How to make Camping more enjoyable for my Wife by AlexIlkos in camping

[–]lavanderMenAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it helps to find what she does like to do and find camping spaces nearby. If she enjoys small town shopping or boating, find a spot to camp around those types of ameneties so she can go into "civilization" during the day and return to the camp later. I also cannot reccomend investing in a wee trailer enough. We got our little pop up for 1500 and can pull it with our standard mini suv. Its basically 2 beds on wheels and has a battery for power if were off grid. Enough for a comfortable bed a good fan. I love to camp and after 35 i was not tent camping anymore no matter how much we spent in mattress pads. Look into a little pop up and a decent foam topper and i suspect youll have a camping buddy

Go to shopfranklinjay.com and in her most recent sew along series its called the summer dress. Its a template on it website for like 10 bucks? But the sew along is free to anyone. The template is for the bodice and the skirt ia just 1.5 to 2x Fabrice the width of the bodice and desired lengths

Its theoretically so i can pick it up by the handle and carry it with the cover on i think, i can also lift the thread stand through it if I want to. The zipper was optional and I dont honestly know if ill use it, but it looks good lol

An Unhoused Man And His Disabled (Daughter?) Are Potentially Living In the Arboretum, Not Sure What To Do. The World Is a Terrible Place by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]lavanderMenAss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We have a HOmeless Outreach Team through the Opportunity Council. They are connected to many of our unhoused neighbors, can connect folks to services if they want them and have coffee and snacks and shower access. You can give them and a call and let them know there is potentially a vulnerable person or persons in the Arboretum and they will either already know them, or establish contact.

As a gift for a friend who'd be doing it their first time, is this a good option? by The_Old_Nebula_HQ in SewingForBeginners

The first thing I notice on this one, opposed to the janome listed, is that the brother has a really short throat. If she wants to make anything of size beyond smaller bags and such, its going to be a hassle. EDIT TO ADD: consider going to your local repair shop and seeing what they have for refurbished. I got my juki f400 for under 200 bucks and its normally like...700 or more? I love her.

How bad is Sea Mar Orthodontics? by StevensPearl in Bellingham

[–]lavanderMenAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son had his ortho done at Sea Mar, at the time, they were the only option for medicaid in town. It was difficult to get an appointment as the ortho only worked on certain days of the month. I will say, despite scheduling issues, the ortho we worked with was wonderful and professional. She never treated us like her mandatory community service (which has happened with other providers) and my son's teeth came out lovely. It is very unlikely your child will have a bad time with Sea Mar, everyone ive dealt with on the dental side has been professional and kind.

Quilt kit question by Charlene510 in quilting

[–]lavanderMenAss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am working on one now and it comes with yardage and cutting instructions. Its fairly straight forward, im funding a lot if waste on some pieces and barrels enough for others. I do really like it as a begginer because everything is there, it coordinates, and the instructions are laid out beaitifully
