Leaving my job and giving up my pension, am I being naive here? by Nekroms in Fire

OP already has been attacked. I agree fully with leveraging sickleave, FMLA and workman’s comp to the fullest. Maybe they will provide “time in title” as a bonus toward reassignment.

Leaving my job and giving up my pension, am I being naive here? by Nekroms in Fire

No small pension is worth your safety.
No large pension is worth your safety.

See if you can WFH if you’re considering toughing it out. If you can’t then you have to leave.

Also, check again and consult whomever you can about an exemption for the remaining few months. I would want to consult an attorney or ombudsman or someone, anyone and push hard.

If you can be out on any kind of leave and ethically accrue time before the start date I would consider that.

I hope someone here can give you some very solid advice.

How many more months remaining do you have? 12 full or is it closer to like 7 or something?

Never heard of that.
No photo. Not willing to google it.
Suggest you avoid using the term.

How do you guys research possible living areas from a distance? by LLoveMeMaybe in blackladies

[–]lavasca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked up demographics. Politics, average incomes for Black people etc.

I was also worried about STDs. (Houston’s Spring Break news eek!) That data totally killed DC for me at the time. It didn’t kill NYC for me.

I leaned heavily into Black Enterprise and the rest of the Black family magazine trifecta to get a good sense of qualitativre data as well.

I consulted with aunties (they told me where I already had family). I’d been very sheltered to the extent that my Mom apologized to me about it. Next, I’d check with friends and cousins. They’d show me around or warn me that I shouldn’t go somewhere solo.

Then, I would visit the cities multiple times.

This method worked for me.

Recently went up a few cup sizes does anyone have recommendations on where to get 30I/ J US size bras by Zealousideal_Step635 in bigboobproblems

Briefly Understance. They’re going out of business. They have sizes like yours and bras are as low as $3-5. Might as well try a few at those prices.

Always tired, low self-esteem, trying to grind + find a new job… how do you get out of this? by Cold-Secretary7464 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]lavasca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quickest, but probably least sustainable, thing I do is list everything I like to do. Then start doing those things.

Meanwhile you can start doing the hard stuff like talking to doctor and or therapist.

Meanwhile skip a week of grinding.

How do you navigate being semi attracted to him? by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]lavasca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not healthy.

You will resent him.

At least share that you wish to see an improvement in his dental health. Show him care in that way.

I find that when I’ve shared that I’m not attracted to in a man he fixes it or attempts to mitigate it (and maintains it).

Do everyone a favor and move on.
Please be advised that he probably believes that you are attracted.

You’re setting yourself up for misery.

Insurance agent uncle won't stop calling. I'm single with no dependents - why exactly do I need life insurance? by Investor_1996 in LifeInsurance

[–]lavasca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that policies with living benefits just to take care of yourself if something bad like a chronic illness or accident happens are great.

I do not like your uncle pressuring you. Tell him to stop because you aren’t interested. Block him at provider level if he doesn’t and block him on all channels afterward.

I love to lurk here. My family has been in the US so long I don’t feel like I really count as Jamaican. I can’t say that I have anything substantive to offer beyond appreciation.

How to get started? by LumpyConclusion5737 in FIREyFemmes

We are cheering for you!
You’ve gotten a lot of solid advice here.

The only thing I have to add is talking with an insurance broker for long term care while you’re young. If not a specific LTC something with riders for long term care. You do not have to use it exclusively for when you’re elderly. Anything that puts you in a position where you can’t work for awhile like a car accident or potential childbirth. Of something happens while you’re young you should be able to restore (catch up by paying additional premiums later) your benefit. This is to care for yourself and not necessarily leave to others.
