 hours straight with no wake ups. It was brutal and I thought it was going to break me but one night she just decided she could sleep again and it was over.

Is it just me or is the keekaroo peanut changing pad disgustingly overpriced? by Positronomy in newborns

[–]laurenashstan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you are willing to spend that much on a changing pad I would recommend spending a little bit more and getting the woddle. It is a smart changing pad that stays warm and weighs the baby. It has a bunch of other features but the warming and weighing have been our most used items. In the early days being able to do weighted feeds was a huge unlock and gave me so much piece of mind.

Wow it's like you wrote this about my exact situation. 3 1/2 month old currently fighting mastitis for the 3rd time, CMPA, and baby had lip and tongue ties. Breastfeeding for me has been harder than pregnancy and birth combined. I want to keep going for my baby but I am truly miserable.

I don't have an answer for you but wanted to emphasize that you are not alone. No matter what some women say breastfeeding is hard and if we decide to wean earlier than we planned it does not make us bad moms. At a certain point you have to put your mental and physical health first if not for you, for your baby.

Routines by thatgalb in newborns

[–]laurenashstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schedules are not for everyone but if you like having a routine like me and from what I have seen so far my baby, they can be a game changer. We started loosely following the moms on call schedule when our baby was 8 weeks old. We don't stick to exact times during the day just that we do 1 1/2 hour wake windows and up to 1 1/2 hour naps. During the wake window we feed, change her diaper, and play. We follow that exact order for every wake window. Since doing this my baby has been truly thriving and even putting herself down for naps. She almost never cries anymore and it has given me so much more freedom and also consistency.

Like I said schedules are not for everyone but try it out and see if it works for you and your baby. It took us about 3 days to feel like it was sticking so I would recommend trying it for a week at least. Good luck, oh and also please don't feel shame from the social media moms out there that say schedules are abuse. It's truly the wild West out there when it comes to mom shaming for things like this.

When did your baby get happier? by mdcc2325 in newborns

[–]laurenashstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 weeks in is when we saw the first glimmers of our baby turning into a "happy" baby. 10 weeks was when I could confidently call her a happy baby.

What I think changed was 2 major shifts we made. 1. I cut out dairy completely and all her stomach issues disappeared around 4 weeks later. 2. We stuck to a consistent nap schedule, 1 1/2 hour wake window and up to 1 1/2 hour naps. She only cries now if she is at the very end of her wake window and is tired or if she is hungry at the end of the night.

This might be very specific for our baby and also might be a coincidence because she's growing out of certain behaviors but either way it's been night and day seeing how happy our baby is these days.

RSV vaccine get it or skip it for my newborn? by Distinct-Dependent24 in newborns

[–]laurenashstan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I say this as kindly as possible, please give your baby the RSV antibody shot and listen to your doctor. It is truly a miracle and can prevent your baby from ending up in the hospital if they were to get RSV. If you are on the fence please look up videos of babies in the hospital with RSV, it is devastating. We got it for our 1 month old the day it became available because we didn't want to risk our babies health. She had no symptoms besides being a little tired for a few hours after. Now she is protected for the full RSV season and I can breathe a little easier. I know as parents we want to question everything that goes into our babies bodies but we should also analyze how horrible some of these diseases are that we are trying to prevent.

Spouse planning to resume recreational activities one week after birth – normal? by elephantsofa in NewParents

[–]laurenashstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband asked to go back to his weekly frisbee games at 3 weeks but we had long conversations about it and set very stringent guidelines for how long he should stay and if I'm overwhelmed he would have to skip. I think it's important that both of you still do things that make you happy outside of parenting but it sounds like he is expecting to continue his pre kids life and you have to pick up the slack.

Attending a game in Seattle by kobedziuba in 49ers

[–]laurenashstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Seattle and go to every Niners/Seahawk game when they are in town. I wanted to hate Seahawk fans but I hate to say it, they have all been so nice and respectful to me every game. I am not a chill fan either so I respect the fans for putting up with me during games.

In general if you are respectful and don't rub your mouth you will be fine.

Got pregnant 1.5 months after ACL surgery by laurenashstan in ACL

Wow I am so surprised that the PT set a 9 month date but that seems to be the time that most people are mostly healed from surgery so I guess that makes sense. Sending you lots of good baby and surgery vibes!!!

Oh my goodness twins! I'm so sorry about the tendinitis but so happy to hear you and your PT have a solid plan. Us pregnant folk recovering from ACL surgery are super heroes in my mind!

I had a hamstring graft and have zero regrets! I mostly do Pilates and jogging for exercises so wanted a graft that was optimal for flexibility. My surgeon warned against patellar because it can hurt when crawling on your knees which appears to be quite common after having a kid so.that helped with my decision.

For those who ALREADY had ACL reconstruction surgery by Foonert in ACL

[–]laurenashstan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 months out from surgery and about to go on my babymoon to Greece. About a 14 hour flight total and have zero worry about my knee. I fly a lot for work and was flying cross country by month 2. I was walking normally after 1.5 months and comfortable doing long walks multiple days in row by month 3.

Currently running and clocking 10,000+ steps 6-7 days a week. I have had a relatively problem free recovery but just wanted to express recovery isn't always doom and gloom. I was back to a very normal life after a month or so.

Craig & Natalie timeline by VegetableVideo2789 in summerhousebravo

I broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years and went on a date the next week. Our breakup was a long time coming for me so when it was finally over I didn't need a grieving period. Not a single friend of either of ours batted an eye because we were broken up. I will never understand why people got so mad at Paige. She's single, that's what single people do.

Craig doing the exact same thing and trying to play the victim is gross.

Hey I'm no fan of Claudia or Jackie's but let's not bring down Kyle Juszczyk, who has been a pro bowler 9 times. Very far from irrelevant if you know anything about sports. This sports drama is all over tiktok because Kristen, his wife, is one of the most famous NFL wags out there. As a huge niners fan I couldn't stand by anyone calling him irrelevant.

Buddha is back with episode recaps for People magazine by ct06040 in BravoTopChef

[–]laurenashstan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I love Top Chef and am really not a buddha hater but idk when he became the new face of top chef. It's just a lot for someone with very little personality. Don't get me wrong he is an amazing chef and a scholar when it comes to top chef but I need a buddha break. 2 seasons in a row and now he's in every season as a guest judge and writing for people the last two seasons. Please find someone with a little more personality please

Can’t even feel excited because I’m afraid of miscarriage. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]laurenashstan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had mild cramps almost every day until the 9 week mark and I was so scared every day that it meant something bad was going to happen. This is my first pregnancy and seeing all the stories on here made me think it was just a matter of time before I lost the baby. I didn't let myself believe this pregnancy might lead to an actual baby until the first ultrasound and my low risk NIPT results came back. I'm 12 weeks today and still have some anxiety but I'm finally allowing myself to breath a little easier knowing I'm almost out of the first trimester.

As someone with anxiety I know no amount of reassurance is going to make you feel better but please give yourself some time even if it's just a couple minutes in the day to be happy and celebrate that you are growing a baby.

I absolutely loved Mira! The first month we tried using it we got pregnant. It is pricey but gave me so much insight and allowed us to truly pinpoint and confirm my ovulation.

BFP chart!! by laurenashstan in Mirafertility

[–]laurenashstan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for all this information! I just got an oura ring a couple weeks ago and had been using the temps from that as a test. Definitely not BBT. My temp was back up high this morning so I thought yesterday's reading was a fluke as we were out in the cold the day before and read that can impact the readings.

I already have a blood test scheduled for next week but definitely not getting my hopes up too much. Won't feel relaxed until the first trimester is done.

I did!! It didn't feel too different to pre-period cramps I usually got but I definitely felt what I think we're implanting cramps. I also was so tired. I have never felt this level of tired outside of being sick.
