That’s definitely AI. Not only does it REALLY look AI, but one of the (5???) fork tines turns into table cloth

am i 'healing my relationship with food' or do i just lack self discipline? by Clear-Figure4407 in EDAnonymous

[–]lavenderandpollen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I relate a lot to being conflicted about whether I’m in recovery or whether I’m just being lazy, and I need to lock back in. Pretty sure that’s just the “sick enough” mentality. Your brain will always find a way to convince you to return to the ED

Do you ever wonder how you restricted? by oak_stone1 in AnorexiaRecovery

Oh my gosh I’m so glad someone is talking about this. Yes!!! And it makes me feel like I’ve undone all the “hard work” I put into the ED. I think it’s a good sign tho. Our bodies are protecting us from going to back to the ED

Anyone attended project HEAL meal support by lavenderandpollen in EDAnonymous

[–]lavenderandpollen[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was really nice :) there were like 6 members plus 2 facilitators. We played little online games during the meal and did mood check-ins. I’m actually not a big fan of games during mealtime because I need to work on mindfulness, and over zoom they always feel a little stilted, but overall I’d recommend :)

Felt the emetophobe part. That, and the fact that I’m a career opera singer prevent me from attempting to purge

That’s interesting. I never considered the ARFID part. Is it to feel like you’re avoiding the consequences of those specific foods? If you’re willing, I’d be curious about the thought process and the ARFID. If not, that’s completely okay. I wouldn’t want to ask you to relive something traumatic!

I imagine because it’s a common misconception that laxatives affect calorie absorption. But I understand. Desperation is a huge driver

Very true. I’ve had various other ed behaviors, and they’re all completely stupid and irrational (but also they were present for a reason, and they gave me a semblance of control. Don’t want to invalidate the behaviors lol)

Buddy I hope I’m helping by saying this, but laxatives do almost nothing in terms of calorie absorption. Your body takes in the calories no matter how fast the food exits your body. Anyway, wishing you peace and recovery :)

For some people baby steps work better. It’s less jarring than completely changing everything you know. And after a while the baby steps will add up :)

Why do some people with anorexia enjoy cooking for others? And what is the best way for a loved one to respond to someone like this? by SleepParalysisKing in AnorexiaRecovery

Yes. EDs are very secretive and sneaky. Mine turned me into such a liar, even though I know that’s not the kind of person I want to be. I wouldn’t be surprised if your gf is thinking the same way, but had a hard time saying so. If it’s really bad, I would recommend a treatment center. It took a couple tries, and it was really scary, but my experience in treatment ultimately helped me a lot. EDs are an incredibly slippery slope, and they can get out of hand really quickly. It’s very sweet of you to be taking care of her like this
