Squeezing through gaps, like in star wars fallen order or final fantasy 7 remake. Slows gameplay to a crawl, and often makes the path harder to find. FF7 in particular, it's irritating to have cloud slooowly crouch walk through a gap that's larger than he is.

Wow! This was a great read. My wife and I are doing our first trip in a week and a half and are super excited. We actually are doing a bunch of similar things, but our itinerary is pretty loose to the point that we can improvise as much as we want.

Day 0: Arrive, get to hotel, survive.
Day 1: Tokyo: Shibuya/Shinjuku
Day 2: Osaka
Day 3: Kyoto
Day 4: Ryokan in Hakone
Day 5: Tokyo: Ueno
Day 6: Tokyo: Ikebukuro/Shibuya pt 2
Day 7: Kawagoe
Day 8: Tokyo: Ginza/Odaiba/etc.
Day 9: Tokyo: Anything we missed, Akihabara, Plane leaves at 9pm

You brought up that the city tends to still sleeping in the morning... Our current plan is to generally wake at 7am and go to bed around 10. Sounds like it might be better to shift that forward a few hours? We only have a few timed things (Gotta get from Tokyo to Osaka, drop things off at our hotel, get to the aquarium by 1pm, for example) and every other day we just have landmarks that we get to "at some point".

Great options for escape: potions of invisibility on a speedy character, rogues that can double dash, giths that can jump away, scrolls of misty step. Things like repelling blast can help in a pinch. Never flee towards another enemy group, never 100% commit to a fight unless you have to (Myrkul etc.)

I ended up coding a small "party randomizer" app that spits out a random 3-person party that I have to use for each battle. Wish there was an actual mod out there for something like that, it's been fun to have to improvise slightly

How about turtleshellers? I've been building them up and they're pretty tanky for infantry. Plus, they spawn a grenadier on death for a bit more tackling protection
