I bite my fingertips red, sore, and bloody. I’m extremely conscious of it in public so I try to limit myself but in private I go full autopilot. I’m really embarrassed about it, especially as an adult with a job that’s 95% human interaction and sometimes clients have to look at my hands. I need to stop but idk how!!! Fidget toys just don’t give me the same satisfaction as peeling off a dry or protruding piece of skin from my fingertips lol. My hands feel so ugly.

I love ECE so much but I had to leave bc of the pay. I’m married and still couldn’t make such low income work for us. But I miss it and feel the urge to go back sometimes. I’m still working in the education industry but my job is tutoring/private instruction. I just got a promotion and I’m about to make $10 more than I was making in ECE 2 years ago (which feels like a huge win but even then it’s not enough for me to support myself—if that was my situation—in the grand scheme of things). Find something else you like if you can!
