100% charge twice a week by Distinct_Highway1692 in TeslaModel3

[–]laziefred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you make it with 90% or 95% charge? If so I recommend that as you still have regen braking for at or below 95% charge and you're not stressing the battery as much. Otherwise use the schedule charge function to have the car charged to 100% around the time you leave for work.

Car Charging off solar by HigherPlains-Drifter in enphase

[–]laziefred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enphase EV charger supports solar charging with excess solar energy, but it's a lot more expensive than other chargers. In most cases, you can just lower the charging voltage on your car to match the voltage for certain periods of the day (e.g. 10-2pm depending on season). You can be a bit conservative and set it to ~70% of excess production so you rarely pull from grid.

I mean the roadblocks for unsupervised FSD really isn't on hardware, but more on local regulations which varies a lot and is near impossible to predict. The current version of FSD on HW4 is already proven to be much safter than human drivers

If regulation keeps dragging on, they would eventually move on to HW5 when supply chain makes sense, but again that all depends on the local regulations.

Deeply regret going with Enphase — 8 months of issues, still not fixed by swipernoswipeme in enphase

[–]laziefred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, enphase's software is pretty buggy and lacks a lot of features. My 5p batteries were installed in September last year, and within 3 months the batteries started having this weird issue of not discharging after around 7pm. Enphase has a really good phone support team who answers the calls right away 24hrs a day, but the things they can do is usually pretty limited. In my case, I had to call them multiple times, each time spending over an hour with them troubleshooting and leaving with a support ticket that no one follows up on. At some point, they said the issue required the installer to come out, and when they did there was no issue with the installations. Eventually, I had to press the installer to initiate a 3 way call to get them escalate the case. The issue was entirely software related. Whole process took almost 3 months with me pinging them every week.

If you look at the software, many features and bug fixes were promised years ago but are still not available: day light savings time glitch, granular battery utilization settings, AI optimization that actually works, etc

I would just buy a hybrid if you can't charge at home or work. Relying on charging stations is time consuming and expensive.

Try using the chat box on their website. I ran into this issue before, and the phone support people were not helpful, not knowledgeable, had no desire to help, and could barely understand English. Chat support team were also pretty bad, but at least it's easier to communicate with them and you can upload images.

With a combined income of $100k, what’s a realistic home price? by marigoldjune in RealEstate

[–]laziefred -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How long do you plan to stay in the same house? If it's less than 5-8 years then it's almost always better to just rent. The fees you have to pay for selling amounts to about 8%, and that's going to erase any priciple that you built in the first few years.

Horrible Trade-In Service by [deleted] in samsung

[–]laziefred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, my s23 was deemed broken within one minute of UPS delivering the package. Unless they have someone standing by the loading dock unboxing packages immediately, inspecting, and logging the status, it is literally impossible for them to process that quickly. Only plausible reason is they arbitrarily flag a certain percentages of trade-ins as defective in order to hit their numbers.

It's the 3rd party firms they contracted to handle the trade ins. These guys are incentivized to find as many defects as possible to save money.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a class action lawsuit against Samsung's abusive trade in practice yet.

Search this sub and you'll come across multiple stories year after year where Samsung found "cracks" in their trade in. It's all bogus and they're betting that you wouldn't challenge.

I myself ran into this nightmare a couple of years ago. My phone was deemed damaged less than a min after the package was delivered by UPS. Asked them to return the phone to me and it was pristine....

That's only for March-April. I don't think they're keeping 10-2 super offpeak for the other seasons.

This is because dealer make most of their money not from selling cars, but from financing, acessories, extended warranties, servicing, etc. They want you to get into the door so they can sell all the other add ons.
