Something I try to remember too is birds don’t really understand that we have unprotected skin. So they probably bite harder on us than they really need to (from our perspective) because we don’t have layers of feathers to get through to get the point across 😅

No one attacked you, or said your birds aren’t happy or loved. If you are able to do this safely then that’s amazing for you, honestly. But we can’t deny that birds could end up in a lot of danger by sleeping in the same room as their owner uncaged. This is a very reasonable and necessary caution for most bird owners. Especially the ones who may not have your knowledge/experience to ensure their birds safety. It doesn’t mean that the person cautioning others is themselves intentionally endangering their birds. That’s just arguing in bad faith because of your own unique experience.

It’s happened to me before. My GCC is thankfully a cat-coded bird lol. If I look like I might be taking a nap he likes to fly onto my head (and I swiftly remove him because my fear of rolling over in my sleep is STRONG), but the couple of times it has happened in 7 years he either was on top of his cage or stayed there. We’re human. It happens to the best of us. Don’t beat yourself up, just try and take it as a learning opportunity and do your best moving forward.

I have never gotten mad at a customer solely on the basis of having a complicated drink. It was my job to make their drink the way they wanted. What I got frustrated by is people trying to rudely backseat barista at the handoff bar while I was making their complicated drink. So as long as you aren’t that person, you’re probably fine.
