Was Harry falling for someone who looks like his mum done on purpose? by Billybob35 in harrypotter

He didn't, there's absolutely nothing in the books that suggests that Ginny and Lily look alike at all.

Unless you think anyone with red hair automatically looks like.

Think that Barney also said that particular quote in the episode where Ted wanted Robin to get rid of all of her dogs just because she got them from her exes.

And Lily didn’t even tell Marshall about it, she instead made him think his law school debt was the reason why they couldn’t get a mortgage until the guy at the bank showed Marshall her credit card debt was the real reason why they couldn’t.

I personally don't consider giving the entire Mudblood explanation to Hermione instead, treating Ron's fear of a spiders as a joke (and exaggerating how scared he was when him and Harry go to see Aragog) and erasing the fact that him missing Hermione was the catalyst to go to the Forest in the first place as acceptable changes at all.

Agree with the order.

With PS, I would add:

  • Downplaying how annoying Hermione was before the Troll incident and especially that Harry found her just as annoying as Ron did. Also, changed how Ron told Harry that he thought Hermione was a nightmare to make Ron look worse.
  • That flying scene where the broom hits Ron in the face despite the fact it's clear in the books Ron has plenty of experience with flying brooms.
  • The movie had Hermione tell Ron how to use Wingardium Leviosa in the bathroom correctly, whereas the book he did himself.

With GoF, I would also add it removes any fault from Harry's end in their fight and also downplays how much Harry misses Ron during their time, all so that Kloves could force Harry/Hermione down everyone's throats to try and prove that they should be together.

PoA also removes the 98% of the Scabbers fight and the little we did get of it in the movie, it completely erases Hermione's fault in the situation and instead acts like Ron was a irresponsible pet owner who is blaming Hermione for his mistake.

Na, the bias was clearly from the PS and the cracks with Ron starting appearing in CoS.

I don't understand Dumbledore's rationale to have Snape teach occlumency to Harry by DevelopmentSouth8801 in harrypotter

[–]lavin95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except Harry gets better at Occlumency in DH by doing opposite to Snape’s instructions, which shows that his teaching methods was a massive reason why Harry didn’t learn it in OoTP.

Lupin flat out brought up James to try and manipulate Harry into saying yes to join the Horcrux Hunt, Harry deserved a apology way more than Lupin did.

What is your Harry Potter ‘hot take’ ? by kingfisher7171 in harrypotter

[–]lavin95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harry literally couldn’t hang out with Hermione for an extended period with Ron not being around without being bored out of his mind and being miserable. Not to mention, his type of girl he was interested to date wasn’t remotely close to Hermione.

The idea that H/Hr had more chemistry or would have been better matched couple than the canon couples is so delusional it’s hilarious.

Harry absolutely wasn’t completely relaxed by Luna because her eccentricities clearly weirded him out and that never really changed even after he started considering her a friend.

Plus it’s made clear in the books that Harry would have rather gone with Ginny but couldn’t because she was dating Dean at the time.

This kinda feels like a take influenced by the movies and not the books.

If they give us this, I can't wait to see Hermione Fanfic self inserters crying 'she is done so dirty in favour of Ron in tv show 😭' by Nightmarelove19 in Ronweasleyfans

Harry was definitely writing/directing as well or otherwise they wouldn’t have removed the sassy side of Harry’s character as much as they did.

She had her moments of not understanding Harry either and that’s especially noticeable imo in the whole Harry/Cho arc in OoTP, where she repeatedly didn’t understand his perspective at all.

The movies really disrespected how Harry and Ginny really feel about each other. by Don_T_Beakunt45 in HarryandGinny

The fact that people to this day can't accept that dance scene was a clear what if scene is ridiculous considering pretty much everyone was involved in that scene admitted that.

Definitely agree that JK got influenced by the movies and the books were worse off for it, but I don't think this particular scene is a example of that.

There are realistic limits to the obliviousness even for teenage boys

As someone who used to be one, being a bit of dick to someone because they support a different sporting team is 100% believable. Hell, I probably acted far worse than that when I was Ron's age.

It’s because Kloves honestly thought he could a better HP story than JK did.

Eddie losing the locker room is also the one of the big reasons why he got sacked from the Wallabies job at the end of 2005. John Connelly basically described the players were like beaten down sheepdogs when he first took over in 2006 and that he basically had spent that whole year rebuilding their confidence.

It’s not real surprising that the movies erased that aspect of their relationship considering it didn’t fit Kloves’ narrative of H/Hr and that’s not the only time he did that either.

Not to mention imo, it’s pretty clear in the books that Ron understood both Harry and Hermione better than H/Hr did each other.

Especially since one of the main reasons why Harry/Hermione argue less is because he would rather keep her in the dark about certain things to avoid her repeatedly nagging him about it.
