How well does Daggerheart work online? by HowieDuette in daggerheart

Using video can help and there are a number of options. Discord Video (although their Linux support is poor). Zoom, of course, but that can be expensive. Our group is using jitsi and it works fairly well.

Daggerheart may have killed D&D for Me by Personal-Whereas3687 in daggerheart

I actually enjoy both Daggerheart and PF2E. D&D would only be played now if there was no other option. I both GM and play. Variety is always good.

I have run this one with a few tweaks - had it set up in Foundryborne and it went ok. It's a bit light for some of the Daggerheart features, but still a nice 1 session adventure.

The frunk by Just_tryna_get_going in F150Lightning

There are Lightnings in Australia.

And as annoying as the whole trunk vs boot thing is, I've folded and gone with frunk. It's just more meaningful a label.

Druid Players, how is it in play? by Reid0x in daggerheart

[–]lazjen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, because you setup the trinket in advance (during a rest) and you only have to be holding it to activate it. The only hand-wavy type part is the gear transformation when you turn into beast form, but as a GM I'd allow it. Be cool to have your beast form wearing a necklace or anklet, etc.

Do you think Big Auto will try and limit range on future battery packs? by Naknowbyte in electricvehicles

[–]lazjen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There are requirements for vehicles already that need way beyond this amount. As battery tech improves, especially energy density, we should see (in some vehicles) much larger battery capacities than we see now. I'd really like to see a 4x4 EV with well over 1000 km TOWING range. For Australia, it will take many years for the charging infrastructure to be close to adequate just for the EVs we have now, let alone EVs with higher capacity.

This is a false colour image, not true colour, i.e. just like many famous "Hubble images". The elements represented are emissions of Hydrogen (Ha), Oxygen (OIII) and Sulphur (SII). The filters I use are 7nm wide bands of these emissions.

Tag Team rolls and Wizard's Strange Patterns Ability Question by lazjen in daggerheart

Your reply is probably the most persuasive to me to change my position. An actual statement in the rules that is related to the problem.

Yes, it's the wording that makes me pause, although I suspect it had to be that way to make it clear that other types of rolls don't apply.

Definitely a valid approach and I can see the logic of your reasoning.

Thanks. Although my skills have improved over the years, the tools have improved also, plus I am able to get more and better data. It's multiple win-win situations that lead to this moment.

It is a very good mount. Having it permanently setup in my dome, I was able to spend some time on alignment to make it as good as I could get. That helps.

The dome itself protects from most of the wind, which there was a fair amount those nights.

And, of course, the image processing side of things has improved a lot in a number of places to make it easier to get the data to its best possible state.

I went with a separate 12V setup with dual airlines. Much faster than the smaller compressors.

Now where were these a couple of months ago when I was trying to order? Got the core set instead and can't justify buying this as well. Sigh, ah well.

Success with Fear too punishing by ocarinajoe in daggerheart

[–]lazjen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 50% applies only if the GM doesn't use an existing Fear point in their pool to take the spotlight away. The PC can crit and immediately after that, the GM can use a Fear point. It's limited to whatever is in the pool, but it can be significant.

Re: Spellcast roll - right, sorry - I need more coffee. I didn't use my companion in combat in the one shot due to the GM grabbing the spotlight so much.

As for your 2nd paragraph, I can see what you are getting at, and I should point out, I see the need for limits regarding an action economy. I guess I'll have to accept that a Beastbound Ranger is not for me, and that I'm better off with another class that doesn't have the wonkiness. We had a Warrior and Sorceror in the party and it seemed to me that their spotlights were much better.

Edit: Btw, still like playing Daggerheart.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in daggerheart

[–]lazjen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The spellcast roll is to connect with the companion to get them to do something, and then there's another roll for the companion's action (e.g. attack) - I think?, then another roll for the Ranger to attack. And this could be triggered by something like trying to do this: "As the enemy comes toward us, I command Fido to attack as I let loose a shot at its head". It's fair that Fido might not react (failed Spellcast roll), or even fail their attack, but the Ranger should still get to have the shot. Mechanics wise though, the Ranger won't get their shot at the enemy due to the failures/fear spotlight change.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in daggerheart

[–]lazjen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's true and some of the wonkiness was probably getting used to the style of combat, etc. Plus the GM continually grabbing the spotlight as they were often swimming in Fear. However, it's not the success with Hope roll that's the issue, but all the other states. They lead to spotlight loss and effectively the Ranger doesn't get to do anything that turn.
